Tailors and armour smiths.

It's all high fashion produced for noble ladies with way too much money for their own good.
>>
Tailors and armorsmiths, I guess.

Ceremonial armor for male knights who dress skimpy.

If entertaining in the bedroom and feeling comfortable in your own body is considered a "ceremony"
>>
>>46635566
Nobles mostly. Only they would think some of this crap is a good idea.

>>46635566
Insanely rich people and Wizards.

Punks who can't afford gold trim or jewelry

Since most magic focuses on imagination, it's commonplace for priests and mages alike to wear ostentatious garb to make them seem larger than life, and attract greater supernatural force
>>
From tailors and armorsmiths. They're worn either for extremely decadent masquerade balls or ceremonial garb for the temple guards of a few temples.
>>
>>46635566
Evil people always have their own fashion sense outside of what's accepted/logical. Just look at Lady Gaga. She's obviously evil.

An enchanter. Because magic has replaced metal as the primary source of protection.

As for the complex designs, as opposed to a simple tunic? Those are necessary in order to make the magic flow properly across and through the body. Females may have the same chi points as males, but their magical circuitry is completely different.

The fairies dumb plant clothing comes from under their skin in my setting.

The baby Fairy lodges in the skull of a human and takes over their body. It then takes root throughout the body and can rapidly grow plantlife out from any part of the host

Gross.

>>46637905

Some choose to build clothing from leaves they sprout and pluck in order to reduce damage to their body. Human clothes and armour are avoided due to their dislike of steel

So when adventurer girls wear that stuff when out and about fighting monsters, it's a sort of rebellious fashion statement like the "Sapeur" subculture in the Congo where people who can't afford food hang around wearing suits that cost more than their houses?
>>
>>46638085

Eh, we made the setting when we had no internet for a week and didn't really know what to call it. Now we've done stuff with them in, the name's sorta stuck
>>
>>46637905
:O that's so historically/mythologically rooted yet cohesive with fairies in the fantasy genre sense

this is grim but clever

"I was told they no longer saw the reason to live when their work was finished."

Mostly rich adventurers and such who want to lounge around town in style between having to wear stuffy armor or traveling clothes while on the adventures proper. Plus nobles and sedentary magicians and all that.
>>
orcs tend to wear ridiculous shit that barely qualifies as clothing because their higher amount of body fat and lack of a nudity taboo makes actual clothes obsolete. instead they wear whatever they feel makes them look fancy, desirable or powerful. some of it looks fairly reasonable, if eccentric to the human eye. most of it is "30 different necklaces, a bikini made of bucklers, a top hat (with the accompanying 3 monocles), a pair of short shorts over button-up long johns and thigh high wool socks with a cat face pattern"
>>

>bikini made of bucklers
So she just has a little shield over each tit?
>>
>>46640050
yes. and there's engravings of Saints on them.
>>
In my setting people tend not to wear ridiculous clothing unless it's enchanted for functionality, or they simply don't give a fuck about functionality or it's a cultural thing.

Example being a race of extremely humanlike creatures that traditionally wear nothing from the waist up but wear brightly died, extremely baggy trousers tied about the waste (and pinched in at the ankles) with animal pelt belts (often died/bleached to match the colour of the trousers they are integrated into) that display the creatures head and front paws displayed at the front, the folds in the belt work as pockets. Men might wear a wolf belt wear kids might wear foxes, things like that. Sure they could wear typical clothing, or at least a less bulky pair of trousers but they choose for cultural reasons to keep wearing their traditional clothing.

Nobles might pay magical tailors to make ridiculous gravity defying hats, an absurdly skimpy getup that still keeps the wearer warm and never seems to reveal private parts. Of course their are plenty who have modifications that reveal skin but they can be wearing clothing just as ridiculous or showing.

Honestly I like ridiculous outfits, its fantasy, you gotta have some people looking fantastic.

Originally, the plot idea for the character of the fairies was a human that somehow managed to suppress being taken over by the root but was constantly being attacked by it

When a fairy dies naturally, the 'root' overtakes the body and plants to the ground and becomes a massive tree. Fairy settlements are full of these massive trees from many different ages.

This wood is also in demand due to how tough it is. Many humans fuelled by both greed and seeking revenge for their loved ones being taken by the fairies have raided settlements and taken everything. The already isolated fairies now have a 'kill first' policy on humans to protect their dwindling numbers, as well as in retribution for the desecration of their burial trees
