We just had that thread yesterday.

I'm learming to be a machinist so I'd probably be getting the little guy to fetch me my tools.

More importantly I think, is who's skull would you use for your servo skull?

The skulls of the Imperium's Enemies, of course.
>>
>>46619174
>>46619147

They totally did though.

The Land Speeder is named after Magos Arkhan Land, who rediscovered the STC based blueprints for it and other vehicles during his career, like the Land Raider.

They didn't have Land Speeders all the time, at some point some guy in a red robe was sitting at a console looking through piles of old data from some forgotten martian vault and went "Omg you guys, anti grav bumpercaaaar!".

The imperium lost tons of tech in the aftermath of the heresy, and still rediscover pieces of it now and then.
>>
>>46618414
Yes. They could make a lovely little personal assistant. I would probably have mine hold books while I read them in addition to acting as a dictation machine.
>>
>>46619339
>>46619273
Actually it's often the skull of a faithful imperial adept of some kind who died.

Sort of "Hey, you did such a swell job transcribing digital files onto parchment for 80 years, so now we're totally turning you into a creepy little book-carrier skull with an auto-quill"

The imperium gets triggered as fuck by AI things, but small drones or robots etc are super useful, so using a skull as the chassis is a way of going "well, it's totally not a robot, it's my faithful friend Chuck, who still serves, even in death! And needs some fresh batteries."

Yes, why is that even a question?
>>

My party's techpriest turned a fallen party member into a servoskull.
>>
>>46619487
It helps that AI is legitly dangerous and that the Imperial fatih reveres the human form as sacred and the admech is kinda in the same boat with the Imperium so it helps them to use skulls as chassises.

Plus servo-skulls are totally metal.
>>
Can I ride it like a tiny scooter?
>>
>>46618426
just the first two, for me
>>
>>46619766
It's more that ever since the men of iron they've been super freaked out about AI and have a huge cultural taboo against anything close to autonomous that doesn't have organic components.

So skynet or an AI tank is off the table, but bus-sized plasma torpedoes with human brains in them are totally legit.

Better question to ask is why nobody has made a real life one yet. Look at all that drone equipment, print out a light skull via 3D printer, put a short range tracking device on you so your Servo-skull could follow you. Hardest part would be making the fans and batteries last long.
>>
I'd use one as a 3-d projector and write pad as I'm going into animation. Would be sick as fuck to draw out some doodles and have servo project my table's adventure on the table.
>>
>>46620193

Huh. Using one as a 3D scanner would seriously help me out as well.

This picture confuses me.

The black bars in the background make it look like the skulls are attached to something, but the techpriest apparently isn't controlling them.

Otherwise it looks like he's mashing two servoskulls together in a more lewd version of 'now, kiss!'
>>
>>46620155

If I had the money, I'd just buy a good RC helecopter/drone, tear off the plastic body, and replace it with a paper mache skull or something.

Add some purity seals, a laser pointer, webcam, or whatever, and bam.

Instant servoskull.

>Wait, didnt the empire lose gravtech after the crusade? How are servoskulls still a thing?

They're not *still* a thing. There are a number of functional servoskulls. If you're worthy, you get one. In some ways, it's even more valuable than you are. You are just as much its custodian and caretaker, as it is your assistant.

Every day you recite the liturgies. Every day you apply the holy unguents and sacred oils. Every day you pray to the Emperor that this ancient relic will not fail on your watch. Every day you pray to the Emperor that in word and deed you will live up to the great honor that has been bestowed upon you.

And by doing these things, you become powerful, and wise, and achieve greatness. For the Emperor.

>>Wait, didnt the empire lose gravtech after the crusade? How are servoskulls still a thing?

It's ambiguous, because there's no way in hell a mass-produced Halo barge could operate without some sort of grav-tech. Rogue Traders scavenging old plates and massive recycling works, but how do you explain combat aircraft like the Valkyrie? Combat losses are hard to rebuild.

I figure the Imperium can make decent grav-tech, but with some limitations. a) tiny motors for servo-skulls or grapplehawks b) imprecise but sturdy grav-plating that requires a secondary control system like thrusters and landing gear to be useful, and c) standard 1g flat grav plates.

Anything else, like the fancy Land Speeder grav plates that let it fly, turn, and jink without gigantic turbines or huge wings, or grav-weapons, or [REDACTED], is lost technology.
>>
>>46624848
Isn't there also a whole regiment of guardsmen who use gravchutes, which should count as gravtech?

Gravchutes are just 2 servo-skull motors turned up to full power, bolted to a power source. They can't lift you up, but they can slow you down, and they only have to work once, for about 10 minutes, between maintenance.

I unno, would be fun to have people-sized jump packs. Even it has to be power armored people and fed by the PA's power supply.

Our Imperial Guard regiment bolted promethium-fuelled turbines to their drop-chutes and became, for one glorious mission, the noisiest and most foul-mouthed of the Emperor's servants. We were his angels - not the angels of death or the angels of mercy, but the angels of pure confusion.

And thus the why boner graced the adeptus mechanicus, and the omnissiah smiled for it was good.

Who do you think build the damn things?

Our Enginseer required four grav-chutes and his own maglev coils to fly, but when he did, it was like the Omnissiah himself had reached out to smite the enemy... provided one assumed the Omnissiah's finger was made of mechendendrites, robes, fire, and profanity.

We never did figure out the Engineer's gender, but probably.

I know that our Lieutenant, who was listening over the vox from the command blimp, was furiously masturbating while sitting on a statue of St. Bartholemew the Surprisingly Phallic, but that was fairly normal.
>>
>>46625204
I guess that's one way to "appreciate the holy human form"

The Lieutenant figured that a) only tech-priests ever visited her command blister, and they didn't care b) no Inquisitor would ever prosecute, because they'd have to write it down somewhere, and c) masturbating to the death of heretics was probably sanctioned.
>>
>>46625202
Basically, yes.
>>
>>46619147
They lost the ability to mass-produce military-grade antigravs. Some planets have flying civilian cars (Necromunda and one in Cain's books for sure), Ravenor has a hover chair, some tech-priest can levitate, most shuttles use antigravs to land quiclky, and so on...

>>46619403
the Immolator STC was nothing more than a post-it with "Strap a pair of heavy bolters on a Rhino" written on it.
At this point it's not about having the tech, just holy sanction to carry on.
>>
>>46619339
That's one of the highest forms of tech heresy

Only the most devout servents of the emperor are given the honour of having there skulls used.

There are plenty of skulls also on places like ebay, but real ones tend to be very expensive. Real size and real looking replica ones aren't very cheap either.
