Oh stop that
>>
>How'd you do
FNM is draft and I had one of the worst pools I ever drafted in my life and lost every single game because of it.
My RG Memedrazi deck smashed some people between rounds tho.
>Any new brews
Nothing special, really, just WG Humies, RB Vamps and some Zombie guys.
>What is coming
More of the same, but less Eldrazi. Hoping Arlinn gets another rise, still trying to get rid of mine.
>>
>>46610172
>How'd you do over the weekend?
Drafted UR Madness, went 2-2
>Any new brews at your store?
Some guy had a new Sedris EDH deck but otherwise nothing new
>What are you looking to see in the coming weeks?
Well, I'm making a terribad mono-white Soldiers/Equipment deck so we'll see how that goes
>>
>>46610356
>mono-white Soldiers/Equipment
I tried that, too, and failed miserably.
Having no equipment to give hexproof or indestructible really sucks with this many relatively cheap removal instants, a lot of which are also non-destruction removal.
>>
>>46610410
You have Nahiri's Machinations though, even without the activated ability it grants indestructible to something
>>
>>46610422
Which is nice and all, yes, but it sadly only covers the second half of your own turn and leaves your opponent one and a half turns to react to it between each trigger. If it'd at least trigger each combat, like Odric, it'd be kind of decent, if only for buying time by blocking.

It's an engine card that grows bigger. Clues turned out to be much better than anyone expected.

G/R midrange in fnm with Arlin. That card has been very underwhelming.

I have a good group, myself I'm working on a shitty RG werewolf deck, probably trade in my thing in the ice playsets for what I'm missing and some cards for my modern decks

>>

I bought them for € 0,50 each myself yesterday but even in Europe it's going up.
>>
>>46611250
Similar to scry in Theros block, lots of cards that should be cantrips instead had 'investigate' tacked on. Most clue related instants/sorceries are awful, it's only the creatures that use them that are decent.
>>
>>46611326
Scry had been around for a while though
>>
>>46611326
Expose Evil is okay?
>>
Think Daring Sleuth could make it into UR Prowess? Press for Answers could be a decent for the deck.

They are shit in constructed. However in sealed they're fantastic, as werewolf beatdown is king, and werewolves love clues.
>>

Anon, it's the magic words, the best ability in every card game in existence: "draw a card"

Let me know what you guys think http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/mungo-flickery/
>>
>>46611634
You misunderstand me.
In Theros block a lot of scry effects weren't really in keeping with 'flavor' and were just added as a small upside to otherwise normal cards, generally as 'scry 1'. Sometimes you would get cards that actually made the scry matter (Riddle of Lightning and the blue equivalent are really well designed IMO) but more often than not you'd get shit like Voyage's End, Bolt of Keranos, Battlewise Valor, or Glimpse the Sun God.

Most Darksteel scry effects were more appreciable scry numbers and the effects generally had a larger impact on the card overall (scry 1 is almost always inferior to 'draw a card', whereas one can argue that scry 2 is better than 'draw a card').
>>46611836
It's great for limited but probably unplayable in constructed.

Built a white/red ally deck that I'm not sure I wanna stick with. Thinking about building an artifact deck built around Nahiri.
>>
I want to build a RWU Hedron alignment deck that uses Nahirir since she alone can get the card into your hand, graveyard, AND exile. The hardest zone to get the card into now is exile which is why I wanted to use her in the first place. What else could I put in? I know the deck idea is bad, but building this kind of bullshit amuses me.
>>
>>46610468
Aegis angel is a pretty common rare you can throw in to add one indestructible. Though of course if the angel gets removed then yer a bit fucked.

Also, just to make sure this was ruled right last night, infinite reflection clones do NOT gain any counters/enchantments/artifact/creature granted (aegis angel + whatever i wanted to make a copy of) that the creature i am making clones of has already received, correct?

I wanted to copy my already indestructible guy but ended up turning 6 weenies into 8/8 tramplesaurs and destroying somebody last night in a last ditch attempt.
>>
Just whipped up a fast R/G aggro deck yesterday and went 3-1 against my buddy during lunch (we play fast).

http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/06-04-16-rw-control/
>>
>>46613571
Creatures you control don't copy whether the enchanted creature is tapped or untapped, whether it has any counters on it, whether it has any Auras and Equipment attached to it, or any noncopy effects that have changed its power, toughness, types, color, or so on.

So i was right, okay.
Damn. It should really copy the effects that are equipped to the card, but i can see how that might be a little overboard.

Still it was funny as shit to take a guys 8/8 dinosaur and then turn all my shit into 9/9 tramplesaurs (had all creatures 1+1) and one into a flying angel tramplesaur (aegis equipment 11/11) and just wreck my opponent.

Quick question. Does the madness or awaken cost count as the converted mana cost of the card while it's on the stack?
>>
>>46613852
nope
the only thing that can ever change a spell's CMC is if it has an X value
>>
>>46613237
I doubt you can build an artifact deck around Nahiri. Her only synergy with artifacts is her ultimate which you can't rely on.

She slots right into a madness deck however if it exists.
>>
>>46613852
No
>>
>>46613237
I have one RW Allies Equip, pretty consistent. Trying it now with Nahiri and Madness, looks solid so far.
>>
>>46614669
I had a R/W ally equip deck that just got better and more consistent the more cards I traded into it and the more copies of weapons trainer I shoved in there. Also helps having a play set of ally encampment.
>>
>>46610790
In limited, this thing is a bomb. Will constantly get stronger and feed you cards. Eventually you just get a superior card advantage when compared to your opponent.

If you're not a poorfag, add in four Kytheons and take out those envoys.
>>
>>46611326
I like investigate though because of flavor. It actually fits on a lot of cards, doing something and then finding out additional information. I'm honestly sad that next set it will probably be gone.
>>
>>46614720

>why is thing rising in price?
>well, you see, in limited...

Really?
>>
>>46614841
Got a list? I've been messing around with an aggressive allies list and only having mediocre results, with certain threats (like you said, Kalitas) becoming huge hurdles.
>>
>>46615203
It's a decent body creature that it's a draw engine and it grows. It's easier to trigger than Jori En.
>>
>>46615203
It also makes it so that when you draw lands it's not a wasted draw. Plus if you use multiples, you get multiple clues. They stack well with each other and can be boosted through outside means relatively easy. It's deceptively strong.
>>
>>46610790
It's a one card card advantage/aggression engine. It rewards you with cards and damage for playing the game and rewards ramp even more. Having all those tokens gives you combat options, too. Swing with tracker with 2 clue tokens and 4 mana up shows popping 2 tokens but can also be met with a combat trick instead. It doesn't need anything besides land drops for it to be good.
>>
>>46610790
It's because it uses landfall when evolving wilds is circulating. In fact, when has evolving wilds not been standard?

>>
>>46611871
He is really neat, but he requires too much build up for a prowess deck. You have to have a clue and sac it and have him on the field to before he is even relevant. Playing something like Nibilis of Dusk is a better choice.

Having captain's claws and stone forge masterwork on the same creature is basically GG for your opponents.

Still, you can play one and remove one Captain's Claws.
Which might just work.

Not true at all. Most memedrazi decks are still very playable, nothing rotates out for basically a year, and a good (read: expensive) eldrazi deck would still shit over many other decks the same way any expensive deck would. They still have a big impact on modern as well.

Thought knot seer, reality smasher, void winnower, kozilek/ulamog, kozileks return, world breaker, endless one etc. are all undeniably useful cards. I personally am interested to see something like inverter of truth used in SoI against mill decks and the like, could be interesting.

I skipped BFZ block because it was boring as shit but got interested again in SOI. What do you think about this deck? I've been playing it on cockatrice and it's pretty absurd when you have some combination of Jace, Geralf, and the Amalgam's in your opener.

It sort of falls apart when you're missing the flying zombos in your yard. I feel it needs more draw/looting but I don't know what.

I started in Lorwyn and stopped at Theros. Looking to get back in for casual FNM play.

Just bought a Shadows fat pack and the RB intro pack. Pulled some relevant stuff like Olivia, Foreboding Ruins, and Elusive Tormentor (inb4 Tormentor is garbage. I like it.)

Question: What staple discard outlets do you think BR Vampires will run? I haven't played in ten sets ; ~ ; halp.

It's W1 for unconditional removal. Opponent has unflipped Jace? Avacyn? Evasion beatstick? Ulamog? This gets them off the battlefield no questions asked. The only drawback is sorcery and maybe clue, but I would give them a clue to get Ulamog off the table any day.

>>46626691
I'm with the poorfag, it's pretty shit to spend that kind of money just for a piece of paper. If you're not playing competitively you might as well try to find some high quality fakes for fnm, the cost of the secondary market is obscene - $500 could get you an ok-ish standard deck that last 8-12 months, or it could feed you for a couple of weeks and get you a new video game etc. - the hours of enjoyment you're going to get from your $500 deck are probably not going to match the amount you spent on it, with the exception of people who are obsessed with the game or people who have money to throw around. Most average income earners and lower are not going to see the benefit to spending that kind of money on autism cardboard.
>>
>>46627044
I dunno about you, but I play Standard for at LEAST 6 hours a week. I'd maybe get 5 hours a week total out of a game... 45 minutes play a day before I get bored?
Going to Standard events mid-week soaks up 4 hours no problem, and on the weekend, casual games across multiple formats can easily take all day.
>2-hour commander game
>get knocked out
>bash some Standard matches waiting for the others to finish
Not to mention PPTQs.
>>
>>46627044
> $500 could get you an ok-ish standard deck that last 8-12 months
$500 could get you a top tier standard deck chock full of flip Jaces or Avacyns. the average competitive deck not running the too 2-3 cards will be quite a bit less
>or it could feed you for a couple of weeks and get you a new video game etc.
or it could buy you a few nights out or meals at a restaurant. and how is spending $X on video games any different than spending $X on Magic cards?

It's more the principle really, the secondary market inflates the price of cards significantly even though there is a clear surplus of cards, it makes no sense that a card should sell for 40-80$ when it is neither particularly good nor in particularly short supply from online sources, so it's incredibly frustrating - spending money on the hobby isn't the problem, it's the value you're getting - most of these cards simply aren't worth what they are being sold at.
>>
>>46627631
what card that isn't good ever sells for $40-80?

>>
>>46627703
From the current set, TITI, Avacyn, Arlin, Declaration in Stone - all ok cards and useful in the right setting, none are worth what they are currently selling for. And you look at the vendors that have 100+ in stock one week after release and have to wonder - if they reduced the price they might actually be able to sell them all rather than sell a handful at inflated prices.
>>
>>46627999
Avacyn and Declaration in Stone are great cards in current Standard.

Avacyn is the only one that's $40+. The rest are nowhere near that. Also worth mentioning that the only one currently in stock at StarCityGames is Arlinn (duh because it's shit)

>buying from SCG
>>
>>46628226
I don't buy from SCG, I'm European and can get an Avacyn for 25 bucks from MKM.

>>
>>46621407

Drop Jori En. She just doesn't do enough to make her worthwhile.

Maybe Geistblast or Harness the Storm? You'll still get a Prowess trigger from them and you'll still get a bit more mileage out of your spells. Plus your mana curve will be the same.

The deck I built is an Abzan Elves list. The white splash is mostly for removal and the ability to retrigger Shaman of the Pack, Dwynen's Elite, and Elvish Visionary off Eerie Interlude, which not only gives this dump your hand Aggro deck some surprising reach but also allows my field to evade Languish and Kozilek's Return. Also having access to Declaration in the mainboard is pretty cool.
>>What are you looking to see in the next couple weeks.
For the meta to settle down a bit so I know what things to throw in the sideboard. A single SGC tournament is not the way to take the temp of the meta, and while I'm throwing some sideboard options to fuck over Co-Co and Humans, I don't think they're going to be the dominant decks by any stretch.

I gotta say it's underwhelming. The amount of card advantage you need in anything but a strictly counter based deck to get it running against any build worthwhile is insane. I've gotten it to flip only once so far and there wasn't anything to bounce.

Your deck's concept is all wrong. With mill, you either go all the way or don't ho at all.

You can start by taking out Briarbridge Patrol. It serves no purpose whatsoever in your deck without any fatties to cheat into play.

Put in 3, even 4 copies of Forgotten Creation. It curves off Sphinx's Tutelage nearly and the hand cycling effect is gonna mill half your opponent's deck by itself and makes your clues more relevant, since each clue you sac is going to mean an additional draw (and thus an additional mill) with Forgotten Creation.

I myself have brewed a Tutelage deck for Modern today, similar to yours except its UB. I think its gonna work decently.

Creatures: 11
>Painter's Servant x4
>Forgotten Creation x4
>Jace, Vryn's Prodigy x3

Enchantments: 7
>Sphinx's Tutelage x4
>Waste Not x3

Instants & Sorceries: 18
>Glimpse the Unthinkable x4
>Visions of Beyond x4
>Ancestral Visions x3
>Surgical Extraction x3
>Dark Pact x4

Lands:
>Shelldock Island x2

I'm not too sure about the manabase, but 2 color should make it cheap.

Neither, fat packs are always a rip off. The best way to approach it is either test decks with proxies and buy all singles or buy boosters and go drafting until you build a decent card collection. That being said, for Innistrad the expected value of a box is around its price, so It can be a good buy if you have ways to trade cards. Usually me and some friends test around a bit, build decks without overlapping cards (or at least colors, some cards are just way too good to pass) then we split a box or two.

If you're itching to get some cards and crack some packs just get a toolkit. They're half the price of a fat pack and you get 4 packs.

A lot of the cards will be from previous sets but they'll all be Standard legal.

But the best option is to play some sealed at your local game store. You'll get to keep the cards you open and that will get you experience while you do some more research about the direction you want to take in the future.

No one knows if a card will find a home in a deck. With Standard this doesn't matter, since Avacyn is so good it warps the format. It doesn't simply GO in decks, it MAKES them. Any deck that runs white will be a better deck with Avacyn in it.

In Modern this isn't true though, since there is a much more ample card pool, therefore, it needs to find a home.

Still, lots of Modern staples were Standard Allstars, so there's a good chance it'll be played in a non-rotating format, which means its a safe investment that is likely to hold value on the long term.

Consider also that its a Mythic Rare and that odds are it won't see a reprint in +10 years if at all and its easy to understand why prices are so inflated. Plus, 'unusual' cards that are special in some way like like DFCs are at times prized as collector items and collectors don't mind paying degenerate amounts of money for a copy they are likely not to even ise in an actual game.

Plus its like really fucking good.

You may not have got any cool mythics but I bet you got a few things here and there that are good. Rares like Declaration in Stone or Tireless Tracker are currently worth a few bucks and easy to overlook.

Still, don't ever buy a fat pack again unless you're planning to keep it sealed and resell it when the price spikes in a few years.
