As as his vision started to give out and even basic cognition started ending, the last thing he could see was a flash of blue light, then blackness.
He awoke in something resembling an infirmary, only filled with power tools and fancy-looking computers. The first thing he noticed was the absence of the instinctive urges that had directed his every action for as long as he could remember. Yes… someone said the word… standby… but who…
“Ah, good, you’re awake,” said the second thing he noticed, the man ho had been his target. Yes… I remember now… The man introduced himself as Michel Kilkorov. “I know this must be a shock to you, but I’ve got a lot to explain, and there’s really no better time than now to do it.”
His memories of what could accurately be called his life were very, very few. The name of a small town in what we know as Belarus. An image of a man and a woman embracing (parents? he and his wife? hard to say). The sound of an explosion, screaming. A speedy helicopter ride. The sight of a base deep in the Urals. And pain, so much pain. At this point any pretense of normal life ends, and what had been his existence since begins.

Michel had been digging around in this timeline, and what information he was able to find paints this picture: at some point in the 2190’s, he had been in critical condition and was taken by a deep science military division. They had been trying to create a weapon that would bring a decisive end to the Germanic-Slavic War, and finally they had their first successful result: a human mind, heavily tortured and directed but still human, controlling a robotic form outfitted with the most advanced systems and given a single goal: locate targets, eliminate them. At first, this worked. The unit was completely autonomous, it’s goals were dictated by the conditioning it had received but it could go about them with the full creativity of a human mind with access to state-of-the-art tactical computing, and it’s weapon systems were unmatched by anything else on the battlefield. Exact records of it’s deeds no longer exist if indeed they did before, but one only need to look at the ruins to see where it went and what destruction it brought. It was so effective that the Slavs were rushing to make more, but they never got the chance. Something happened to destabilize the entirety of the European continent into a chaotic war zone, the War was only over in that there was no one fighting it. But the unit didn’t notice. It had a single directive, and it continued carrying it out. But over time, it became less discriminatory in its criteria for defining “target”, and it reached a point where it simply hunted whatever it could find. And that’s how he ended up rushing towards a heat signature it saw in a smokey crater with the intention of killing it with his bare hands. Lucky that Michel had already been looking for him.

Comet is his most used spell as the speed is very welcome while providing support fire by raining shards from high on the wall.

Force: Inertia, Unstoppable Force, Launch - represents the idea and meaning of what a wall is.

The writing's a bit clunky, some of the images aren't properly aligned (usually leaving a stripe of green between it and the top border, plus part of the UN pic even stretches past the right border), skill names seem a bit too close to their respective borders (to the point where lower-case Ps and Gs go under them), and the footer texts are a bit too close to the image boundaries.

If your CYOA is small, then there's probably no need to do it. But for anything larger, especially for more complicated works, there's nothing wrong with asking for advice. You need advice to get a good product. Anyone who has ever taken part of a project will tell you that a project is not complete without feedback. All of my major works involved showing WIPs and asking for advice before final release.

Carrie is waifu material. Others might be programmed to serve from the start, but Carrie is more likely to come about naturally. With her personality "defect", I doubt I'll have to worry about her trying to run off with Independent, though I definitely won't mistreat her at all.
I chose a house because Carrie would prefer to stay at home anyway. As much as I would prefer to have the Luxury Home personally, the Holo House is more suited to the AI's benefit, and it's not really a bad option overall.

They're pretty similar if you think about it. I feel that when most people think "bodyguard" they think of secret service which is generally viewed as acting from a reactionary position. But there's more then one way to skin a cat, why should I wait for the enemy come to me if I can go on the offense and get Intel on potential threats. I think the only real difference between bodyguard and secret agent is the sense of scale.

I wonder if there's some kind of plant incubator you can buy. Staying above 70 degrees isn't hard, but if you don't want something too androgynous or, even worse, hermaphroditic, you're gonna want to be far above that 70 to make sure they're purely female. Trying to keep your house at 80+ degrees is not only hard, it's expensive and pretty miserable for you as a person. Outside is unreliable, especially if you live in a place like I do where the temperature will vary between the 70's one day and nearly 100 for the next, meaning a stretch of bad weather can fuck up the gender of the plant or outright kill it. When I see a work in progress, I usually end up playing the half-CYOA & then I'm tired of it by the time the whole thing is done. Sure, I can ignore them no problem, in which case they're just taking up space, which isn't a problem, really. I don't believe image / post limits are that valuable a resources since we make new threads all the time. "Hate" is a bit a strong word, but they're certainly not anything that I think helps my experience. As a reader, I'd be just as fine without any getting posted as if they get posted. As an author, I consider my own dislike of them as a reader & try to have a complete thing before I post it. I don't think advice is that essential a thing, once you can gauge what is and is not liked by the thread. Besides, if there's anything major, you can always just change it in a later version. That happened to me recently, when I realized my monitor settings were all kinds of horrible and a CYOA was apparently too bright & saturated to look at. Since this behavior encourages new versions post-release, it can also (at least I try to do this) encourage additional content to be added along with the fixes, which I think is nice. In short, I think it is better to just post a finished thing and change it then than to post an unfinished thing and change it before the complete version. But then again, I'm not bothered by what other people do in the regard.
