Have clones ever been a part of your campaign?

Why would a clone be inclined to kill the original?

Watch any movie with clones in it like The Island or Star Trek Nemesis. There could be a law or the clone's expiration date that will urge it to kill the original.

Sometimes it's pride, sometimes it's an alibi or it's paranoia.

Maybe the clone thinks it's the original. Or wants to be.

I played a magical girl game once where a player had a marionette power (basically made a copy of themselves that they controlled like a puppet.).

As the game went on and the stresses of magic and life-or-death monster battles went on, the ability began to "mutate"... the character's mind began to shatter, and pieces of her personality went into the marionettes. At first this would just show up with them manifesting with slight differences from the original. Different hair color, eyes, even gender on time.

Then one day, they gained enough sentience to avoid being dispelled and re-absorbed... and had this idea that if they could kill another magical girl (not necessarily the original only, so they were a threat to the whole party) that they could somehow absorb their souls and become "real". They ended up becoming the final BBEGs of the campaign.

The two BBEGs in our campaign are alchemists who, among other illegal things, using clones to do their bidding/fuck things up good. One of the player characters turned out to be one who escaped and made a life for himself.

The man they are all based off of is a 90 year old who probably knows the answers to this whole mess but would rather see us fix it our own way.

>The original is a multi-billionaire in a high position of power
>clones are back ups in the event of the original's death, also kept for their organs to be harvested in the event of life threatening disease
>basically the plot of the island
>they have the memories of the original (so they can replace the original properly)
>clones escape and/or are freed
>if they manage to kill and replace the original, they would effectively become them to everyone around them, gaining their wealth, admiration, power etc.
>of course this whole thing is highly unethical so it's kept under wraps
>if the original tries to explain the situation to anyone, they're just going to think they're crazy

Depends on the setting, maybe the original literally owns the clone as you'd own a slave.

In one game a character had her physiology fucked with, so that she started reproducing asexually. Like, every time she reached some sufficient amount of food/nutrients consumed, she'd divide into two identical bodies of herself in a pretty long and gross process. The clones didn't have much a reason to kill her since they didn't get her knowledge/intelligence, just some memories but she initially was motivated to kill them out of worry and fear which is how we came to meet her/she joined the group, identical dead bodies of the same woman kept turning up in the city.

I like it when the original gets amnesia so neither knows which is the original

I'm sorry but clones trying to kill the prime is retarded unless the prime is mentally ill. Most normal people would be thrilled to get an extra them.

Woman with several clones. Original was married to a particular scientist. At one point, said scientist mistook one of the clones for the original and slept with her. This caused a falling out between the original and all of the clones (she wasn't sure which one fucked her husband), and the clone wants to kill the original to protect herself from the mistress's murderous purges.

>Why would a clone be inclined to kill the original?
A. Killing the original is something all clones would do
B. Killing the original is something the cloned individual would do if they discovered they were a clone
C. Killing the original is a compulsion caused by an error in the cloning process
D. Killing the original is the only moral option because the original is an evil monster and only the clone has the intimate knowledge of their inner thoughts to know it and also a fresh perspective to see that the evil must be stopped, even it means they must die too.
E. What did you think was going to happen when you cloned a murderhobo?

How about when they're both the original?

Running a Star Wars game set slightly before A New Hope, one of the PCs is a semi-retired clone advising a rebel cell. He's had to deal with his advanced aging and the fact that everyone in the Galaxy will recognise him if he's seen in public, so he's mostly shut inside or on the rebel flagship all the time.
Currently he's been trying to convince his group to help him find a missing Kaminoan scientist who may know how to combat the accelerated aging.

Does it even matter who the original is? All of them can go live their own lives if they want to, maybe hang out every few years to see how things are going for them.

I'm playing a Cyberpunk game where we are all part of a bioroid project. We were all made in a lab by splicing up a genome and customising it to the nth degree so we are all 'perfect' humans.
In the advent any of us die, the new duplicate will take up the mantle and all our memories are altered so we all remain unaware of our deaths.

This had slowly led to us developing Messiah Complexes we think ourselves immortal.

Yes, we helped uncover a plot where two guilds collaborated into making trans-planar abductees into a mass-produced labor force with altered memories, turned out that our tour-guide NPC was a clone the whole time and fell into an identity crisis. Got most of the originals back home aside from the ones that wanted to stay, and the clones got rowdy at the fact that they couldn't really go home themselves without huge backlash.

No idea, the only reason I can think of is if they're being treated with less respect than their original, or some other jealousy-type deal.
