Hey, /tg/, this'll be the first time i'll be doing one of these. Rules for this are simple. I'm going to post a fuckton of text, followed by a set of options. Sometimes there'll be more, sometimes there'll be less. Regardless, the rules for you guys are to take a choice from the options provided and roll a d100 for effectiveness. I'll only look at the first 10 comments after any options are given for rolls determined. To make your votes matter, i'm going to go with the highest voted option, followed by highest rolls. Yes, you guys are allowed to add minor details for flavor. Anyways, let's get this thing rolling.

You wake up in a pitch dark, empty, generically ambiguous room. It's kind of hard to determine where you are at the moment. In fact, it's even harder to determine who you are at the moment, as you cannot see a damn thing about you in the pure darkness. Suddenly, a flash of memory hits you.

Where are you and how did you get here?

Well, if we're starting out as an Overlord, this option would fit. I assume the reason we're having trouble remembering who we are is because of the victory celebration.

I'm thinking Overlord failed his first conquest. Disastrous result that lost his minions and companions. We wake up years later. A new reign. Starting from scratch. New alliances to forge. New races to enslave.

Ah, yes, now you remember. What a terrible night. They took everything, down to the scraps of gold used for decoration. Damn those minions of yours. If only they were more competent. Suddenly, light appears in the room, and you hear a creaky but familiar voice.

No rolls from any of you, but alright. Moving on.

You view yourself and feel a tad heavy from the heavy mail and full plate, but it gives you a sense of both comfort and power. You look up at your trusted advisor, Gnarl. The only competent one, anyways. As you move to acknowledge and address him, he speaks up.

Getting there, this stuff takes a bit of time.

After pondering over your decisions for a bit, you realize that you will quickly need to regain your supplies, and the villages nearby will be the ones to suffer for it in one way or another.

You stretch, examine your outfit briefly, and begin to march through the keep, examining what is left of it. You find that there is little aside from the stone itself left, no matter where you look. Even the tables from the Feasting Hall were taken or splintered, though that might have been your doing.

You also examine the Hives, and notice that all of them are extremely damaged, and most might as well be non-functioning. Seems that you will need to repair those, too.

You also decide to visit the Forge, and notice that that it is utterly destroyed. You'll need to scavenge the materials to repair it, though your trusted smith seems to be well enough off. Seems he was hiding with your current jester, as well. For some reason, the outfit soothes and irritates you simultaneously. You choose not to dwell on that too much. Or, you would, if he didn't make fun of your outfit just then. You weren't quite paying attention, so you roar at him to repeat himself. He says you are wearing:

Tempted to be a dick and say "The headpatters actually rolled, so..." but I won't be That Guy. Yet, anyways. (Also, this is the last half hour iteration)

You keep the remark in mind, making sure to stick him out of his jester uniform (Which you just can't bring yourself to destroy) and throwing him into the front lines. Speaking of the front lines, you realize you've forgotten something. Your weapon. It should be back in the throne room, but you've forgotten it's shape entirely. Upon asking, the smithie tells you the last weapon you made him make. What was it?

As the smithie explains what exactly the enchantment is, (As well as a Minion can tell you, anyways) Gnarl appears, and cackles a bit.

>All, including the Jester and Gnarl himself

You scrounge around the quarters some more and eventually find a thick, cotten rug, stained black from the ash and soot from the recent fires, though now it's mildly gnawed on the part you decide to use for the backside. Damn minions. With minor cutting and shoddy reparations (You never were a good craftsman) you manage to make a full cowl. Minus your exposed headpiece, which is still a tad broken.
Doesn't matter, they'll know who you are, and you'll show them what you do once more. CONQUER.

After rallying, you form up your troops, eventually haggling with Gnarl and having him stay behind to train and teach the new minions, possibly having them follow if they finish training quickly enough. Otherwise, they're going to neaten up the place. That aside, you MARCH. You decide to attack:

>At dawn, just to scare the shit out of them
>In broad daylight, so they can clearly see everything
>Twilight, because aesthetic and you get to pull a Mushashi on any potential heroes they might have
>Night, because you and your forces have darkvision but the puny peasant can't. Also, nostalgic advanced tactics are superior.

You decide to come at night, with no (lit) torches. That way you will arrive when they're sleepy and more or less defenseless. Not to mention they'll have a harder time seeing through the literal holes in your armor. You arrive at twilight the next day, and wait until nightfall.

Upon arriving, your minions close off the directions that the filthy peasants might escape, leaving the jester and you on one side, at the West. The jester sparks up a single torch, so that you are partially in shadow. You bellow out to the citizens.

>Approach the door of the largest residential building and knock upon it with great force thrice.
A small child answers the door, asking who, and then what, you were. You lean over, intimidating in the partial light, and say "Your new king. Rouse your family, and tell them all to get to the square, as there needs to be a town meeting."
You think briefly, and also state "And rouse the other townsfolk, as well, when you're done. Feel free to tell your family to do the same. I don't have all night."

Within an hour, the townsfolk that aren't dead drunk conglomerate around you, lowly murmuring. The jester stands near you, barely illuminating yourself and the crowds' awestruck faces. After a few moments of chatter, you stand, taking the torch and raising it near your helm. There's a gasp, and an adult, male voice cries out.
"NO! YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE DEAD! THE HEROES SAID THEY KILLED YOU!"
You chuckle, and give a retort.

>The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated
>BRING HIM FORWARD!
>I don't even know if i'm alive, senpai.
>Silently step into the crowd from your stone soapbox and kill him where he stands
>Have the jester kill him. Possibly with the torch. Or the helmet.
>Say you forgive him for interrupting, continue diplomacy
>Ignore remark entirely, begin negotiations
>Other/Write In

(Don't forget your rolls this time. There's a lot of options, and the rolls will actually matter this time. [I swear] Gonna go with highest roll of an option as how effectively the Overlord performs it from now on, as actions are starting to matter.)

The "heroes" broke into my castle, stole most of my stuff and killed many of my minions. You should be upset at them for stealing from your rightful king.

I have to see how this would end. On the plus side, it'll intimidate the foolish peasants. If it goes south, well it'll be worth the laughs.

The people fall deadly silent, and you begin diplomacy. The offer is simple. Pay taxes, don't provide housing or other such resources to rebels. Do those things, and there will be no problem. When it comes to taxing, you give them a simple figure.

>10% of crops, since I really only need to feed myself
>25%, just in case
>50%, and expecting bartering from the people. Declare the reason to be for the future prosperity of the kingdom.
>90%, and wait for someone to retaliate to make an example of them
>5% of crops, 10% of other materials (Wool, women, essence mining, population, etc)

"An amount to be defined later, after i have inspected your productivity."

I would suggest 20% of crops and 5% of materials, with labour being called on from their village at any time except harvest and sowing seasons.

Because we might need to feed the minions as well and we'll need a surplus just in case and we don't want to take away too much food at the moment. Other then that.
>10% of other materials (Wool, women, essence mining, population
Especially women, not simply for pleasure, but because we need to send a message that we'll take what we damn well please.

On a side note, the woman should be young virgins of course. Have to keep up the usual evil tyrant routine after all. And nothing makes a better hostage than a young maiden.

After making the demands, there's a small murmur amongst the people as they decide.

They come up with a single question: How, when, and how often will the taxes and taking of X women be occurring?

>Yearly, via ritualistic pilgrimage to the castle keep. Probably just one a year.
>Bi-yearly, at the start of spring and at the end of harvest. Because reasons.

Only one who rolled. Also, last post for tonight.

You declare that the tribute will be sent by the people to your magnificent (but also currently ruined) keep. The people are encouraged to give up a woman once every four years. Also, if they skimp out on your GENEROUSLY KIND offer for taxes, they'll be purged with extreme prejudice. With the citizens agreeing to that, you make some minor demands as the first taxing, being payed forward and then returning to the yearly cycle. You DO have a castle to repair, after all. You decide to focus mostly on the wood and materials, rather than food or wealth such as gold. They begrudgingly send out a good chunk of the hamlet to accommodate the caravan of goods they begin sending to your palace.

The tithings will prove to be enough. For now. But you don't know what tomorrow will bring, or what storms you will have to weather in the future. You hope you have made the right decisions, as you cannot remember what you did wrong to earn your demise previously.

Just realized I did 16 posts in 12 hours. Oh well, hope you all enjoyed yourselves. Might do p2 tomorrow.
