>slut street
>Yes, there is a "Slut Street" in Waterdeep. Yes, I put it there. And no, the word 'slut' had no sexual connotation to British and Canadian folks until the last 15 years or so (creeping American influence). It meant "a slovenly woman" or, in earlier times, "a working drudge." So this was where the poor serving wenches dwelt, shopped, and could be hired - not a Prostitutes' Row. -Ed Greenwood

Okay... I still don't get what he's trying to say. So it's not a street full of whores but a street full of low class "serving wenches" that you can hire. So what exactly kind of business goes on in Slut Street?
>>

but isn't a prostitute essentially a slovenly wench who can be hired?
>>
>>46553194
Cooking, cleaning, gutting fish, probably a bit of whoring too, sure, but the point is that slut just mean unclean or common, nothing overtly sexual.
>>
So where would you go in Waterdeep for whoring?

Horn street.

Those ladies will polish your horn for pennies on the copper.

Anywhere near the docks is usually a good answer.

If you have class, you go to the street of the silks.

Geoffrey Chaucer used the word 'sluttish' in 1386 to describe a slovenly man. Later, Greenwood put Slut Street on his map so he could talk about whores whilst lecturing others on his imagined intellectual superiority. Today, anon posts yet another Muh Dick topic to /tg/ for no evident fucking reason whatever. Bravo, OP.

Man, Waterdeep is defensible as fuck. How would you take the city, anon?
>>
>>46553194
Is that fenced-off green area a noble's district of some sort and if so, why is it bordering the city walls and nowhere near the palace?
>>

It's a graveyard called "City of the Dead"

Undead sometimes raise up and wonder around, hence why it's walled off. Adventurers sometimes to go there to grind exp.

Also like swiss cheese with passages leading to undermountain.

I wait for a major undead trouble in that "City of the Dead" thing so that city authorities call for outside help to deal with it, at which point my LN holy order jumps in to take out the undead.

However, in the process of smiting and cleaving we TOTALLY DISCOVER major cults of Evil deities, rampant corruption and a plague outbreak waiting to happen (that we TOTALLY DID NOT PUT IN THERE OURSELVES). City's top authorities are brought to a trial on the charges brought up from blackmail material (provided to us by competing trade associations from distant cities), and defenders of the city are ordered to allow our agents onto the battlements and forts for a throughout investigation, under the threat of divine punishment.

City's heads are then executed after some kangaroo justice. At which point we proceed to take the castle and harbor forts from the inside, slaughter the guard and use forts as our strongpoints as we start purging the city street by street. We don't aim to take the outer walls as people are welcome to flee the city - most of them will end up slaughtered in the open by our mercenaries parked outside (paid with a promise of pillaging the city once we're done with it). Docks and living areas are set on fire. Order's top clerics start dropping Meteor Swarms on the outer wall forts. The only local crimelords that we did execute were the sensible ones, so now the city gangs and thief circles, overtaken by powerhungry assholes, join in on the pillagefest.

After cleaving, smiting and pillaging the living shit out of everything defenseless within the walls, we make a praise to the eternal mercy of our gods, pack our shit and leave the ruins to roving gangs, plague and the undead.

Justice is motherfucking served.

You'll be looking for something like Grape Lane.

This is the name typically used by those streets which cleaned up the earlier name. Gropecunt Lane.

Britbong here. Greenwood is a lying shit. "Slut" wasn't a preferred term and considered quite vicious in a way terms like "tart" weren't, but it was definitely a sexual term.

He put "slut" there for the same reason old London had a Gropecock Lane. It was where the fucking whores were.

This gentrification shit has to stop.
