From unable to understand PoW to absolutely drowning in it in one big step.

So my GM is arguing that Vizier is overpowered because they can switch Essence between all their veils as a swift action. He says it's like how an arcanist can change their spells as a full round action, except that Vizier is capable of doing it all day. So he's proposed that in order to change essence between veils you can shift one point as a swift that provokes, or all points as a full round action that provokes. How do I tell him that this nerf is unnecessary without murdering him, causing him harm, insulting him, or leaving the game?

Probably not Alchemist, they're limited in times/day and variety of blast.

Maybe Kineticist with homebrew rules that let you take as much burn as your pool has to increase damage dealt

He specifically cited the dragon breath veil and the one veil that increases fire damage as like a better burning hands but doable all day.

Hey guys, I just realized something. I've been trying to figure out how to make the "Phantom Thief" rogue archetype actually playable in a combat since it give up all combat ability. Then I realized it stacks with the "Hidden Blade" archetype from PoW:E.........thank you DSP

Any anons played Hell's Rebels before? What did you think of it and how much of it is urban?

Sometimes I think if a book came out with a wizard archetype that didn't need a spellbook and prepared like a cleric did and a fighter archetype that could hold its breath, climb, and swim all day without spending anything, some people would be more suspicious of the fighter archetype because ALL DAY.

There's just so many fucking things, I don't know how to even choose, and I can't just fully build them all without fucking up the magic of preparing a character specifically for a particular group/campaign. So I'm stuck making all these character skeletons.

If Bushi let me pick my exotic weapons, I would totally do a Prodigious TWF Brutal Bushi with Bastard Swords and/or Falcatas, though. Don't even care that the feat tax is about the same as a dex-build, shit would be tight.

>>
Is Furious Focus actually a decent option for most initiators? While most of the strongest maneuvers are full attack+, there are plenty of single-hit ones that would certainly love the extra damage at the low cost of a single low-level feat.
>>
>>46513480
What's the least disappointing part, in your opinion? The most disappointing part?
>>
>>46513498
That's all defensive stuff though, nothing you can offensively use it for.
>>
>>46513511
It's alright. I wouldn't call it necessary, but if you can fit it into your build and you want to use a lot of single attack strikes, it's helpful.
>>
>>46512925
Pathfinder really isn't designed with pvp in mind-- it's a cooperative game. Classes are (mostly) built with the idea of resource management and taking down non-human foes of varying number and health in mind, while pvp stresses making builds that focus on high-damage, high-initiative characters to wipe out a similarly-leveled foe before they can act.
>>
>>46513511
I'm not really sure full BAB types ever want Furious Focus, actually. It might be okay for a 3/4s BAB character, but I've been thinking about retraining it away on my magus for a long time. I can't imagine being an initiator with full BAB would endear me more to the feat.
>>

Some of the most fun I've had in Pathfinder has been my maxed out Crossblooded fire Sorcerer, using Words of Power. Not nearly at the level of power that a mage in this system can be, but hell if isn't an absolute blast setting everything in sight on fire. I don't even have to think about it, just pick a slot-appropriate fire word, and whichever target words seems most interesting at the moment.

My local GM has been running a pure-crunch dungeon crawl for a while to learn the system. I'm normally not into that sort of game (I prefer at least an attempt at a story and some RP), but I wanted the excuse to hang out with friends that I didn't get to see very often. Literally the only redeeming feature of that game (other than the aforementioned hanging out with friends) was that I could switch out my character whenever I felt like it, to get a few sessions in of all the cool builds I've been dying to try out.

He's decided to start over and try a more story-based game, so it looks like I'm gonna have to stick with one character for a while. I hope he doesn't suck at it, or it's gonna be a rough campaign.

I like to make my 'wands' as pieces of stone, that are then mounted onto a grip, with a trigger, a trigger guard and sights. The completion word is usually "Pewpewpew" and the action is the squeezing of the trigger.

The blocks the spells are cast on, are small rectangles, and are somewhat interchangeable. Identified by a rune and coloration. I prefer ray spells, particularly scorching ray.

These "wands" are masterwork quality.

Overall the whole thing looks like a pistol. Image related.

>Team speak within 600' at level 5
>Can heal or buff the entire party at once, allowing a true "white mage" playstyle
>Can transfer wounds to myself
>Can steal HP from enemies

I have never seen so coordinated a party. I can't imagine how horrifying this would be in a dungeon crawl.

>>

>>46515882
Building off what the first reply mentioned, you want Path of War has to offer; there's an archetype that trades out spellcasting (let's face it, paladin spells are lackluster anyhow) for limited initiating.

Frankly, Cleave sucks ass. You're better off using a strike that grants two attacks than burning a feat on it, and the easiest way to use Two Big Swords is the Stupendous Strength feat + Prodigious Two-Weapon Fighting feat + Two-Weapon Fighting + Thrashing Dragon maneuvers. Trait out of Silver Crane or something.

I should note, this does remove Smite Evil, but you get other abilities that are thematically the same, so you're fine - and if you insist on Actually Using Smites, you can always just take the Martial Training line on a regular Paladin in Primal Fury for giga-smiting action.

And if you're going that second route, you'd better go Nightguard. Nothing like expanding from Smite Evil to Smite Non-Good.

Where is your proof these things are truly gods worthy of worship, and not simply very powerful beings that demand tribute and give power to others?

Beyond that, how do you prove they even exist outside of divine intervention? You know the difference between divine and arcane casting because of game mechanics, but how do you prove those distinctions within the setting itself?

Just because all kinds of crazy monsters and otherworldy beings exist doesn't mean they're gods and not simply beings that exist in another world.

>>46514618

There is a rogue class that is meant to simulate this, but it isn't all that great. The Unchained Rogue update is better - still not great, but quite handy. If you do not mind having a bit of magic on the side, the bard class is quite good - it is somewhat of a jack of all trades, but it has quite a few tricks related to messing with people, and can easily work for a very decent sneaksman. If you want to use archetypes, consider the archeologist and the sandman - they lose a bit of party utility, but become better at traps, sneaking and the like..

Investigator and slayer can also work, though slayer is more backstabber than con-man.

Lets say that if I was doing an epic level campaign, and I had maxed out a warpriest character, what would my next class be? I would rather not continue as a Warpriest.

My initial thoughts went with an Eldritch Knight instead of a Magus because I really want BAB. I've been feeling sort of lost in this nasty middle ground as a Warpriest where I just feel useless in certain situations, especially when things resort to close up fighting and I lack both attack bonus and damage from my martial weapon.

Maybe one of you guys can help me out. Still a noob at all this.

The mithral-whatever fighter archetype from Lords of the Wild?
>>
>>46517943
Your self buffs should be making up for the difference. Also see if you can retrain into the archetype that gives weapon training; huge boost right there.

Monk maybe? Pretty fun with double bloodcrow strike for two full attacks. Then again, you probably want to keep up the casting... but it's not like low level magus stuff is going to be that helpful. Your swift actions are already overcrowded as is.

... could a Magus/ punchy Warpriest get 3 full attacks with spellcombat+bloodcrow strike+quickened bloodcrow strike?
>>
>>46518000

>Monk maybe?

Unchained Monk seemed like an interesting alternative maybe. Casting felt like a more reasonable option as I would make myself useful in both fields, but I can see myself sticking with divine and just punching people the fuck out.

I hate my DM.

We finished a quest and aquired money from the governor. Nothing special.

The abandoned castle we tried to buy was in the middle of a forest, built in the valley. The trees that were taller then the walls were not removed at all, and they couldn't grow back because the castle was abandoned only for three years.

When we tried to restore it, every single caravan with building materials we sent was eaten by wolves, despite the fact that it was heavily guarded.

When we finally used magic to restore the castle, a seven thousand strong army of the local warrior cult appeared and conquered the castle. They never bothered to attack anything else.

We escaped, but were found and executed. No one told us why.

They're not ashamed of being fey, but they certainly do try to hide it (hence their name, Hulder, which means covered or hidden.)

Their name literally means hidden, though.

Their entire thing is looking human, but not being human.

At least that's the only consistent theme for the Huldra, their behavior changes depending on the century or region talking about them; sometimes they're seductive forest spirits that reward men who can satisfy them sexually, others are cruel malicious assholes that lure humans into caves, others are tough working-wives that find love (and humanity) in the arms of woodsmen.

/pfg/, I decided to put a railroad in Andoran. The set-up is that the Lumber Consortium and the government of Andoran, with the aid of dwarvish and Druman investors and hired engineers from Alkenstar hoping to test the concept before implementing it in the Mana Wastes with some features that will keep the railroad from getting wrecked by wild magic storms, have been constructing this series of rails for the past year, with the aim of decreasing overland freight costs of lumber and other goods. The lines from Darkmoon Vale and the Verduran Forest are most important, and the line heading to Highhelm through the mountain (and eventually to Druma though construction of the tunnel hasn't been completed yet). This also highly increases the rate at which the forests are being logged, bringing fey and druidic relations to a boiling point as the Lumber Consortium gains more influence over the government. I've got a few things I'd like feedback on though.

Does this amount of work seem believable, or should I scale it back a few years? I was also thinking that a Lyre of Building could have been involved at some point to help speed up construction.

Like other early trains, they can carry passengers but that's not where the bulk of their profit comes from. How much should I charge PCs for overland travel on the train per mile? Would it be only slightly more expensive than cabs and carriages at about 5 copper pieces a mile, or more expensive than that?

Does it make sense to connect to Triela or Cassomir? Would Triela's importance as a destination for log drivers diminish with the arrival of the train, or would they work in conjunction? The Cassomir connection was mostly an afterthought, seeing as it's so close to the border and the governor of the town apparently wanted to improve relations with Andoran (Grand Prince Stavian III will cack it halfway through the campaign so this might lead into an annexation in the ensuing political struggles.)

Am I the only one who thinks it's weird that the Vigilante's two identities ACTUALLY have two different alignments, instead of the PC having one alignment like normal and appearing to all sorts of alignment-detection effects as if he were whatever other alignment when in his other identity?

It strikes me as unusual that taking a minute to psych yourself up and change your identity would actually change your alignment. It's like you're not just hiding your identity with a costume, you're actually swapping personas, like there are two people in your body that you pass control between. Is that the intention?

I don't take it as outright multiple personalities, though I guess it could be played that way.

I'd say it's more an allowance for actions taken in either identity to not drag the character around the alignment chart. Bruce Wayne can be a dumb rich party boy and do stupid chaotic shit all day, but Batman can remain neutral good no matter how far Bruce goes. Yeah yeah Batman alignment arguments fuck off

Or, in my personal case, my social identity can be literally just a smart bat that does bat stuff smartly, while the vigilante identity is an actual adventurer. WEREBATKIN STRONK, WHERE MY SHAPESHIFTERS AT, KITSUNE GIRLS HOLLA

The gauntlet is part of a set the GM invented called the Invoiker's Regalia. Each piece has its own capabilities, but with every part attained, each piece upgrades its bonuses and unlocks a new set of abilities.

>Invoker's Gauntlet: +3 Ghost Touch, Spell Storing, Spell Stealing; grants ghost touch weapons held. By spending one mythic point, the user sheathes a spell in a thin layer of force, essentially granting spells the Ghost Touch property. Additionally, if the user identifies a spell being cast with spellcraft and that spell is stored in the gauntlet, the user can automatically succeed at a counterspell. This consumes the spell. If a mythic point is spent, the spell is not consumed.

>Invoker's Robes: +4 Int, +5 bonus to Spellcraft, Kc: Arcana, and UMD. Every times the user casts a spell, the robes have a 25% chance to spawn a Mirror Image. This lasts a number of minutes equal to the original spell level of the spell cast; the image may also be expended as a free action to "re-cast" the spell at 50% effectiveness, as if cast by Shadow Evocation, Shadow Conjuration, etc.

The Scythe is her Arcane Bonded object. Sadly it's presently a mere +1 Silversheen scythe. Haven't really had the opportunity to upgrade it during the course of the campaign as of yet since I needed to be sure the rest of the party was tip-top. After this story arc though, everyone's going to have to wait for me to get Elsbeth's gear finally taken care of; been neglected for too long.
>>
>>46522481
But that's what I'm saying, the fact that the two identities both actually have an alignment of their own means that they both seem to have their own personality. It would make more sense if the PC had his own alignment and then detected (but wasn't actually) as a different, chosen alignment in is other identity.

I don't think it allows for actions of one identity to not move the other character around the alignment table. From my understanding of how the class works, if your social identity is CG and your Vig identity is CN, and you do something as a Vig that changes your alignment one step towards evil, it affects BOTH alignments, making your social CN and vig CE. Your social identity and vig identity can't be two steps apart from each other.

Yeah, but that's in the case where the identities move towards opposite sides of the alignment chart. I'm talking about the two sticking to two sides that share a corner (CN and NG, LN and NE) and being free to go as deep as they want on one aspect of alignment, but then drop it entirely when the identities switch.

The GM has a Regalia set for each party member, in addition to a "Legacy" item, weapon, and/or set. Elsbeth's Legacy set she's been collecting are the Six Mourning Princesses, which are a set of six Elven Curved Blades. Each sword is a +2 with some encryption; each sword has a unique ability, but that ability is locked away until certain conditions are met. Of the one's Elsbeth has collected thus far:

>Daybreak: Three times per day, when unsheathing this blade, the wielder can command it to blind all targets facing her (Reflex DC 16) that are within 40 feet. Targets effected are blind for 1d4 rounds and dazzled for an equal number of rounds after.

>Dusk: Teleport to Dusk or Dusk to user anywhere so long as the two are on the same plane; Free Action

>Dawnstar: N/A - yet to be awakened; Needs to strike 10 enemies affected by illusionary effects (a bit ambiguous on specifics) and/or while the user benefits from an Insight bonus to attacks.

>Moonlight: N/A - yet to be awakened; Slay 10 Zombies (minimum of half the user's HD), then heal at least half maximum HP from a single source.

So yeah. If anyone's wondered why the hell the Wizard is carrying around curved blades.

That's not really a concern, though. Point of scrying is usually to find out where people are and/or get a visual lock for teleport, not to explicitly spy on them. At most, you're wanting to see who's around them, and them seeing that they're being scryed isn't gonna deny you that knowledge.

Any information you could get via eavesdrop-scrying is just as easily obtainable through other divinations.

>Scrying can be enormously useful for a spy, if the circumstances all align well for the scryer, but it isn’t particularly useful on its own for a potential teleport. The 10-foot-radius visual requires the target to move in order to provide a clear idea of the layout of the destination, and the spell doesn’t directly indicate the location. The PCs must use contextual clues to figure this out, unless they already know where the target is.

Thats why you target normies. Not everyone will have HD ranks in perception and even then only people whos specific duty it is to keep watch take 10 on their perception checks.

And even if they did notice, big deal? Does Hammus the gardener have ranks in knowledge: arcana? I think not.
>>
>>46523224
The guy you REALLY want intel on is going to notice the scrying sensor by taking 10 on Perception.
>>
>>46523207
No, it says that you may have to derive the location from context clues. That's generally not too hard once you've gotten a glance at the sight via scrying, given that you're a divination caster.

The GM can shut you down by saying there's not enough to go on, of course, but what else is new?
>>
>>46523259
You can't take 10 on a check you don't know you're making. In fact, you take a -5 to Perception checks for being distracted.

And motherfucking Karzoug only has a +22 to his Perception, he'd fail to notice a 7th level scrub scrying on him while he works seven times out of twenty. You can say whatever you like about villains you yourself make, but stuff in pre-written modules is not that hard to get over on.

Snowdrifts. Deep ones.

a sudden 30ft drop into a crevasse of snow is dangerous.

He's kind of got a point, you know.

When's the last time you actually encountered a genuine manly character in tabletop?

>>46523603
Often, quite often.

Is this like, your first session or something?

Because if it's the first session I'd totally just drop out, since it seems like things are just going to get weirder.

If it's like the fifth session and you've established your character, I'd just see how things have gone and where you think they're going and make a rational decision that way.

Bara doesn't count as manly, anon.

Maybe this is why most male characters in Paizo works are either evil, horribly underdeveloped or flagrant homosexuals.

Because they simply don't understand what a man is.

Bara is the manliest thing imaginable.

I've been rolling with them for around 2 months before I caught onto the whole gay thing.

I feel really stupid now and dropping out would pretty much prove my case against me so I've decided to stick around and be willfully oblivious to their gay antics.

So this is it. A shitty little players guide to my super special OC donut steel campaign. Check it out if you're interested. I was doing a big ass flavorful essay thing about the setting, but then realized there really is little point in explaining a generic background setting that will have little impact on the story.

It is just about the dawn of the Middle Ages in the continent of Eulith, where the chaos and barbarism brought about by the fall of the Aurum Empire is coming to an end. You, THE PLAYERS, are part of an expedition sailing across the Great Ocean into mystery, one of six expeditions to celebrate the one hundred year anniversary of the Kingdom's founding.

It's post-Roman empire colonialism.

Over time, you'll play as your descendants, time-skipping forward. So there will be waifus. There will be kingdom building. There will be mass warfare.

If you are interested, fire off a character sheet to my Skype@ Tender Moment. It should be fun.

This is my first time GMing online, so uh, I'm not 100% sure how I'll be running it. Open to suggestions.

Manliest character ever.

Isn't Bara just an overemphasis on muscles and traditional manly things, to the point it becomes their defining feature?

Bara is a bit different than being a pretty manly dude.

Bruh, there's nothing wrong with "proving them right" because the end-result of them being proved right is you moving on with your life, them moving on with your life, and neither of you ever really seeing the aftermath of it all.

Sticking it through means putting up with their gay antics until you eventually snap, which will happen sooner rather than later and will most likely result in their point being proven even harder.

Kurgess is like the manliest thing ever.
>>
>>46523845
this guy looks like the Zapp Branigan of golarion
>>
>>46523924

Kurgess is not manly because of his glistening muscles or massive dick.

Kurgess is manly because he's an honest team-player who respects the rules and pushes people to achieve their full potential.
>>
>>46523979
And does so by raising morale with his glistening muscles and massive dick.
