Hi all. I'm posting to let people watching know that we have sent out another wave of emails to people about the commissions from Chris' GoFundMe. If the previous waves of emails got lost or trapped in the spam folder, then hopefully these ones will reach the people who still haven't been contacted.

If you donated to the GoFundMe for a commission, please check the inbox and spam folder of the email you used for that.

We really are sorry for the communication issues that this process has been having, and hope to get this show on the road once we have people responding to work with us on the commissions.

And overall, I cannot thank you enough for the money that went to help Chris.

From last thread;

How contrived would it be for a scenario to come up wherein two elven families have arranged a political marriage between their heirs to seal an alliance.

Only for both of said heirs to turn out as boys. Neither of them have a real problem with the marriage, but the 'big' issue is that for the marriage to be considered 'viable', they must produce an heir. Which means that one has to change gender for the duration of a pregnancy.

in any case I think this explores the issues of transgender characters and gay parents better than that new baldurs gate shit.

Maybe if they're particularly loving, the other parent decides to be the child bearer next time.
>>
>>46506921
Could even be worked explore the issues of surrogate parents
>>
>>46506921
Seems like a decent way to do it, if it's handled well. Good luck wiht the group. Not super contrived; in a setting where sex change magic is a thing, it makes sense that this might happen.
>>
>>46506835
Basically the AntiPaladin equivalent to the Divine Defender archetype.
>>
>>46506921
Why would this situation persist to the point where the boys would be conscious of the change, though? It's not like it takes years to determine a baby's gender: shouldn't the parents just shrug and dose up one half of the arranged marriage a few weeks after birth?

Obviously, they ask the local wizard to make a simulacrum shota of one of the two elves, and THEN slap a Girdle of Gender Reversal on it.
Because men's hips cannot fit babby, so you use an expendable clone to save both parents.

You'd need constant damage buffs from your spells, and you'd only ever get loading down to a move which kinda cripples long-term plans. Maybe get a familiar to do the loading for you?

Cixyron's favored animal is an ant; clockwork ant crawling up and down the barrel of the gun would be creepycute.
>>
>>46507045
Shota means "little boy" and is used exclusively by pedophiles. You are advocating changing a boy child's gender, fucking it, and then forcing it to give birth.

Riven Hourglass's "God of the Hourglass Stance" lets you have an extra standard action per round, but that's way too late-level to be viable. Shattered Mirror's "Reflected Blade Style" boost lets you use a single maneuver against two targets, but I'm not sure if that's what you're going for.

If you find anything better please speak up; I'm playing a Mystic with the same conundrum.

Yeah, take the Victorious Recovery feat. Blast one enemy to mega-death to instantly be granted all of your maneuvers, once per encounter. It only works once, but with my PoW party playing rocket tag, it's all that I've needed. Good luck, senpai.

Best way to deal with musket reload is a pair or two of these: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic-items/wondrous-items/wondrous-items/r-z/shoes-haunted

1d4 unseen servants = 1d4 free reloads per turn if using alchemical cartridges, and they repeat their actions endlessly until you tell them to stop. Only downside is they're slow and you'll outrun them if you move more than 15 feet per round.

Medic anon from two threads back reporting in! Has anyone gotten to play a Medic in their games, yet? I've built one and am getting ready to play it in my own group's game, but I'm getting awfully tempted to go from unarchetyped to Angel of Mercy.

You only lose BB (wasn't using it anyway), two Medic's expertises, and the ability to have 4 Medic's expertises on a single triage, but in return you get a lot of cool stuff like free wings for class level minutes/day, some resists, constant Protection from Evil aura, and an extra source of temp HP.

If it's possible to change gender after being born, I don't think it would be that hjard to determine a fetus' gender before birth.

Or they could just adopt or decare one of their female cousins the hair.

Hell, marry the male child to an busty Elven Ara-Ara matron instead, it's just as legit as warping your child's body for political benefits.

That always just makes people avoid it rather than play it, similarly to how people want to make casting harder to do by enforcing the material components for many of the spells. Yes let's waste the session looking for rodent semen and make the campaign even more about the caster.

Your better either removing crafting and just periodically passing loot out or not bothering, honestly it's a flaw in the system but it has no easy fix.

I'm only level two so far, but you want to get your enemies cursed asap, either through Dark Armiger's Mark or maneuvers. Mostly because the maneuvers that do extra damage when the enemy is cursed are p. nice.

Since you can grapple stuff as part of your strikes (woo for grab!) you want to try and take advantage of the fact that you can lock down a solo enemy by grabbing him on your turn, holding him through his, then letting go at the beginning of your turn (a free action) and then do it over again.

To be fair, my DM made it so I don't get to use grab against same-sized enemies until level 6, but that's not really a big deal since I just wanted to whack stuff with CR and EG manuevers while having big scary monster arms.

I imagine the Elves, of all the classic races, would be against arranged marriages, but you never know. Elven culture can go either way depending on the setting. I would have no problem accepting that knowing how the Elves operate in Golarion.

The cousins thing should still be fine. Plenty of childless people declare their brother or sisters child to be their heir to keep power within the family. It's a legal distinction, again, depending on the culture of the Elves.

Still, I doubt anyone would be okay with going along with the plan. Unless both of them end up gay or one of them is cool with being a women the rest of their life and the other is okay with that, you're still pretty much stomping all over their individuality.

Use the automatic bonus progression rules from Pathfinder Unchained to get rid of +X items. Just having only items that do stuff instead of give numbers should go a long way by itself.

To go further than that, make individual items fewer, but give them multiple properties and names/histories. For example, you could have a cloak of flying that also acts as a bag of holding and lets you pull out conjured keen swords shaped like feathers, and count it as the same wealth value as each of those properties individually.

Elves do arranged marriages even in faerun, where they're the most CG that CG can be. But it tends to be very loosely arranged. It usually follows a fairly standard format of "We've been good friends for a while, and it would be to our political benefit to consolidate power, maybe we could introduce our kids to each other and suggest that they marry, if they're okay with it it goes forward"

The kids both being heirs are raised with the idea that it would be beneficial for their families to marry, and both sets of parents are kind of hoping to pop out another female baby, but it just doesn't happen (infertility or bad luck). So the two heirs decide "Fuck it, this marriage is imporant, we're gunna go through with it anyways!". Neither really minds the gay/bi-sexual thing, but the whole 'producing an heir' causes issues.

I mean it would work just fine with dwarves too - in fact probably better due to the lawful traditions, but then we'd have to deal with the complexities of dwarven clans, and I think that alliances by marriage would occur more often in the inherently 'chaotic' elven societies.

Paizo likes legolas
Paizo especially likes when legolas is a transgendered transracial elf midway between becoming a man and becoming a woman and becoming an elf and becoming a human yes all four at once he's quadratrans and heading in all those directions at a time.

What's less acceptable is mechanical assistance. Let's COMPLETELY IGNORE for a moment the fact that the crossbow is just a sideways short bow with a trigger and something to hold the bolt so you don't have to use your own arm strength all the time, and that it would not be slower if one could draw it by hand because they have strength 25 instead of 12, or that the guy with strength 25 would probably have something with the bowstring itself on there made of adamantine so it doesn't snap when he winches the fucking thing to like five thousand pounds of draw.

No, because there's a trigger it's impossible for you to use your strength therefore it must be weaker than a bow, but also it's a simpler weapon to learn to aim thanks to improvements therefore it must also be weaker, and realism is less important than game balance so if it was properly strong it would break things so we keep it weaker a third time, but it wouldn't be realistic which is ultra important if it weren't horribly slow to load and fire so it's slow.

And then, then someone built a gun. Which you might think is reasonable, given there's full-plate in the setting, thus obviously there should've been guns for a few centuries already anyways. But a gun is even LESS A BOW. It is therefore unacceptable and thus broken. Therefore it has to be more expensive than a magical weapon but since its not a bow AND not magical it has to be less good than both. Not bows suck and you should feel bad for even being interested in them, so we make them explode as often as possible and added this item as a pretend-help so you waste even more money blowing yourself up slightly less often with your trap option.

And finally there's the tech guide...

Golden lion is neat because it grants movement or attacks to "allies" on certain maneuvers and boosts, a mount can be considered an ally, and even though you're considered to share the same space (for simplicity) it would be adjacent for purposes of maneuvers.

Not him, but Inquisitor is easily the most fun Paizo class I've ever played.

People talk about the Alchemist like that, but it's always been the Inquisitor for me. It can do pretty much everything, but not with the kind of proficiency that makes others look bad. He's a huge team player, gets Teamwork feats that he can actually use!, has a fun spell list, and generally is just good.

Whoever wrote them apparently broke the mold, because most 6th level casters since Alch/Inq have felt really meh (save the Magus, I guess).

I know you're being sarcastic, but some people actually think it is. That said, those people (or at least this one of those people) are still disgruntled because crossbows and guns fall far short of being balanced with regular bows.

I'm the sort of guy who would just let a player refluff a longbow as a crossbow if he wanted a crossbow just because he likes the mental image.

Yes, these are the unfortunate facts I attempted to allude to.

You'd think between the gnomish clockwork autoloaders and the zol-orichalconium robot megaspiders, SOMEONE SOMEWHERE would be allowed to craft an automatic crossbow that isn't LITERALLY WORSE IN EVERY SINGLE WAY than the ones in the 'simple' category.

Amber Scott, the one who wrote Wrath of the Righteous, got her hands all over the upcoming Baldur's Gate expansion. She shoehorned in a token trans character whose first conversation amounts to "HELLO! I'M TRANS! NOTICE HOW TRANS I AM!", and you're not allowed to react to her in any way that could be construed negatively in any light.

Also, they gave Mingsc a throwaway "ACTUALLY IT'S ABOUT ETHICS IN ADVENTURING!" jab at gamergate, because, you know, memes are a great substitute for real writing.

I thought it was funny, that wasn't my problem with it. My problem with it is that game writing, unless you're intentionally capturing a vignette of the era, should feel timeless. If you're going to make references, they need to be of things that people are still going to GET, and either feel current, or classic in five, ten years, not that feel outdated in a month. That's a reference half the audience won't get NOW. Imagine if Witcher had lines about LOLCats, or OVER 9000.

You know, I heard an interesting take on it raised by someone else. It's perfectly reasonable to be annoyed by shit writing or other parts of a game, and it's reasonable to tell the game maker you think they fucked up too, but you should never tell the game maker "no, this is so unacceptable you have to take the game back and make it different" because in the end, THEY are the ones making the game and it's not right for you to dictate what they put in it, even if you dislike the direction they choose to take things.

Consider the TrASSer scenario where people were claiming it was censorship to remove the butt. It's the same thing, the public outcry is causing the developers to change the product, it's just on a different side this time. If the product is being forced to change, that's generally speaking not a good thing.

I'm personally with the other anons who are saying it should have stayed, because then when you don't buy the game you can say "it's because of this" and in the next rendition they can either learn from their mistakes or decide it was an alright loss and continue onwards. Plus then it stands as a permanent reminder that you don't write shit characters for the sake of diversity or you lose sales.

>The finest recent example of censorship would be that student that was accused of violating "safe space" rules for having raised her hand; and again later due to nodding.

How is that supposed to trigger someone?

Am I like misunderstanding the definition of trigger? Does trigger mean "anything that induces a reaction in the person?" Is even the tiniest bit of stress a trigger and thus no bueno?

Are... Are these people okay? Do they need professional help? Like let's run this through; woman sees woman raising her hand, this implies the woman is "smart" and knows the answer to a question posed by the professor. Since she knows the answer and Woman #1 does not know, this makes Woman #1 feel deficient, like she was unable to answer the question and Woman #2 could. Furthermore, it implies there's the need for Woman #1 to open her brain and actually *think* about the questions posed.

Is this why raising your hand can trigger someone? Because they can't deal with people being smarter than them or people having intuition?
>>
>>46509558

>>
>>46509597
>I think it would have been funnier just to change one of the male character's victory poses to something similar to balance it out.

Some of the other male characters *had* an identical pose.

The original poster who complained about the pose was trying to mask their disgust by saying it didn't "fit Tracer's personality, think of the children!" By saying this, they have ground to stand on in their bitching.

So Blizzard removed the pose and made it show off even *more* ass while being cute and whimsical, which fits Tracer's personality. Now the whiner doesn't have a leg to stand on.

Why was the man shocked? He accused Trump of being just like Hitler on camera and, rather than agree with him, the guy holding the camera asked WHY Trump was just like Hitler. Rather than express any sort of points, the white guy just started freaking out and exclaiming how the camera guy couldn't possibly imagine Trump is like Hitler, or "wow, really?"

These people don't think, they never grew up, it's a generation of coddled children (as you said) who went into the pampered womb of College and, after getting their diploma, was shocked awake by the reality of life after college and yearned nothing more than to return to the collegiate womb.

Rather than allowing a chance at bright futures or the like, it delays the inevitable guillotine bloodbath of all civilizations by raising everyone as dumb as possible, coddling them with a feeling that they're already a winner. It can't get better than this, not because we're holding you down, but because what could ever be better than THIS GOLD STAR? That's right hmm? you DO get a gold star!

Yes you do!
YESSSS YOU DOO!

For this to work, we need everyone rendered incapable of voicing any form of reason or dissenting opinion. We do this by ensuring everyone's skin is so thin they'll have extreme reactions to the very slightest thing.

When this is due to someone using their head, the dumbdumbs will do the work for you, thus avoiding any image of tyranny.

Have the proles all keep themselves in line, I've got another yacht to catch.

I'm scared of bears because I'm a level 1 commoner and could get my limbs removed by one pretty easily. Same goes for Lions, Tigers, Gorillas, Crocodiles, Elephants, Hippos, Seals, Wolves, Moose (Mooses?), and big enough swarms of Bees, Wasps, Hornets, and Mosquitos.

Fuck nature.
>>
>>46509751
Actually, I understand bears. Generally, they're pretty calm, even though they could open my chest a cardboard box. They're not too bad for the most part, but they can get defensive around their cubs.

And if you ever find one of those furry lumps of slag regularly strolling into town to eat out of the dumpsters, the only move you've got left is to put a hole through its head.

You know what the best part about it is? This culture of coddling and "go with the flow" is creating an entire generation of sheep, people with no intuition and ability to really think for themselves. This may not sound great until you realize not everyone will be raised to become a sheep, oh no, there will be wolves, the go-getters and assertive types that don't take no for an answer.

And when everyone is a sheep, you're going to get a *lot* of very fat wolves.
>>
>>46509842
I mean if you want to go with the Bear analogy, you could say you (as the SJW) are scared of the bear because of it's greater strength (reasoning/logic/what have you) and that the only way to get it to go away is to scream and shout loud enough that it fucks off.

Which breaks down if you're dealing with a grizzly, but you get my meaning.
>>
Speaking of wolves and sheep, anyone here play a hunter? They any good?

For what it's worth, not all the Progressives out there plug these dumbass ideas. Although, I guess I've never seen a Conservatist push an agenda like that, but I was never really surrounded by them during most of my life. Not outspoken ones, at least.
>>
>>46509862
That's exactly the whole point.
Look at whom is being raised to become sheep.

Now look at those who exert their influence to help make this reality.

You'll notice their children are being raised quite differently!

>But why? What's wrong with holding a dissenting opinion?

Because these people by wholesale into negative utilitarianism; they believe that the world would be a better place if they minimized "suffering" or unhappiness. However because they as individuals tend towards narcissistic behavior, even expressing a dissenting opinion makes them 'suffer' and be 'unhappy'. This makes the world an objectively worse place due to their viewpoint, and thus people shouldn't be allowed to dissent because it makes some people unhappy. These are the people who believe in "Badwrongfun"; incidentally these traits can be seen in a lot of video game villains, particularly final fantasy ones (kefka, sephiroth, seymour) "Wouldn't the world be a better place if suffering just went away; thus if everyone went away no one could suffer".

As opposed to positive utilitarianism, where the world is made a better place by trying to maximize happiness, aka 'different strokes for different folks' / 'people can like different things for different reasons and that is okay'.

Indeed it does. Poor wizard is not proficient with his fists.

The difference, down at the core, stripped of tribalism and bullshit, is this: They believe in equality of outcome. We believe in equality of opportunity. These are fundamentally incompatible ideas and we will never, ever agree.

Get this to heal yourself in downtime if needed. Yes, cleric and all, but frees up spells/channels pretty cheaply. I'd grab the evil domain and the artifice (toil) subdomain.

Other than that, generic shooty stuff. Maybe dip 1 level in Spellslinger Wizard to let you cast spells through your gun.
>>
>>46510132
I mean, not that positive utilitarianism doesn't have its own issues when people try to push it to the same extreme (IE, if the logical conclusion of "minimize suffering" is kill all the people quickly and painlessly, the logical conclusion of "maximize happiness" involves making a lot of kids so there are more people to feel happy). Plus, you get into the issue of how you even measure happiness or whatever other trait you intend to maximize, especially when you're talking about millions of people being affected by a decision.

But, /rant. Just a disgruntled person who use to subscribe to positive utilitarianism until he took a few actual philosophy classes. I still think it's not a bad place to have your heart.
>>
>>46510172
That is a succinct summarization of it.
>>
>>46510172
>equality of outcome
But assuming that the goal is to maximize happiness, how could you feasibly achieve this? Even if you gave everyone the exact same outcome, some people would like it more than others, since humans fundamentally value things differently. An apple might be worth a nickel to me, but two dollars to you.
>>
>>46510310
Since I don't even believe it's possible to achieve, you're talking to the wrong person. Ask them.

Holy shit, that sounds... Awful.

Imagine actually living like this. Imagine waking up every day, angry and disgusted that people aren't just like you, don't agree with you. This is an awful way to live, these people can't be happy and they can't be going to bed thinking their life is going the way they want it to.

Because when it comes down to it, is that not what is wrong with these people? Their lives aren't turning out how they want them to, and rather than blame themselves for squandering a beautiful life full of privilege and *opportunity*, they rage against the system for behaving as it should and make pleas of emotion for equality of *outcome*, that they should not have to get a fit body for men or women to want them, or people should have the same tastes in video-games and movies as they.

Being this good at emotional bitching is not the sign of a healthy mind. I would know, I've been a raging asshole pissed off at myself and fucking miserable for years and, looking back, the greatest thing I was able to do during that period was not express my opinions with logic and reason, but with emotion and feelings.
>>
>>46510224
It takes less of an extreme for negative utilitarianism to be bad than it does for positive utilitarianism.

Though the extremes for either side are obviously bad.

>>46510310
Equality of outcome is the result of negative utilitarianism ("no one should be unhappy") whereas positive is equality of opportunity ("everyone should have the opportunity to be happy").
>>
>>46510310
>how could you feasibly achieve this?

You can't.

This is why Social Justice movements have been running at full power for decades and still haven't found a point to say "we've achieved our goals." They've gone from helping 50% of the population to helping .4% of the population, with just as much viciousness and urge for societal reform as before.

These are the people that think it's unfair that one man should go hungry and another man goes fed when they were both given $20 and pointed towards a restaurant.

When everyone is LITERALLY ME, there shall at long last be peace, consensus, satisfaction.

Then they really need to deal with the beam in their own eye first, since the SocJus types are some of the most unhappy people I've ever had the misfortune of encountering. I don't understand how you can be so rich and privileged and hate yourself that much.

That's a huge part of it, anon. They ARE so rich and privileged, and that makes them feel guilty. So they spend all day trying to "prove" that class privilege don't real, it's really all about the cis straight white able male privilege, a list from which they're probably missing at least one, so they don't have to feel so bad about keeping giant piles of mommy and daddy's money.
>>
>>46510340
Part of it is also that 'feelings' should be protected ("I shouldn't be made to feel uncomfortable"), thus trigger warnings, and the silencing of people who disagree (because it upsets you or makes you uncomfortable).

Positive utilitarianism is "Yes, some things will upset me, some things will be bad, some times bad things happen for no reason, but I should still try to be happy".

They're miserable because their outlook *CANNOT* be accomplished.

Idle bitching on a Mongolian basket-weaving forum is a bit different than waking up feeling like a piece of shit because they "just don't get it."

I wake up pretty as a peach and work on my faults, what I'm doing here is little more than the same kinda bitching you'd give at a water-cooler.

I just got back from a LGS in eastern PA.

There were 6 tables with 5-8 people around them playing 5E.

I couldn't get 3 replies when I tried to run a non-PFS Pathfinder game last year. Tomorrow, I'm going back to the store with a DM screen and a sign that says "Looking For Group" until 3 people walk up.

I have an adventure and some pregens generated. Wish me luck.

Pic unrelated to the campaign, unless that's what the players want.
