Blondes are always either refined or loud assholes in anime, so Yellow there with her armor and obvious battle stance made me think she's the "refined ojou-sama". Her being taller than the protagonist means she's the older sister type (which Ojou-sama implies anyhow) and a key feature of the older sister is being a huge perv. The masochism was a bit tricky to figure out, but I decided on that because to the Japanese pervy+warrior+"refined" = loves to get hit, probably in defense of her allies.

It's not a bad show, all things told. I only got through a couple of episodes before it got sidetracked, but I enjoyed the dynamics between the guy and first girl.
She's got an interesting dynamic, in that she's a thoroughly unsympathetic person who's been put into an amazingly sympathetic position. She certainly doesn't deserve what happened to her, but at the same time, she didn't do herself any favors. I like how she might have totally been lying about the results of his death as well, just to piss him off. She's not even really incapable as a person, either, her skill set is simply designed entirely for office work, and she no longer works in an office.
He's got the interesting subversion of the fact that he's entirely unsuited towards his dream, both in ability and in his approach. Right at the start, he was even given the option of being successful by taking the merchant class, and he threw it away just because it didn't suit a dream he's not even invested in. And all of the successes the show had for him led back to the fact that if he'd just been a merchant, he'd be better off and happier.
That duality is what I enjoy the most, I think. He's clearly not some randomly unskilled scrub, he has capabilities and skills, he just refuses to apply himself towards his strengths because they don't interface with his dream. But at the same time, he has no real conviction in his dream either, so he mostly just ends up coasting and doing nothing, which fits his personality and what backstory we're given of him perfectly.

She was very likely pretty good at her job, and fucked it up because she decided to take a random ass stab at some dude who died an embarrassing death.
My only complaint was that the other two girls didn't have nearly as much depth in characterization. I'm sure there's room to grow and develop them, but the show did a pretty good job of showcasing the two main characters and their dynamics quite handily in a single episode, why are these other two so lacking in depth? Both of their main personality traits just seem to be for cheap jokes, incredibly established cliches that don't really add anything to the character dynamic.
Maybe it gets better later. I left off half way through the episode where the actual hero shows up and gets pissed at him for bringing the girl along.

Not exactly bad characters, per say, and certainly suited to the comedy of the show, their introductions are just lackluster, I guess.
Like, it's "This is them, this is their quirk, this is how their quirk gets played for comedy."
Like, add some contradictions to their character, something that means that every scene that involves them doesn't come straight back to their liking explosions/being a masochist.
Every joke involving them just came back to the MC being the suffering straight man to their weird quirk, instead of the more interesting dynamic he has with the first girl.
Hell, he has a more interesting relationship with the thief/goddess that shows up than he does with either of them.

I think the best example of what I'm talking about is the contrast of interactions between the MC and knight girl versus goddess girl.
In the episodes I watched, every single joke about knight girl was "she's a masochist." I wouldn't say it's overdone, but it's the same joke, every time.
Contrast that with goddess girl blackmailing him with his masturbation habits. It's practically a gender neutral joke(As in, she didn't need to be a girl for the joke to work), but more importantly, it plays into their relationship with each other. I guess I find it so amazing that they take this guy and girl and have them be in such a clearly non-sexual relationship with each other even though they are living together. They bathe together, sleep together, and basically do everything together, and yet not once does it play this for any of the traditional sexual tension/stupid jokes anime seems to thrive on. It's the healthiest male/female relationship I've seen in a comedic anime in fucking forever, and the single biggest reason I can say it's not a harem anime.
The whole purification lake bit covers this so neatly. All we get out of knight girl is a cheap joke about her getting sexually aroused, while goddess girl gets an extended scene that handily reinforces the idea that A. She's a petty scumbag who just wants an easy way out and B. She still pretty much doesn't deserve the shit she gets.

This would be the case in a standard high school setting where it's an anachronistic part of the design, but from just a glance it's easy to tell that the setting is fantasy, so it's not an anarchronistic element.

I don't know where you got this impression. Experience suggests that mellow colours like blue/violet/purple are reserved for kuuderes or danderes. The genki girl characters are typically given bright colours like blonde or some variety of red/pink. They're more likely to have a natural tone like hazel than a form of blue.

They've kind of boxed masochist knight in by giving her a one dimensional personality. You can play with the idea of greed and pettiness in a number of interesting ways because greed and sloppiness apply to all kinds of things. If your theme is masochism your jokes are only ever going to revolve around sex. Characters with that kind of one dimensional theme can be fun one off skits, but as a recurring character it just limits the kind of jokes you can pull to that one theme.
Explosion mage would be in a similar problem, if she didn't have multiple facets to play off. Her main thing is still the explosions of course, but she also gets to be the butt of the joke in different ways, like getting mistaken for a child, having a silly name etc...
In my humble opinion masochist knight would have been more effectively utilized as an occasional guest character, with thief girl filling out the fourth slot and maybe spin more of an interesting character out of her.
