Inverted Map Game General: I have no clue what i'm doing Edition.

Saw one of these a couple of days ago when people made a civ-type game out of it.

Saw that the first 5-6 players had most of the land, leaving everyone else who wanted to play with jack shit.

I tried to balance this shit out by adding some lines so that asshats cant take up a quarter of the map.

Lets see how this plays out.

Some rules (subject to change):

>Everybody starts with up to 6 territories.

>Fill out the "Player card" provided. You can fill out a more complex version, or one you made up yourself, as long as you include all the things included in this one and provide a blank for me to save/others to use.

>You CANNOT expand, make alliances, start trade leagues, start wars, etc. until OP says the game has officially begun.

>You CAN Work a bit on your civ (fill out the playercard more, add fluff, fix up your borders to make them prettier, etc), RP with other civs/players a bit as long as it doesnt impact the game, talk about the game/complain about the game/shitpost before the game starts.

>After you make a your civ, in order to make any action official or RP, you have to add ">Your Civ/Leader".
Example:
>The Empire of Fa/tg/uys
>High Seer OP of the Roleplay Patriachy.

>If you need to leave and you know your coming back within the hour, make sure to Let OP know so that he doesnt let your Civ get eaten alive by other players while you are gone.

>If you need to leave and you know your not coming back, Let OP know so he can make sure your Civ gets eaten alive by other players because otherwise its just unused space filling up the map.

Lets have some fun.

You don't NEED to fill out the dots outlining your coastline, buts its recommended if your in an island chain, or you see a lot of them in an area.

I'm sorry for this meme.

I'm not sorry.

If you are joining the game, and you take a territory bordering on already taken, put little dashes of your color inside of their lines of color.

(I know this doesn't make any sense grammatically, that's why i made an example image to explain further.)

I love this

Also if you have some room, feel free to name your landmass (in a visible color) or put down named cities.

This would make actions like invading or setting up port towns much easier because people can name places rather than saying shit like "that ugly parrot looking landmass."

"that ugly parrot looking landmass" is the gulf of mexico, shits ugly as fuck, senpai.

I have an idea for an update to the rules.

How about we add different races to the mix, and give the civilization bonuses based on what races make up their population?

I personally was thinking something along the lines of a point system where you have say 5 "population" points to distribute among any number of choices, giving you "racial bonuses" based on how many you distribute where.

If anybody else is down for it, i would love some idea to get me started until we have enough players for me to start the game.

Trying to describe Mermaid Govmn't is hard. I changed the classification like, 4 times without changing how I was imagining it.

Like seriously. A quick rundown is that the tribes do their own thing, but regularly have representatives meet to make decisions regarding how to interact with outsiders and deal with other emergencies, enough so that they've got the basics of a centralized government... while still having one tribesman say "I'm of The Kelpie" or "I'm of The Siren" as opposed to "I'm a Marianan"

The Line Tool and the Pencil. The Pencil is important too.

GIMP should work... I can't speak for familiarity with it, but it looks like it has the stuff. I continue to recommend the pencil tool for sharp clean lines, alongside being zoomed the heck in.

I'm using the line for dashes, but otherwise I'd be penciling in the borders.

Expeditions to the untamed waters of the Northern Ocean reveal information on the cannibalistic natives that dwell on the multitudes of volcanic islands that cover the cold, temperate region. Orcs by race though far more bestial than their mainland kin, they are heavily dependent on the seas around them for their living, with much of their diet coming from shellfish, whales, and various schools of fish that team in the rich cold waters. Their islands are relatively poor in terms of metal, and most of the tribal warriors instead garb themselves in the hides of the various monstrous beasts that share the storm-wracked islands with them.

An clannish people, their religion is a divisive brand of animism that has often pitted island against island in an attempt to prove whose patron spirit is stronger and fiercer. It is rare than a warchief can unite the scattered tribes, though such a force would likely still be volatile and fragile -- tearing itself apart the moment the leader died. Travelers whose boats wreck against the rocky shores are commonly used as sacrifices, gifts from the sea to their island's patron spirit.

Most treasured are those of the Shadow Palace to the east, whose potent dark magic saw them worshipped as godlings, spirits wearing the same flesh as the orcs. As such, the worship the orcs give the Shadow Palace is a double-edged sword. Vaulted and exulted as divine figures, their flesh is said to grant magical powers and their blood is the most precious gift a tribe can offer to their patron.

>my claim
>>
>>46466493
We won't intention raid you for slaves, but those who visit the islands would be at risk of both worship and sacrifice. Still, you have storm-wracked islands of these savage fuckers to dissaude any from attacking you from the sea, as well being quite content to work beside you.

And now, gone for an hour or so. Dinner time.

Here's a guide on how to cure most illnesses and heal wounds. We will also give you a batch of our medicine wine. It was created by fermenting, purifying and blessing our special vine of grapes.
>>46467871
We are here.
>>
>>46467871
Hmm... did low population contribute to a colonization failure I'm guessing?
>>
>>46467921
Thank you, and here's your poison for those pesky rats, we have been rat free for a long time thanks to our formula. Safe journeys.
Gtg for a bit.
>>
>>46467922
Yeah, curious about that as well. Does the number not directly give you the number of territories colonized? Shadow Palace ended up with a 5 and looks to have gotten 3, and I seem to have rolled a 3 and gotten 2, excluding the half-control I accidentally scribbled on the southern Great Islands at start.

You rolled a 3, would you like to spill into nearby territories or would you rather just have that one territory and waste a decent roll?

>We're sheep centaurs, not horses.

At first Jenkins was disappointed to find that his love was Welsh, but he learned to love her and her cushy fur as he also discovered the fact that because she wasn't a centaur, he didnt have to magically alter his cock to make it more equine just to please her.

>>46468367

Take your family which you are very dedicated to and head south, hugging the coast of the African Ocean, and diving into that Island chain if able. There's gotta be something nifty in those deeps, and if we want to claim and or tame it, we need a widespread influence with a lot of control points there!

I have put the entire faith of your people in you!

Also, the aggreement was ratified a while ago. Now I'm for reals gone.

After landing at one of your new Colonies, you encounter some large Yeti-like creatures speaking a guttural and utterly foreign language.

Due to your low Culture score, you don't even bother tying to interpret what they are trying to say, and instead attack them.

Due to you supream Military score, you win the coming conflicts and enthrall them as laborers and oar-slaves, vastly expanding your already great naval capabilities.

(Int'rnet wast down f'r two hours: most s'rry!)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrwD8WU5dSU

Beyond the gates of Castle City, most important officials were discussing the matters at hand. Things appeared to be relatively peaceful in the lands of Medievavia; the peasants were plowing the fields, the merchants and traders had come, and the King's loyal knights were sparring. Indeed, one could say it was an ideal day in the rural land of castles and knights and carrots, if not for the sudden realization brought about by a vague armoured official that was likely some kind of general.

"Mine own l'rd, our knights...they lacketh h'rses! Those gents doth not appeareth on our listeth of resources!"

The King of Medievavia gasped. "How can this be so? How can our knights have no steed to ride!?"

Verily, the general? replied. "An evil wizard mosteth foul hast curs'd our lasteth stock of h'rses and oth'r lifestock to kicketh the bucket of bodily malfunctions with his dying breath aft'r our lasteth champion defeat'd that gent a century ago. T' appears yond we nev'r madeth any attempts to breaketh the beshrew...'r replaceth those folk, f'r thy matt'r."

The King, stroking his grey beard and dramatic sitting up from his throne called outward. "Then it is so! The quest of our kingdom shall be to have a noble night go! That he might find a new stock of horses to get on with the show! And if he hath had the time, perhaps break my own curse that forces me to speak in rhyme!"

>And so, the Quest for Horses begins: Medievavia is sending knight errants across the realm in order to secure a location with horses! Expansion efforts are being concentrated towards possible regions containing the mighty steeds.

>>46475188
>Military 10

The Great Herd is a society where raw strength and martial prowess is valued above all else. The Great Ox demands that war continues unending until He returns, and so it shall.

>Population 10

The Great Herd advancing into new tiles is not representative of an expanding force from a capital claiming new territory and making it their home; rather, it is the front of the herd making new ground. Every tile behind them is in constant flux, as the steady flow of following clans make haste to follow the trail of the vanguard, in hopes of one day taking the esteemed title of Front Clan, should their predecessors fall.

>Resources 10

The Great Herd are savants at scrounging up whatever they can on their divine march, whether that be water and fish from a nearby lake, natural poisons harvested from the many overgrown, brightly colored insect species they've adopted and cultivated through their travels, or looted armor and weapons after a particularly bloody battle.

>Technology 3

There is no time for advancement when weaker peoples have wasted time creating such elaborate gadgets, only to be crushed underhoof by the chosen of The Ox. The technology used by The Great Herd is ramshackle, constantly falling apart thanks to misuse and lack of proper care, and so they must keep looting new lands, so as to not leave themselves without arms.
>>
>>46475445
>Culture 1

The Great Herd has what can just barely be called a government. In short, the strongest lead from the front, constantly fighting to earn favor with both their patron deity and the mortal warchiefs around them.

Clans, massive social units made up of family members and friends, are the primary aspect of Herd society, as this is where young bulls first compete among their fellows to prove themselves superior. These contests, at their most casual, include foraging, minor hunting, poison brewing, and duels to first blood; at their most extreme, they become about being the first to successfully hunt or tame the greatest of beasts that inhabit the latest land the Clan is passing through, and even duels to the death. Taboo methods of discouraging competitors include assassination, framing, blackmail, and threats of violence against children and women close to the bull, though these still occur behind closed tentflaps with uncomfortable regularity.

The strongest bull of a clan is called a Lesser Warchief, and they almost always come to the position by killing their predecessor. They have the final say on clan issues, are responsible for handling diplomacy with the rest of the Great Herd, and have first dibs on mating rights, food, drink, and relaxation (unless they serve under a Greater Warchief, of course,) through either sheer size and strength, force of personality, cunning, or some combination of the three.
>>
>>46475612
Infighting between Clans is common, and even encouraged, as this is the only way that Greater Warchiefs come to be. Greater Warchiefs command multiple Lesser Warchiefs and clans, forming a political entity called a Great Clan, usually as a result of usurping an already existing title, or, less commonly, thanks to an ambitious Lesser Warchief carving out a new one out of neighboring Clans from scratch. They outrank the Lesser Warchiefs of the clans they've absorbed in all aspects, can call on their military force at any time and for any reason, and enforce this claim violently, if a Lesser Warchief within the Great Clan refuses to recognize their supremacy.

Herds are made up of Great Clans and behave in much the same way, led by one donning the title of Great Bull. The clans under a Great Bull can take hundreds of years to move through the picked over remains of a single realm, foraging and using up whatever precious few resources are left, proving themselves against one another, and preying on any leftover natives the whole while.
>>
>>46475790
You've probably figured out what comes next, and that is The Great Herd itself, the sum of the minotaur people. It is led by the High Bull, the greatest of them all, always ruling from the front by necessity, as to ascend to the title he must first either defeat the current High Bull at the front of the march or prove he is worthy of filling a power vacuum. Every minotaur alive, regardless of rank or accomplishment, answers to him and him alone, or faces reprisal in grinding great wars that can set the course of The Great Herd back for generations -- besides those at the very back ranks of the line; weedy, sickly, inbred abominations, whose very existences go against all that is good and right in the rest of Great Herd's view of the world, and who have developed religious and cultural habits that are viewed as a disturbing, borderline demonic parody of those held by their brothers and sisters. Regardless, they are left to suffer through the vast wastelands the Great Herd leaves behind them, with barely a bush of berries in sight, as punishment for the eternal crimes their ancestors committed many hundreds of years ago, even before the declaration of the Divine March.

It is said that the High Bull is in direct communion with the Great Ox himself, receiving His will through dreams, whispers, and divine communion that leaves them convulsing violently and foaming at the mouth (though it should be noted that that last bit was first encountered during a great plague that hit the entirety of the Great Herd many lifetimes ago, and has not been recorded since). This means that the High Bull serves both as a supreme military leader and a fatherly spiritual guide, leading the Great Herd on its journey with only his blade, his instincts, and the subtle guidance of his lord leading the way, leaving a trail of destroyed civilizations behind him for his flock to follow.
>>
>>46473722
Well, going to leave for around 6 hours or so.
>>
>>46475955
Going back to clans themselves, each one has a complex series of cultural and spiritual beliefs based on its own history, the areas it's encountered, and what states they were in by the time they got there and by the time they left, meaning that no two are completely the same. These cultural schisms only contribute to the infighting for a family's goal of eventually being able to say that it can trace a High Bull to its name. Each clan also has a private retinue of slaves, dedicated to taking care of mundane tasks not suited for even the chores of Minotaur children. These vary in race, capability, and population size, with Clans further in the front generally having a larger amount of slaves from fresher conquests (along with everything else in general, more often than not), while those in the back have only cowering refugees from already thoroughly looted lands to pick over.

>Religion 1

For all their beliefs on the nature of the soul, spirits, and the world around them that go on in Clans, outsiders never see this aspect. By the standards of even history's most war oriented, ancient pagans, none besides the Mongols themselves can even begin to compare to the sheer state of devotion to war and the destruction of all that are not them that the minotaur species has devoted itself to. There is no word for peace in their language, and thus there can be no time to develop religious practices that are not directly ingrained with the art of the kill.
>>
>>46476204
The Great Ox was the greatest bull who ever lived, and when he died, he ascended to godhood in order to tell his people where to go to find both new resources, to compensate for their hyperactive fertility and the ensuing population, and a damn good fight, until he can return at the end of the journey and lead those who have proven worthy to the Promised Pasture. It's better to serve Him and His dream of a strong, vast Minotaur race by striking down all those in your way than wasting time, effort, and precious resources on decadent cathedrals, so-called "holy books" that are only good as kindling and toilet paper, and sermons beyond roaring as one as you charge at your enemy. Anything else is the way of weaker peoples who, in the end, are so distracted they can not even defend any of these so called "achievements" of civilization.

>Magic 0

Minotaur mages do not exist, it is not in their blood. Even the High Bull can only receive vague suggestions from his patron and nothing more, as he can not even reply to his Lord or ask for clarification; they must still rule solely by the merit of their own strength, their own charisma, and their own wits. This had led magic users to become both hated and feared by The Great Herd, as magic is simultaneously their greatest weakness and those wielding it do not even possess it by their own virtue, as they must call upon spirits and forces beyond mortal understanding to do their dirty work. Such a thing is viewed by the bulls as the greatest act of mortal arrogance possible, worse than even kinslaying and the butchery of women and children, as at least those only taint the mortal plain! Because of this, they prioritize the destruction of magic users wherever they dwell, their victims experiencing suffering unheard of in any other situation involving such a brutish race.

Religion (6)
The Clans belief that all things, creatures, and people have a spark of the divine within them, the sum of all things in existence is God to them.

Culture (3) and The Clan's cultures revolve around their faith each Clan is founded by an Individual that proved to have an exceptionaly bright spark in some way. A great Achievement unlike the Clan's founder's like an unlikely military victory a great Invention or establishing a lucrative traderoute, sometimes great skill can be enough.
When a Clan Lord dies one of his descendants, usually the one with the brightest Spark takes control of the clan.
Who takes controll of a Clan or is allowed to found a new Clan is decided by a Council of Clan Lords and the Executor appointed by the decesed. The decision of a Council of Clanlords can be overruled by any larger Council of Clanlords.
There is a Great Council of all Clanlords every three Years.
Clan Lords can apoint Executors to act in a certain function in their name.

Military (6)
A fleet of strong ships and men hardened by adverse living conditions.

Resources (5)
Are gathered Inland mostly to create better ships.

Population (3)
Most people don't want to procreate with someone who has a dim spark.

Technology (10)
Shareing a Great Invention is one of the surest ways to become Clanlord.

Magic (2)
Divination helps finding Fish, not dieing in storms, and if you're good you may point out a divine Spark (though some foreigners just call them auras, those silly heathens)

Culture (6)
The Hyracian people needed the assurance of a close community during its initial struggles to survive, making the bonding between them very important, it's still very important since they are few in number.

Military (10)
In the old Hyracian community everyone was in danger, be it for beasts, weather or raiders. Being a warrior always was seen as a lifelong job, as the people are few, and there can't be any dead weight.
Yet its people are very peaceful.

Resources(4)
Fish, a few crops and wood. Everyone of them was just above the minimum required to keep the people happy and fully functioning, there is always barely any surplus, as nothing is wasted.

Population (3)
Despite being very easily capable of reproduction, Hyracian people prefer to give birth to at maximum 3 children, keeping the population in a costant albeit extremely slow increase.
>>
>>46479680
Tecnology (6)
The Hyracian homeland made life very hard for the Hyracian people, and as it is said ''necessity is the mother of invention'', so the Hyracian started developing tecnology first to make thier home more habitable and without many problems. Then they looked beyond the dirt and the coasts and saw the sea.
They debelled any treath in their homeland also by developing superior weaponry to ensure peace trough superior firepower.

Magic (0)
''Talk about that may-jik another time, you idiot, and I'll ram your face with my ship''
Hyracians neither know nor are interested in magic, some may study it as a hobbie, but nothing more.

Religion (5)
The center of the Hyracian community is the Hyagon, translatable in ''Emperor''. The Imperial House have always generated rightful and just leaders, that had guided to Hyracian people to safety uncountable time, thus making the people love them and rever them as a deity, which further strengthens the bond between the people of the Empire.

In a few words: Hyracians are few, but everyone is both a citizien and a soldier. If they fully deploy to war, and it's waged on the sea, gods help you, for only the Apocalypse itself could defeat them.

Somehow the Great Herd got missing from the Map. that's 50% of all inland Empires people! Get your cartography straight!
>>
>>46483169
Oh, well, apparently the map that has the Council of Clans doesn't have the Herd in it.
I'll be waiting for the OP to rectify this fact, and, well, you should have chosen a color that doesn't camo with the sand in the first place.
I bet the OP didn't put the Herd even it the revamped territory map because he didn't notice its colour.

Tyrus sovereignity chart.png

Culture (3)
The people from the Sovereignity are very warlike, and only after the great warrior Tyrus they united under a single banner. Thier culture is the one of war, pillaging and barely cultivating the land.

Military (7)
A people that lived for centuries in civil war surely are fierce and skilled warriors.

Resources (7)
Only because the land they inhabit is really naturally resourceful they were able to fight for so much time.

Population (7)
Strong people generate strong children, even stronger if thier main purpouse is fighting, and more people mean more warriors to fight on one's side.

Technology (3)
War instead of guiding them to invent more ingenious things to kill, they rested upon their previous yet deadly weapons.

Magic-religion (3)(both)

Magic and faith are strongly connected in these lands, in fact the most pious and the strongest warrior priests of the Soveregnity are able to cast various type of magical attacks, strongly connected to the natural element of each deity of the Tyrusian pantheon.

>>46484464
Of course, how could I forget?

The union of Free Cities that compose the Argent League is a product of necessity. With war and competition between one another becoming yet less and less profitable, an accord was struck. Under a common banner, the cities would turn their attention outwards, in partnership and trade, and each in turn would provide for the common defense.

Every ten years, the council of merchants of each of the cities nominates a delegate to elect a Prince-Mayor of the Argent League, through varying convoluted methods for each of them.

Through trade, culture thrives, and the massive wealth can afford to pay for numerous mercenary companies and hire fleets to exert influence abroad.

Aesorith is Lich God, ruler of all Soma. He is undead and has ruled as Caliph since the beginning. Some say he was born a Human, other say he is Half Orc. No one really knows his race anymore his flesh has decayed to the point where any distinguishing features are all but gone.

In Soma Aesorith leads with an iron fist, His word is literally law. The humans of Soma worship Aesorith as a god. They fear for their lives every day, for every day Aesorith's troops come and take any blasphemous person, kill them, and then raise them as an undead thrall.

Life in Soma however isn't all bad. If you are sure to be devout to Aesorith and his commandments known as the Necrocomicon you can live a very successful life in Soma. For example if you are devout and skilled in magic you have a chance to become one of the mayors of the cities of Soma and then governor of one of the 4 major cities. There is the Capital, The Mausoluem where Caliph Aesorith lives, Fiarith, Majharith, Liasism, and Pulotis. Every person in Soma is taught to love Aesorith and to practice Necromancy. They have a saying here "All that is Dead is Our Domain"

If you are not particularly skilled in magic you do not become anything, you work your land that you claim. There is no culture in Soma, you either become skilled in necromancy and become a mayor or governor or get pulled to lead Aesorith's armies. Or you become nothing the Kalets, the living that has not yet died. To be of living in Soma is to be worse than scum. You do not get treated badly, its just... you get treated as if you do not exist. When a relative of a Kalet dies their body is immediately taken by the most nearby necromancer, to serve for them. You do not get to mourn for mourning is against the law of Aesorith. Why mourn what is alive again.
