Why do Cyberpunk settings have rain a lot?

Is it just because Blade Runner did it, and they want to be like Blade Runner? Because Cyberpunk cities must have some great pumping and drainage systems so they don't get massive floods.

I need gothic futuristic cities for writing up my homebrew Chapter. Something like pic related, but with more sci fi elements thrown in such as streams of aircraft. It's a feudal Hive World that's been built up over the course of ten thousand years with the people's culture never shedding their old trappings.

Those buildings are big enough to have their own subway stops. I've seen that kind before, where you can go straight from the subway into the lobby, then to the elevator. It's not too bad when they have different elevators for different sections of floor (i.e. some lobby elevators go up to floors 2-10, some go to 11-20, some 21-30, etc etc).

well, Hong Kong is pretty much closer to cyberpunk now than almost any other city, so you'd get a lot of material there too. Helps that Shadowrun has a game set in there as well
