What is the best YouTube resource for each of the following:

1. Standard Constructed
2. Standard Limited
3. Modern
4. Elder Dragon Highlander
5. Other format that you care about

Aside from Tolarian Community College
>>
hey answer me this--why do people get offend when I toss them my d20 and ask them if they want to roll for first?

guy at the prerelease flatout say "that's a spindown. we dont roll with spindowns" and then got out his chessix. others had similar relactions.

what gives?
>>
>>46446594
She's fucking hot, wow.

>>46447597
People are retarded, it's that simple. For some reason they think spindown are not dice.
>>
>>46447597
For some reason MTG players seem deathly attached to 2d6 as standard rolling. It's like people that always do the card-flicking thing in their hand even when opening boosters.
>>
>>46447684
you sure that's just not just that you want to fug an emo cunt?
>>
>>46446594
1-3: Channelfireball
4. Clonehead or Starcitygames
>>
>>46447597
Spindown's aren't as "balanced" as regular d20's, in that the opposite sides don't add up to 20. This makes it look more random, but it actually fucking isn't.

I'm not sure if they are literally unbalanced as well, but i really doubt it. And besides, if both players are using spindowns, what does it matter?
>>
>>46447597
The reasoning is that because the spin downs follow an order you can at just how you roll it out of your hand and roll into a high or low number

It's completely retarded like the whole pile shuffling isn't real shuffling because someone could memorize the position of every single card in the deck and manipulate it. but regardless it has to be as unpredictable as possible. So for any sort of official purpose you're not supposed to use a spin down
>>
>>46446594
Just stay away from MTG Lion, he sucks at everything and is a fucking furry weeaboo.
Tolarian Community College dude is autistic and the way he talks bothers me.
MTG Degree is MTG Lion tier, slightly less autistic.

Channel Fireball and TheManaSource is what comes to mind at first, but you can probably find other good content creators.
>>
>>46447730
>>46447684
Ok, thanks. Just seemed like I had comitted a major party foul, so I wanted to check. I still don't think I'm going back to that shop for FNM or events--just the wrong playerbase for me.

That one, the biggest in my area, had 90 for prerelease. My preferred shop had around 35, and staff went out of the way to decorate/dress up/get pizza, and all that fun bonus stuff. I regret neglecting them on prerelease night :(
>>
>>46447868
You really like Wedge more than the professor? They're both crazy autistic, but Wedge is just so fucking cringy. All those canned, recited jokes and puns? Bleh.
>>
>>46447868
I agree with TCC but his breakdowns are just so thorough. He gives accurate prices on whether it's worth it to buy duel decks, etc, and he absolutely bashes the shit out of deckboxes and sleeves until they break.

ManaSource is just a faggot
>>
>>46447932
Isn't the Professor nothing but canned jokes?
>>46448033
He sucks at lore though
>>
>>46448302
The Professor is more of a life lesson kinda guy, wedge comes off as a "Watch out dudes this card is gonna WREEEECK standard.
>>
>>46448302
I suck at lore too, i go there to see what sleeves are halal
>>
>>46448427
Also he gets autistic about the commander products and went full pepe when talking about BFZ fatpacks on the command zone. I kind of lost some respect since his message seems to be "Support your lgs until it's cheaper to buy it online then fuck them." at times
>>46448847
that's fair, just bothers me as a lorefag
>>
>>46448884
Understandable, if your a lorefag then thats a big downside of his
>>
>>46449014
also I trolled him on twitter by posting pictures of my rubberbanded casual decks
>>
>>46448033
>>46447932
Wedge's voice doesn't bother me. Professor isn't bad, to be honest, the way he talks just bothers me.
>>
>>46446594
There's no such thing as Standard Limited. Limited means draft or sealed, any set or combination of sets. You don't have to qualify it with anything, just call it Limited.

Anyway, the major sites are usually good for advice on Standard, Modern, and Limited. TCGPlayer, Starcity Games, and Channel Fireball.

For Limited, Marshall Sutcliffe's podcast Limited Resources is a good source of info, as he reviews every set that comes out for limited purposes.

Loading Ready Run also hosted a Pre-Prerelease of Shadows Over Innistrad last Saturday (3/26) where Marshall and other guests had an eight-man tournament showcasing the set in a Sealed format. It's still up on their Twitch if you want to check it out, it's worth watching.

Jimmy Wong hosts the Command Zone podcast, never listened to it myself but I've heard it's a good EDH resource.
>>
>>46447889
Ignore those two guys, the reason people get upset is because d20s are not as random as 2 six sided dice are. You can roll a certain way to get a higher number then your opponent, its pretty much cheating to roll a d20 to see who goes first if you know what your doing.
>>
>>46449359
Command Zone and Commanderin' are two good podcasts for the format.
>>
>>46446594
I don't even play magical regularly but enjoy TCCs content. He seems like a humble amatuer but analytical guy. Funny silly content but he works hard and is professional about his channel. He isn't there to screw with people and you can tell he's sincrere

Some other mtg channels.... Their OK. But abit too strict and serious for me.
>>
>>46446594
Channel fireball TV is pretty good, they usually cover a smattering of topics.
>>
>>46446594
Channel Fireball for the most part

To summaries other mtg content creators:
-TCC has the best reviews on supplementary products, decent deck techs, has the literal worst podcast (those two girls).
-Mana Source overhypes shit a whole ton and has some cringy moments here and there. Can't help but think he's a bit of a shill but that's just me.
-Magic Man Sam is interesting in regards to what he produces, stands out with choosing to do art, skits, songs, etc. Pretty useless in terms of gameplay related stuff.
-MTGDegree is pretty much a worse version of Sam, his art/alternative content is okay, but his gameplay related stuff is dogshit, and is a total dipshit+asshole at times. "Pucatradeisapyrimidschemedesu"
- MTGLion, holy fuck this guy. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he is actually autistic. Annoying as fuck voice, a huge weeb, the list goes on. Avoid at all costs.
>>
>>46447597
I played with a guy who refused to roll a spindown, told me I couldn't track my life total with the spindown, then told me to signal each step of my turns, then asked for a deck check and also shuffled my deck for 1-2 minutes and didn't let me shuffle his deck until he was done. I lost 0-2 and he told me to not be so salty when I told him that he should maybe relax with the rules since it was an unsanctioned 6 man event.

Worst game I've ever played.
>>
>>46446594
Recently I started watching MTGGoldfishes content and I am mostly pleased on their content.
But then again I dont mind watching hours and hours of MTGO.
>>
>>46449479
Only if you're using a spindown. Proper d20s are fine for randomness, every number just has the same probability. If you really want to be autistic about rolling, 3d6 gives a perfect bell curve.
>>
>>46452664
I was at a draft and I had a similar guy. Demanded that I declare every new step. He then played a card I wasn't familier with (Its a draft, sue me) and when I asked politely if I could quickly read it he declined that it would be cheating.

I beat him though. Came 3rd, got a free booster, not a bad day.
>>
>>46452493
Pretty much this.
I can't stress how important it is that you avoid MTG Lion. He never says anything useful, he is wrong 90% of the time when he says something about a certain card or strategy being powerful.

For EDH I used to love Top and Go Productions on Youtube. They had a number of super cheap decks that really helped my group of friends get into commander. Their guides to the precons were also for the most part solid, with the exception of the a few shit lists.

I would check them out, they dont make video's anymore but they have a few gems.
>>
>>46452493
What's wrong with magic the amateuring?
>>
>>46456619
It shocks me that the guy has 20k subs when there are channels that are way way better then him at literally anything. His production quality is >1000 subs tier. Most likely the majority of his subscribers are them being nice to the special needs kid.
>>
>>46456770
RIP top and go, you opened my eyes to Kemba.
>>
>>46456770
Not to be an asshole, but as nice as their techs are, the woman's voice honestly just puts me off, and also has a bit of a GM's girlfriend vibe.
>>
>>46452493
>Can't help but think he's a bit of a shill but that's just me.
He is a huge shill, been sucking tcgplayer's dick non-stop. He's also either really lazy, or a jew, he has a patreon and promises a shitload, but barely actually delivers.

>>46456861
Have you seen one of their podcasts? It's fucking awful. What makes it worse is their fans are the whitest of white knights, and TCC tries way to hard to defend them.
>>
>>46446594
>dat lili

I thought that a Gianna Michaela at first glance. Never have I known such depths of sorrow.
>>
>>46453872
>he declined that it would be cheating
Are you kidding me? How does that make any sense at all
>>
>>46453872
Players are able to look at any cards in revealed zones such as the battlefield, grave, and exile.
>>
>>46452664
>>46453872

You nerds
Any time some goober gets difficult you just turn on passive aggressive normie mode and intimidate the piss out of them
>>
>>46460586
I've listened to all of them so far, they're good for a chuckle.
>>
Speaking of youtube, why are there so little content creators? Even the best ones like TCC are really autistic compared to other genres with the same following.
>>
TCC > ManaSource bigtime.
Both have this neckbeard humor, but TCC actually makes good content while Wedge is a cringe inducing shill

The Magic Show with Evan Erwin. I love his set reviews with Brad Nelson. Of course, those are just for limited, but you can't buy that sort of enthusiasm. Each time a new set comes out, I watch him and get excited.
>>
>>46461449
>tfw your favorite pornstar will never cosplay as your favorite MtG waifu
why live
>>
>>46462361
you mean you don't like watching weirdos open booster boxes?

that's content right?
>>
>>46447684
They're only not dice if you suck at rolling. You gotta shake it around in your hand for varying lengths of time greater than a fucking second to make sure you don't alternate hemispheres of the die predictably. I rolled a character for a game using a spindown once and got something like 18, 4, 16, 7, 18, 2. My biggest mistake was rolling a d20 instead of the superior 4d6 system.
>>
>>46453283
I'm gonna second MTGGoldfish, and I recently found MagicGatheringStrat2 for pauper gameplay. I play on MTGO myself so I prefer channels that use it over paper.
>>
>>46446594
>Tolarian Community College
God, it's absolute shit. I have to put it on 1.5x speed in order to even understand what he's saying, and he's the most stuck-up and opinionated person I've encountered outside of actual academe.
>>
>>46462444
This is the one I tend to watch, good in depth reviews of each set, enthusiastic and good interaction
>>
Are there any podcasts of EDH players that aren't miserably cringey? Or is that just the cross I have to bear for playing a casual format?
>>
>>46447597
I remember watching a YouTube video proving most of them were unbalanced, so in interest of fairness I guess.
>>
>>46463920
The command zone or commanderin
>>
>>46446594

I wonder how much he had to pay to fuck her.
>>
>>46464196
probably not a lot.
>>
>>46446594
Professor plz go
I love your content though
>>
>>46466429
If he actually goes onto /tg/ I would honestly be surprised
Dude doesn't look like a fa/tg/uy
>>
>ctrl+f DesolatorMagic no results

Good on you /tg/.
>>
>>46467507
I'm a 100% casual scrublord, and I can say that even I can tell that Desolator and MTG degree are complete dogshit.
>>
>>46462444
I can agree with this.

It's nice to watch people who love the game.
>>
>>46468863
Desolator has gained traction in my local playgroup and it's awful. His dream of a magic where blue no longer exists and everyone just turns dudes sideways at each other really speaks to the shitters that frequent some stores i go to i guess.
>>
>>46452493
>>46446594

Mtggoldfish has a great budget series going on

and yes, MtTGLion doesn't know what he is talking about
>>
Channel Fireball is where it's at, lots of cool decks being played by a variety of pros.

You also can't beat Andrea Mengucci's beautiful boyish Italian accent and adorable mispronunciation.
>>
>>46467507
>>46470054
My curiosity got the better of me and holy shit.

If MTGLion is the worst in terms of being the biggest autist. Then Desolator takes first place in being the biggest shitter ever, did he only start playing a month ago? Literally, ironically says Cryptolith Rite is super holyfuck OP, comparing it to the likes of Heritage Druid, in fact, better then it. Also says that (fucking modern) Storm is stupid OP deck thats going to be unstoppable thanks to the addition of Meme in the Ice and Vessel of Volatility.
>>
>>46471459
Cryptolith Rite isn't holyfuck OP, but it's nothing to sneeze at.

>>
>>46471459
Now I have a morbid curiosity to look it up, will it cause me to descend into madness or simply some delirium?
I'm so sorry
>>
>>46452664
That's "Big Fish, Small Pond" syndrome. Dude would get crushed at a semi-competitive FNM, let alone anything higher. Best thing to do in that situation is roll with the punches. Call slow play if he keeps taking forever to shuffle, make him call out steps as well, deck check him, etc. Though how did he deck check you in an unsanctioned event?
>>
>>46470054
Him and his kind are the reason why control can never have nice things in modern. Countering spells is too unfun, toxic and feelsbad waah

>>46471967
>completely unaware of earthcraft

I honestly wonder if Desolater is one giant bait, or really is that bad at Magic.
>>
>>46472135
It's like waching LTG if you're into fighting games or DSP if you're into video games at all. He is so incompetent and his opinions so ass backward it's funny sometimes and just frustrating other tines.
