What is Bug World? It is a setting where mammals are almost unheard of and insects rule the world. It is a place of cities built from hollow logs, Termite megolopoli, and dangerous monsters that stalk the lands.

How do you feel about slugs and snails?
do people still have interest in bug art? I've found some stuff i haven't seen on here yet.

Please post if you have some more, I love it.
So what's the social structure of some of the societies we haven't seen? Flies, for example, or Moths.
For Flies I'm imagining a very early form of oligarchy to go with their very early form of industrialization. Once you're big enough in Fly society, you get a vote on important matters. The head of the alchemist's guild, for example.
Or maybe there's a better idea. What do you think?

Okay.

Should Mantis work like this or stand in 4 legs? Aesthetically, I think quadrupeds look better, but if they're bipeds, they can have hands and claws, and not just one or the other, or a weird hybrid.
Why is this not a quest ? I would totally play it if this was the setting for a quest.

Make your own. This is a setting discussion thread, the setting itself is open for use.

Not that anon, but I doodled this a little while back after reading these threads.

Weird thing to miss a letter though
Found this lil guy at work

Adorable
Posting environment art I made.
I'm imagining this is kind of how a major structure might look like with vibrant layers of plaster/lacquer/whatever on the outside since most insects are attracted to bright colours. Half resembling a termite mound with its chambered construction along with intrinsic structure reinforced with bee hexagons. Landing strips for larger flying insects transports near the top too
>>46456756
Oh dang I really like that
>>46456756
That's really great, PR. What kind of structure is it, what's it's function?
>>46456815
Some kind of multi-race city I think
We need more groups. We only have The Golden Antenna in that section of the docs.
Proposing the archeologist group 'The Buried Dome' and their undersea equivalent 'The Deep Helix'.
>>46457222
I see what you did there, Prof Oak
>>46441911
I like sea slugs
>>46455020
I love him
>>46457222
Those are pretty cool sounding. We could also have a warrior's guild equivalent made up of sell swords, but I suck at names.
>>46456854
It looks really good PR. Taller than I imagined, but still neat. How's that comic coming along?
>>46457538
Pincers of Fortune?
Iron Claw?
Khepri's Horns?
The Unbreakable Shell?
>>46457596
Iron Claw sounds neat. I don't want it to be limited to just one race.
Unbreakable Shell or something like that seems to beetle centric
>>46457737
I also thought about something involving stingers, but that's probably for an assassin/thief guild instead.
>>46457809
What was the name? Every setting needs some kind of secret underground guild
>>46457921
I suppose Shadow Stinger would be appropriate.
Though The Fifth Arm sounds nice too.
>>46455020
A different jumper found a while back, also at work
>>46456756
Looking awesome PR.
>>46457222
All hail Lord Helix.
>>46457596
Khepri's Horns could be an elite Beetle fighting force.
>>46458016
>>46455020
Much cute.
>>46457567
Its going very slowly. I'm not well versed in comic book making so the process is more on the fly than intuiative

A Sweat Bee I found
Thought it was a wasp. Very bright metallic green
how are bee colonies doing?
Does this setting have giant monsters?
If so, I have a genus to nominate
It's Phrynosoma time, muthafuckas.
>>46461185
Honey bees are fine. They're actually doing better because of a resurgence of beekeeping. Problem is that the other species of bee are still plummeting.
Like 90% of Bee species don't exist in a Hive structure and live solitary lives and they're really suffering.
Neonicontids (I think how it's spelled) are the pesticide directly responsible for colony collapse disorder and the near extinction of other species. But Bayer and Monsanto have such control over the government that their poison is flooding everywhere. Super carcinogenic too
Threads up
>>46460980
>>46461348
Umm, wrong thread I think.
>>46461309
Yeah, it's complete bullshit.
>>46461309
It's such a shame too. Mason bees are cute as a button. Here's one that hitched a ride on my satchel for a bit
Mass Commercial bee keeping just can't survive if it continues in this way. Luckily for me I buy local, and I'm about to start a hive on my property.

Yes, insect predator creatures like lizards, anteaters, birds or hedgehogs are referred to as Behemoths and are the settings comparable 'dragon' similar end campaign enemy
>The Censer, or Kyun
>Seemingly a weapon with its origin in the lands of the Mantis the Censer, or Kyun as it is known with Mantis Monks, is in its most basic design is a flail without a handle, the weapon is essentially just a rope or chain and a weighted head.
>The weapon originates from Beetle clergy men who were forbade to carry weapons, who then adorned their Incense censers with spikes and greater weight, turning their badge of office into an effective and incognito weapon.
>It has since been recognized as a legitimate tool for defense and many variations of the weapon exist, from rope darts to dual headed Censers known as Meteor Hammers. Some assassins use Censers made of velvet and hide, the weapon become nearly silent but nearly doubling the range of their reach.

>>46462481
Pretty sure we've specifically called those Thorn Dragons
Wild chickens are called Basilisks, I know that
Shrikes are Flying Butchers
We still need small scale enemies. Slaver and Driver Ants were what I put up against MapAnon and a couple others here when we were testing our system.
>>46464917
Don't forget the Gecko Goblins
>>46464982
Gecko gobbos are pretty chill too.
>>46463691
Yo that's hella dope. Like nunchucks but with steel balls
Did we ever make an Imgur for all the OC art PR and folks have made?
bugbump
>>46464917
What about feral spiders and mantis? Those societies are big on self-control, but there's those who never got integrated, and those who openly shun it.
I know we said 'no ferals', but I think those two deserve some consideration. Supression of the inner predator being a big part of their lore, I think the ocassional reminder of what exactly needs to be supressed could be an interesting experience.

Predatory ambush Ticks
Earwigs that hunt like big cats or wolves
Damselflies filling the roles of cliffracers
Presleep bump
