If the second LoW is just a Baneblade chassis, it should be fine. 3000 is the entry level for Apocalypse to begin with.
But that doesn't mean you might not still be a fag.
In the Post imperial knight era, you're fine Esp if one is just a baneblade. It is against the rules though so I would totally say you are bringing it ahead of time.

Any game above 2000 pts is in the apocalypse category. Players should build their lists to counter LoWs and other apocalypse armies.

I have never played, so forgive my naivete here: if you brought two, couldn't OP agree to let another player borrow one for the game in exchange for something else, or agree that they could not be on the table at once with the other only coming on as a reinforcement, or allowing the other guy to bring some of his dead vechicles back from destruction for some ad hoc reason? I don't see why this has to be a problem if everyone wants to play and have fun.

LoW are perfectly allowable by the rules. They are however just considered incredibly unfun to play against in normal games by many, similar to using a "cancerous" deck in a CCG or an overpowered weapon in an arcade shooter.
Yes there are ways to make them less unfun but most players are lazy shits who just want to play muh generic pitched battle
