I am starting to really hate /pfg/. It's odd. At one point I thought the folks here were more reasonable than the fuckers in the paizo forums. Then I realized the folks here are just as trash but in a different way.

I'm no shining example, but god damn.

Skeletons are overused, let's talk about the littler undead. Like isitoqs! Isitoqs are cute!

I never got to play my extreme snowflake of a necromancer who wore the "blinded but +10 to all knowledges" mask and had a dozen isitoqs that she used to see...
>>
>>46420198
Shit, I remember seeing some race or trait or SOMETHING that let you be blinded without suffering any penalties, and now I can't remember what it was!
>>
>>46420198
Isn't that new Mesmer archetype pretty much that? Eyebiter I think.
>>
>>46420234
>race or trait
Close, it's an alternate racial trait, from Blood of Shadows.

>Sure Step (2 RP): Adventurers can spend their whole careers in the alleys and sewers of large cities or the tunnels of the Darklands. Characters with this trait suffer no movement penalties when blinded or moving in darkness.
>Drow and half-elves can take this trait in place of keen senses.

Yeah, but it's really weird because they wasted a ton of pagespace listing custom flying-eyeball stats when they could've just said "isitoq but not undead".
>>
>>46420335
It's from Fire Emblem Awakening; the Fighter character is using Dual Guard to take the hit for the Mage, and while Dual Guarding the ally that does the defending takes no damage whatsoever, no matter the circumstances.
>>
>>46420198
Fuck now I know what I'm making when I get animate dead with my current necromancer

Fire Emblem. If one character is adjacent to another being attacked, they'll sometimes randomly leap in front of the attackee and take the hit full on, somehow resulting in no damage to either of them.

What are your feelings on the latest additions to the outsider races from Bestiary 5, /pfg/? I'm speaking of:

>sahkils: NE, psychopomps who recognized that the cycle of souls is only postponing the inevitable, defected en masse, now live on the Ethereal Plane tormenting the souls they used to shepherd as a sort of "fuck you, we never owed you shit, we'll do what we want until the end comes"
>manasaputras: LG, high CR things from the 'Cosmic Fire' in the Positive Energy Plane, kinda self-fellating guys who find archons and angels 'too zealous?' and hang out with inevitables, seem in every sense like they should be LN except the writer wanted them to be unambiguous Wise Mentors You Should Listen To

They promised to fix the system. Then they took hours of hard work and feedback, spat it in their testers' faces, mocked and flamed anyone that didn't conform to their doctrine, nerfed shit like Quick Draw out of spite, and then banned the loyal testers they'd betrayed.

After, SKR and Bulmahn spent years turning their forums into an echo chamber by bullying and flaming anyone with system knowledge, often followed by a ban.

At least since 2003 cannibalism (eating any sapient being) has been evil, doesn't matter if they're fresh or not. Although, actually, I can see it being not evil if you have to just to survive, like being trapped with bodies during a massive blizzard without other sources of food. Killing sapient beings just to eat them should still be considered evil.

>subjective morality
>in D&D

Yes, and animating skeletons isn't evil if you use them for work!
>>
>>46422891
Well intent does matter, because intent is the difference between killing and murder. The problem with d&d morality is that it's never defined where the line is drawn. Theft is chaotic, looting corpses of fallen enemies is still taking items that aren't yours, but it's not chaotic.
>>
>>46422474
>>46422551
Does this mean JJ holds eating other intelligent beings in a higher regard than trying to help intelligent beings breed into optimal genetics?
>>
>>46422913
A better analogy would be, robbing a grave is chaotic, and sometimes evil, robbing a corpse is not alignment shifting.

My only real problem with Mengkare is that he seems to think this will /work/. It won't. Inevitably, someone will turn out to have fiendish ancestry so distant he can't detect it - but not distant enough to avoid producing a Tiefling. While we're on the subject of Mengkare, I'd like to hear more about his relations with other dragons.

Specifically, if a Chromatic came to him for information or some other non-hostile purpose, would he allow them to live?

And what's he think of the fact that Kwislingyr even managed to happen?

Basically be a native outsider race with a bonded item as a racial feature. Let them:
>merge with their item to gain fast healing like the kami do
>have SLAs usable when merged based on the item type, like the Bonded Witch
>change shape like a mimic while merged with the item, but have the item revert to its base form (as selected at 1st level) when they leave the merge

Could have a racial variant that has familiars instead, and maybe a druidic variant for the plant spirits.

I'd say that eating sapient/sentient creatures is *probably* evil, though it requires a few extenuating circumstances.

If purely for survival? Probably not, though still morally questionable.

If part of some funerary right? Also probably not evil (depends on religion).

I still do understand why everyone thinks cannibalism is evil. I mean sure, if you murder someone with the intent to cannibalize them then that's obviously evil, but that's because of the murder. If they're already dead then you're dealing with a corpse, not a person, so how can something be evil when there's no victim?

Sadly, Kuru's Cannibalistic Vitality is awful. If it was a temp HP per HD of the creature, or per level, or it stacked with itself up to a limit, it might be usable (if not something to build around), but as-written it's garbage because temp HP don't stack with themselves unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Still, it could make for a decent initiator. Stalker comes to mind.

See, this doesn't actually compute for /pfg/. When complaining you can't play a Harpy they bitch about the Strix for any reason from "they ugly" to "waaah they can't use the Harpy's special racial singing thing!" Nevermind you can just refluff a Strix' appearance. Nevermind that racial flight from level 1 is already ridiculous, give em more. Garbage, but better than the rest.

Buff-centric Oracle would do well, two (if not three, depends on what the spiritualist goes for) of your party members are attack-roll-damage-dealers. Just casting Bless and getting into melee with a Longspear behind the Synthesist every encounter would be a great boon early on - accuracy outweighs damage in rusty dagger shanktown, because everybody dies in one or two hits.

Be sure to grab Dispel Magic at 6th.

He speaks like a true wizard-only grognard, anon. There are people who legitimately think that classes that aren't capable of ruining the game by themselves are worthless, simply as a virtue of not being able to ruin the game.

>>46424985
Magi can't summon a solution to pretty much any problem as a multiple-times-a-day class feature. Which is why they're T3, and Synthesists are low T2.

>>
>>46425099
arcanists*
>>
>>46425124
Okay, but that doesn't make them garbage overall. You don't seem to be getting the point here.
>>
>>46425080
In the guy's party, that Synthesist could very well be going around without the Eidolon on all the time, using his Summon Monster ability to make up for the lack of a real arcane spellcaster.

Furthermore, that doesn't change the fact that the Synthesist still has the versatile options, even if they require him to do a little bit of sacrificing.

And finally, "garbage" implies it's not good, but the Synthesist is very much not garbage. "Garbage in comparison" is a worthless metric, because a Witch is "garbage in comparison" to a Wizard, but it's still a wildly powerful class with lots of useful features that makes it stronger that the VAST amount of content for PF.

Just wanted to drop the news to the LotLK group (I know you guys browse this thread!) that I (MrB) might not be able to make it to the campaign tomorrow on account of a power outage that, knowing my lovely neighborhood, will probably take about 4-5 days to fix.l (only posting this here since I can't access Discord or IRC reliably on a phone.)

Rather than postpone the game until next week, I really do encourage you guys to go on without me; Sigurd's sheet is updated, he's not really got a lot going on in terms of bells and whistles (unless you consider maneuvers a bell and skills a whistle) and really, all the plot will be available on the IC Channel so I can do my homework to catch up when I finally get power this week.

It's 1PP only and the party lacks fullcasters entirely. Assuming they survive Rusty Dagger Shanktown, they're going to need at least one for certain situations - Dispelling, removing afflictions like poison, diseases, and curses, depending on the campaign they might need some item creation, and probably most important of all, level-relevant divinations, because an adventuring party without information is a dead one.
