Tristy makes me a slime, T.Powder can make me a mature slime, and then Solid Skull can let me be effectively human at will. I can also help Tristy reach maturity if she wants it. The T.Powder should also give me control over the human form I get with the Skull, though I do need to conserve uses. Hopefully the changes "stick" between uses of the skull.
Phaendra provides some nice enhancements for slimes. Improved dexterity and the ability to wear clothes. If I want the benefits though I may have to wait before using the T.Powder. Hopefully I won't have to wait TOO long though.
Holly is chosen because I don't actually know the first thing about raising slimes. It would also probably be a good idea to keep a full human around, and it will be especially difficult to manage things as a slimeling if I decide to stay that way for a while.
The location is a difficult choice. Since I'm going to be a slime myself, the slime-friendly locations are all decent, but what exactly am I going to do in a slime cave? The actual slimelings are probably too young to actually care, but that wouldn't apply to me even in that form. Ancient Ruins could be interesting, or it could be similarly boring. Really I probably want to live in a town or city of some kind. Sunshine is too human and probably not that slime-friendly. Masters legacy is too huge and I don't want to run an operation at that scale, so I'm left with Seafoam.

Incredible speed, toughness, and healing, a metal skeleton and retractable claws, so basically Wolverine (but faster) in little girl form, plus lightning magic and neuralyzer eyes. With the Life grimiore I'm basically majokko-lite, able to achieve immortality by constantly fighting the Evils (not that I need to worry about it too much with a 10,000 year lifespan to begin with). I'm not as powerful offensively, so I should try and stick to fighting minions, but with my healing factor and cheat-death ability I don't have to worry TOO much about losing. Fortunately, I don't have to be alone, I have a Fianna bodyguard who's even more interested in fighting than I am.
My false body severely hampered my ability to learn, so my family rectifies that the first chance they get by giving me the Knowledge grimiore for my next birthday. With that, my abilities are returned to normal levels plus the ability to learn via magic as well. This version of the CYOA does not even hint at what "utility spells" could be, so I'm leaving that option undecided. I could still assign the stat point instead.
I don't receive the Life grimiore until my second birthday, though it immediately sets my physical age to 12 (at this point, I would still be at the default 6). Until then, I won't be looking for trouble, I'll be more involved in properly learning my way around the new setting.

This build is actually open to a bit of multiplayer. The Fiona bodyguard could be another PC, who would receive the benefits of serving an honored Lilim family as well as potentially the shared benefits of the life grimiore if we manage to fight enough. Since we will be fighting the Evils, it also seems inevitable we would meet up with the Majokko at some point, though whether she would see us as allies, rivals, or liabilities remains to be decided.

Essence saturation is worth it because it isn't only a drawback. The fact that mortals can wield magic is a good thing. Sure, some may be dicks with it but it's a good bet others will keep them in line. If it ever comes to the point where some attain godlike powers, well, the same goes for the gods. There needs to be some upheaval to keep the world healthy.
Powerful beasts seem less disruptive than the first drawback, so may as well take it. Hopefully humanity will be able to fight back effectively, but if they can't, then there'll be gods to help them out.
Going back to 1300 could be good in a lot of ways, but what it implies is that if you don't take it you stay exactly where you are, the same world, with the same people including your friends and family. That's worth a lot more than 5 points plus a fresh world if you ask me.

Smite is okay, but touch range? Seems like it would rarely come into play. Banish is a bit odd, but I suppose it could be argued that any mortal is impure simply because of their mortal nature. So this is a spell to be used on your closest mortal allies, to grant them ascendance. I see no other conceivable intended use for Banish, so that's what I'm going with.

In my headcanon, you gain or lose small amounts over time depending on a number of factors from noticeability to moral consistency to your current level of power, and being connected to mystically potent (read: plot-relevant) events like stopping a war or slaying a great monster/hero/villain gives you an immediate power boost, like a fraction of a point for city paper news or as many as 5 points for world-changing acts of heroism, villainy, or just plain power.
Domains can be bought with this Essence, but it's harder than getting more powers - probably needing character development, higher costs, and/or maxing out all existing Domains. Thus, increased potential comes at the cost of reduced starting (and also minimum) power to actually perform those acts with.

I pick one good person, and make them the best I can. At first, there isn't much I can do beyond make them a Savior and give them a good luck touch every morning, so I spend a lot of time watching people and talking to other gods. However, as I slowly gain power through their actions, I take powers that let me enhance them further - Infuse, Beautify, or just spamming Intervention.
Once I reach the point where my hero could conquer a small country with only daily buffs, I start getting more personal and leisure powers, like Tangibility and Defy Death.
I likely wouldn't get much stronger than a more focused build's initial purchases, but I could shuffle my powers around with a few years of R&R before buffing someone again.

the money is kinda used for some perks, getting additional followers, upgrading said followers, creating additional stations, purchasing land in the city, or getting needed (finished) supplies.
also if you think you can just summon and claim a meteor within the city without a proper squad to guard it, the locals will teach you otherwise. Each "tree" has a different ratio of personal to indirect power, corp is most indirect (automation, security forces, and investments), gang is sort of inbetween (criminal empire, incredible stylishness, and funky radio beats), and bazaar most direct (Crafting, low-ish tier magic, and having your personal shop in unusual places).

Alright, then I'll start at the beginning of my poorly thought out headcanon.
I interpreted the line about being able to spend Essence on powers LATER as implying you can get more in the future - just talking about the next page could have been done much more concisely.
Taking this tenuous assumption, I came up with an idea that the CYOA starts you out as an adolescent god. Not a nascent one (that's freshly Banished mortals), but one of many, many growing fish in a big pond.
Whether there's some pseudo-entity handing out rewards, the collective human belief empowering them, or another explanation, gods can gain more Essence throughout their life.
This is primarily accomplished by doing things - anything that isn't 'curl up and die' keeps you at least as strong as you started, but more important, memorable, or difficult acts earn more Essence. It doesn't need to be killing things; self-imposed vows act as a minor but steady stream after you've kept them long enough, for example.
Sincere prayer dedicated to you also gives you a negligible amount of Essence with no effort on your part, and was acting as life support for a depressed/comatose Big G up until recent events.
Powers not in your core build decay as you lose Essence (through inactivity), but can be rebought freely once you regain your power.
Domains are much harder to change; they represent (and influence) you to a greater degree than your powers, so you need to spend Essence AND undergo a personality shift (likely incurring an Essence penalty) to unlock additional ones.

I don't think I have a single favorite, but I tend to keep coming back to that "mental powers CYOA" as a good example of a basic CYOA, so maybe that one. I think similarly of the Selfless/Selfish one and last thread's OP.

I'm too much of a hipster to really want to see CYOA get expanded into anything. That said, the original Island might actually work as a surreal survival horror setting that I'd be interested in watching/playing. Something where the characters are constantly searching for explanation or a way to escape, and just absolutely nothing turns up, while all sorts of threats with no connection to each other are constantly looming.

I prefer the simpler CYOAs, stuff where it's "choose one," "choose one from each category," or "pick two powers OR three perks and one power OR seven perks." I'm okay with points, and I tend to not bother once stats get involved. I like to see choices of powers, CYOA where the choices are about the player (that is the person actually reading the CYOA, not where you make a character that is assumed to have lived their entire lives in a fantasy setting), and wish fulfillment (or at least not being a "which of these sounds the least horrible"?). It hasn't been a problem for a while, but I don't like PvP/multiplayer at all.

Mainly something that will keep me thinking about it for a while. Choices that make me want to imagine what I would do with a given option, or options that are good and balanced enough to have trouble deciding between makes me keep coming back and rethinking what I'd choose.
