>>46370231
Well, the 25th anniversary one wasn't supposed to look like the first Space Marines, like this 30th anniversary one is. It was based on the art in pic related.

And what I meant about the fancy was more that he doesn't seem to come with a display base or anything like that.
>>
>>46370294
No, thanks our lord Kirby for that
>>
>>46370296
It's more that the 25th anniversary one took a ton of liberties with the original artwork/miniature of that image.

Didn't even have the distinctive gun arm.

I wouldn't pay $30 for the plastic HQs GW puts out but I'm paying $30 for this. Because I'm not poor and I want it.

Not the best use of $30 but it's 30 bucks who gives a shit. Recasters will still charge close to $30 for it because they're greedy faglords who charge more for their limited edition recasts because they know the artificial scarcity increases demand.

That's a limited model though not a generic HQ. If you don't buy this for $30 now you'll just have to buy it for $85 on eBay. We've already seen it happen with the past 4 exclusive plastic space marines as well as the past 3 exclusive resin ones.

If you're going to buy it. Isn't that kind of obvious?

If you don't want it and aren't going to buy it, why do you give a fuck? People who want it have to get it either at $30 or at even higher prices due to scalpers and gougers. Even chinaman isn't going to sell it cheap.

One doesn't HAVE to do anything, including breath. So maybe you should stop.

Use aluminum molds to save massively on the plastic injection costs and reap in the increased profits caused by lower start up cost and overhead and increased revenue due to perceived exclusivity.

>>
>>46381615
Banned, they never supported them apart from republishing the codex in one or two Chapter Approved compilations. Of course at the time they still did bitz order so you could mix and match all the fantasy orcs and 2nd edition snakebites you needed.

Hell, when I made my feral orks, there was an old, undeleted entry on the webstore for individual orc boarboyz at half the cost of boarboyz by the box that you could find with the search.

But yeah they banned them, because Feral Ork Madboyz were six points each, about half what regular Boyz cost at the time, and even though they had a random behavior table you could build Feral Ork lists that were way more powerful than regular Orks, so tourney players spammed madboyz. Of course not long after that the next Ork codex came out and all Boyz were 6 points. So it goes.

I miss these. The old multi part plastic HQ and Hero kits were fucking amazing, the empire commander, the elf wizards, goddamn.
>>
>>46382530
Yah, but it isn't all that difficult to learn either, just time consuming. I don't know why we're splitting hairs like this, can we just agree to disagree here?
>>
>>46382671
Yeah, I was very disappointed by the Interrogator-Chaplain. When I first heard the leaks of its release, I was excited, because I figured it'd be a cool thing to assemble, paint, maybe some kitbashing. I don't even play Dark Angels, I just wanted the model.

Then it released, and the bastard is not only $30, but monopose as fuck. It looks cool, but it'd be a pain in the ass to kitbash with that power fist, and not nearly cool enough to justify paying as much as 5- or 10-model kits.
>>
>>46382671
Problem is, it's very generic now. I mean sure it's not like monopose kits are going to help, but the new HQ kits are generally really discernable from standard marines.
>>
>>46382711

No, you're just straight wrong. Some cluelesss newbie is going to try to cast his own things with LEGO and a DIY resin kit, and he's going to mix the resin improperly, or wait too little or too long, or slip a mold somewhere and then come here crying about how /tg/ said it was supposed to be easy, when nobody says that except you.

Notice how nobody says painting is easy or simple.
>>
>>46382755
Why would you want to change him though? As a DA player, that Chaplain's loadout is fucking perfect, as is the model's sculpt. The only difference I might want is to put him on a bike, but obviously I'd just kitbash a black knight.
>>
>>46382808
>/tg/ said it was supposed to be easy
Stop putting words in my mouth.
>Notice how nobody says painting is easy or simple
No one says it's impossible to learn either. I didn't tell the guy to grab some resin and trying winging it, I implied it was something he should consider looking into.

>>46382808

Not that poster but I definitely fucked up the first couple tries. With casting it's pretty clear exactly how you fucked up and you can use that to get it right the next try. Clueless newbies should not expect to get everything right, not because that wouldn't be good, but because that's not what newbie means.

It wasn't fun to put him on a bike that is for sure but I love the model and am most certainly a Dark Angels player. Also I was able to get him for $20 so I didn't feel bad cutting him at the waist.
It was my first attempt at green stuff as well so his cloak in the back looks crappy, I should have gotten a bike with robed legs already.

Fucking how? Power fists are fantastic melee weapons when coupled with a higher initiative weapon like is Crozius and the model is one of the best looking space marines put out in years by GW. The only thing that sucks about the new Interrogator Chaplain is the price. Otherwise he's great for a heavy hitting Dark Angel HQ that's dirt cheap but efficient.
>>
>>46383208

The guy said he wasn't a DA fan, so what he was really looking for was looks, not what would run best for his game. And if he doesn't like the look of power fists, that's his choice.

Fuck.
No.

Anyone in my club with a decent bits box could bash one of these together in @5min - and so could virtually everyone reading this. Plus, OP's fig would seem pricey to me at $10. Don't do this, /tg/.

Don't let shills and gushing fanboys make us seem like enablers for this kind of marketing bullshit. Don't make it THIS EASY on the new boss.
>>
>>46384703

I doubt you could do a job that looked that good without wasting time greenstuffing and sculpting.

The mono eye beakie alone is already impossible to kitbash.

It's fine if you don't like it but don't try to pretend it's nothing special.
>>
>>46384915
Depends on how you define special.
"A single tactical marine with slightly different details" doesn't really hit that radar for me. Especially not for 30 fucking dollars.

It literally is the only plastic SM to have an old school beakie helmet with the mono visor.

You mean a direct remake of the original Rogue Trader models that have little resemblance in size or design to Reiksguard knights?

Nigga that's a bolter.

2/10 newfag. You can't bash that guy together at all as he's practically a photocopy of the old RT models.

> Are you fucking kidding me? He's convertible as hell

Compared to any plastics pre 6th edition, no
>>
>>46384958

Being generic is this model's strong point. You can't use the 25th anniversary model unless you play IF or a successor. This model can go in any marine army. It's why I like it so much. I don't need fancy blinged out models.
>>
>>46385544
Aside from the aforementioned Space Marine commander (which is an awesome kit, no denying it) What other plastic multipart "hero" kits where there?
>>
>>46385544

I sure wish they'd stop making mono pose plastic kits. I guess it saves on costs or something to not have to inject so many multiple parts.

The most useless models are the ones that require cutting to do arm, weapon, or shoulder swaps. Like, seriously?

most people who actually do the modelling bit of the hobby use some sort of putty.

If's borderline impossible to make a good looking scratch build without it, which unless you're the kind of guy who just wants to do a head swap every now and then, or are new to the hobby side of things you're probably doing for at least the characters.

Calling someone autistic because they think "why would I pay 30 dollars for one tactical marine that has some slightly irregular parts I could just do myself" is just you being mean spirited for no damn reason.
>>
>>46387465
>most people who actually do the modelling bit of the hobby use some sort of putty.

I think what was meant to be said was that most of the hobbyists don't "model" at all then. They just build things and maybe swap custom parts around.

Greenstuff and sculpting tools is NOT the norm even among veterans. Most people only ever have it just for magnetizing and filling gaps. Even basic shit like tabards and cloaks gets people asking "blue and yellow putty wat do".

Not a bad vid - camera's shaky, but you do more than some people with half as many views, and it's good to know there are flaws with the stiff sculpt. I feel like you could go more in depth if you wanted to, though - you don't really address many other ICs, or compare them to better models.

>>46409399

You're comparing a 3E sculpt to 7E sculpts. I would absolutely fucking prefer a 7E space marine HQ kit that was just a generic multi part commander. Instead, we get Cresty McGrav for $30.
>>
>>46409399

I could see liking them better if what is important to you is ease in which you can give them whatever weapons you'd like. That to me seems to be the biggest drawback of the current clampacks.

>>46409446

I think the problem likely is that it's expensive to do such a kit and the current sales don't justify it.

By making the SM range so compatible, GW has sort of made it pointless to create a Captain or Chapter Master clampack since you can create something somewhat suitable out of the bits from various kits.

>>
>>46409493

That's true, but at the same time, that compatibility is useless for the current HQs as they aren't compatible with anything except for head and backpack swaps.

A lot of people did buy the HQ pack just for the bits. I guess the new chapter upgrade packs are a good replacement but only a few chapters have them.

Monopose works on ICs who always have the same setup, but what's the point of giving a captain the entire armory if he's always going to hold whatever weapon the sculpt is in, and they only ever release one sculpt? Even when they released multiple sculpts he always had something stupid like a power sword and plasma pistol. It basically meant you HAD to build your own captain, often out of plain, less blinged up parts. Captains that should've looked like the official HQs ended up looking like a tactical marine rolled around in sternguard bits. Or even worse, just a tactical marine painted with some gold on it.
>>
>>46409520

>It basically meant you HAD to build your own captain, often out of plain, less blinged up parts. Captains that should've looked like the official HQs ended up looking like a tactical marine rolled around in sternguard bits. Or even worse, just a tactical marine painted with some gold on it.

This is what I was getting at, the fact that this option exists also possibly impacts sales of clampacks.

It's seemingly easier to kitbash a Chapter Master or Captain than it is a Librarian, Chaplain, or Techmarine.
>>
>>46384703

>>
>>46409577
>It's seemingly easier to kitbash a Chapter Master or Captain than it is a Librarian, Chaplain, or Techmarine.

Because at the end of the day, a Captain or Chapter Master is a blinged-up Marine with fancy weaponry. There's an awful lot of bling and high-end weaponry spread out across the range that's all entirely compatible which makes kitbashing one a doddle.

Librarians, Chaplains and Techmarines on the other hand all use very specialised and unique gear that's only ever found on monopose IC models. If you want to make your own you need some proper converting chops because you're going to have to make everything yourself of hack apart various metal and resin models to make it all fit properly.
