Well.

>PCs come back to down from a boar hunt, successful
>Bring the carcass to Ameiko's tavern, she cooks it up for dinner.
>As she's important later, I flash her character image around and do a second or two of RP.
>PC A walks up to her, acts charming and tries to seduce her, rolling diplomacy. She politely declines.
>PC B walks up to her and threatens her into having sex with PC A, rolling intimidate. She nervously agrees.
>That night, she walks into PC A's room and gets atop him.
>I mention 'in the dark you feel tears on her cheeks'
>PC A stops and sends her away.
>Game ends before Ameiko can plot her revenge.

We played a game called Pavillon Noir (Black Flag in English but I'm not sure it has ever been published in GB/US). Anyway it is a game about pirates.
We raided a town and came across a convent and raped the nuns there. Some PC participated (mine included), others did not. As it is basically what pirates do when they raid a town, it did not cause any problem between players.
The GM did not describe the rape scenes and made an ellipsis and as we are not creepy people, we were totally fine with that.
One other time I prevented one of my (male) friends to get raped by an other crew member.

In the D&D 5E campaign I'm currently in, our party's dwarf noblewoman fighter and human hermit Old One warlock who had multiple tentacular magical items in his possession ended up raping a nobleman, who had attempted to murder us with the help of spiking the drinks he offered to us with some Philter of Love.

The dwarf fell in love with the nobleman, warlock fell in love with the dwarf... Three-way drama ensued, and things went from bad to worse when the dwarf grabbed the nobleman's feet, refusing to let him go until "he loved her back".

My wizard didn't drink his wine, because I just knew there was something wrong with it, especially because it was correct etiquette to down your drink offered by your host, even if you declined his offer at first. He suffered for that, greatly...
>>

We literally get called on using language that promotes rape culture in-game now. It developed gradually but now I'm legit looking into a new group/starting my own.

>>
>>46374569

>>
>>46374897
He's saying that if you're going to arbitrarily omit something like rape from your setting you might as well just go completely nonsensical and divorced from reality and make it as bland and unoffensive as possible, much like a Disney property.
>>
Nah. It's not really part of the themes of the games or settings I've ran and it's just not that interesting that I'd want to spend time on it, and I don't think my players would get much enjoyment out of it either. So we don't.
>>
>>46374926
So, are you implying that including rape in a setting makes it more interesting and, thus, better than a setting that excludes it?

Because that's what it sounds like you're implying.
>>
>>46372249

It's cool that you're able to run a setting with no rape, death, or violence.
>>
>>46375062
Remember that not all roleplaying games are just about ultraviolence and acquiring currency, anon.
>>
>>46375019
I'm not implying that. Rape, like murder, is a narrative tool that can make a setting more interesting depending on how it's used. If you don't want your players do deal with it then why not just make that ruling OOC?
>>
File: 1458248298792.jpg (83 KB, 387x412) Image search: [Google]
1458248298792.jpg
83 KB, 387x412
>>
>>46375167
Is making a ruling OOC any different from ruling it out of the setting?
>>
>>46375214
Yes. Telling players it's not something you're going to deal with in-game is different from crafting a world in which it does not exist. Replace rape with murder and tell me that a setting in which murder never occurs is not a vastly different thing from simply telling players you won't be dealing with any storylines involving murders or, by extension, letting them murder others.
>>
>>46374136

They're getting gang-raped by giant furry snow monsters with foot-long dicks.

That ain't pleasant.
>>
>>46375249
But what if I'm okay with a setting where rape and murder and other really horrible stuff between people doesn't happen? I mean, it isn't explicitly necessary for a world to work, and if I was going to ban it OOC anyway why bother having it in the setting in the first place?
>>
>>46375367
Why bother explicitly saying it's absent from the setting at all? It seems by singling it out you're really just making a political statement that's apropos of nothing.
>>
>>46375463
Because OP asked.
>>
>>46375558
No he didn't, he just asked if people had dealt with rape in their games, not if it's part of their setting. Someone else chimed in that they just didn't have rape at all in theirs and people are discussing why that doesn't make sense.
>>
>>46375367
A setting where people don't rape and murder each other is a setting without people.
>>
>>46375636
Or a setting in which the concept of people is fundamentally different to the concept of people as you understand it.
>>
>>46375588
It was an answer and a clarification. That's the basic structure of a response.
>>46375636
That's a false dichotomy.
>>
>>46375664
You mean skeletons, don't you? He means skeletons.
>>
>>46375703
I understand the structure of a response. I gave you one in return and challenged you on yours, but instead of giving an answer for 'why' it seems like you're just going to resort to semantics.
>>
>>46375711
>implying skeletons don't bone each other
>>
>>46375463
Yeah, I don't see any point in explicitly mentioning rape does not happen. If it never came up during the campaign, then it's a fair assumption that it's a theme that will not be dealt with. Most of my games lack any sort of morbid themes because I dislike dark stories.

>>46374136
>>
>>46375742
I already justified my response. The setting doesn't include rape because, ultimately, it doesn't need to be in there. Sure, it can be used as a narrative tool, but it's one I do not like to use.
>>
>>46375636
Golden Sky Stories must be interesting at your table.
>>
>>46375819
Doesn't include rape by omission or do you explicitly tell players that 'rape does not happen in this world'? Because that's the point of contention. I have no issue with just not dealing with the subject or its presence in a setting, but to just make a statement without any context to players "oh and by the way no one ever rapes anyone, ever" seems weird and like you're addressing an issue where none existed because you want to highlight your own personal politics about it.

>>
>>46375814
What kind of disfiguring would make them unsuitable for slavery?
>>
If I ever do it's not glamorized at all. It's horrific and usually offscreen. Something implied than explicit.

A recent example was a village plagued by goblins and a troll that abducted their women. Those women left were deliberately hidden from public view. The party, including a woman, came into the village and got weird and desperate looks. One thing leads to another and they're hired on to find and kill the troll, and rescue the women if they could. The last abduction wasn't long ago, maybe a day. The troll comes into the village seeking to abduct the female party member, they manage to fend it off and track it back to it's lair. There they find most of the abducted women, now maddened Trollwives walking with a limp and grotesquely pregnant, the mothers of the goblins. The latest abductee was separated from the others, starved, with a broken foot, and is traumatized. Turned out the troll would break one foot so the women couldn't escape, and fed them human flesh to corrupt them into Trollwives to bear his progeny. Vile things trolls.
>>
>>46376295
Troll seemed like he knew what he was doing, had a whole system for it and everything. Is that just how trolls operate or was he an innovator?
>>
>>46369521
Yes, and no one complained. My games are full of rape, players wanting it or not. If they don't want, the door is open for them to leave and whine on social media.
>>
>>46376406
It's how trolls operate mostly. Vile things that only seek to propagate their own kind. This troll was a little smarter on average, because he was still driven by the desires of the person he once was.
>>
>>46369965
>>46369913

The Group was attempting to glean information on a brutal warlord
who had typical evil-viking minions that stomped around like they owned
everyone's shit.

So one of the players decided that his male character would enchant himself
to appear to be a beautiful comely lass to be bait for the raiders.

Sure enough, he was grabbed and brought back to their camp. Then the raiders fought over who got to "claim" the soft-wife which meant most of the camp took non-lethal damage. The winner then grabbed the PC by his hair and dragged him over to the most remote hut.

So the Raider starts disrobing the PC, and this is when I'm expecting a hilarious one-liner, and some impressive magic to disable the barbarian. Instead, the Player just says

>"I-I go along with it, I can't blow my cover!"

I told him, you're alone, most of the camp is trying to shake off a brawl, and this man smells like filth, dried blood, and onion-breath.

>"I kneel down and assume the position."

Disgusted, I looked to one of the other players at the table for help, since they were all nearby the camp in the bushes. Thankfully the eldest caught on and had his rogue quickly sneak into the tent, behind the raider and slit his throat as he was trying to drop his pants. I described the spray of blood and the body that fell down partially on top of the disguised PC.

After that incident, the Rogue spread word that the disguised PC had caught an awful diseased blight from the Raiders, and no one ever wanted to touch him, to say nothing of sharing a bed with him.

Magical Realm destroyed.

From the synopsis it doesn't seem like it at all. Trolls are rather unique in their brashness of looking for mates, not everything is out to fuck all the women in the world.

What is true is that women are more commonly targeted by spirits, and so are often the more magically capable of the sexes.

Genghis Khan literally took women back with him to be his wives and bear him a dozen million children.

Being "raped" by him was the best thing any Step-Nomadic woman could even wish for. Opening their legs to him was opening a door to a life of luxury and comfort. As tales of his deed spreads, women willingly gave themselves to him.

So, if you wanna spew bullshit, the least you can do is write his name correctly, you SJW piece of shit.
