In Buddhist stories, people who were too proud (but not necessarily bad) were often punished with reincarnation as tengus or magic kitsune. Humans are considered top tier since they're the only race that can became Devas.
>>
>>46352962
We have the potential to get really cool powers once we die and ascend to heaven. Same reason why vampires are considered "lower" than humans since they're literally damned despite all the awesome powers.

>>46353180
Humanity Fuck Yeah has *always* been /tg/.
>>
>>46353180
Remember how in many settings, it is humans that are considered incredibly vital to the setting despite the fact they may seem considerably weaker. This is due to the fact humans oft have the "potential" to be something greater than everything else. LotR's elves for example, are better than humans in every way; but there souls will not come forth for the next great music. It's a more mythological aspect that's not so much HFY as it is "humans are important since they have choice".
>>
>>46353260
That's objectively wrong. Please direct this thread towards a traditional game oriented subject.
>>
>>46353260

It's never been "/tg/".
People posted it here in the past, but that's hardly a reason to pretend that any shitty wank can "be /tg/" just because some idiots pretend that they're going to use it in a game when it's clear that no one will ever want to actually play with them.

>>
>>46353715
What do you mean by dominant? Do you mean most numerous? Straight up better? Or better in a special aspect like having the tastiest souls?
>>
>>46353687
Yes.
Everything must come to an end.
The only difference is the amount of effort you put into it.
After all, the only universal measure of the life success is achievement. If you have achieved something improbable, or even impossible, then you have won.
And to achieve that thing you have to put effort talent, work into it.
Think of it as a score game.
You can give up at the beginning and score zero points, or you can live your life struggling to achieve something grand, achieving it and gettig a fuckton of points.
But it won't mean anything if the game is endless - after all, if the game never ends, then the score is never tallied.

My point is that this is neither relating to a tabletop game, or a board game. It's not planning for a board game, it's not homebrewing a tabletop, hell it's not even worldbuilding.

You and your thread are a cancer to this board right now, even quest threads are more related to /tg/. How does it feel knowing you probably bumped an on-topic thread off the board by making this? Was it worth it?

Buddhism is hilariously Lamarckian in some interpretations when it comes to reincarnation. Being a adshole bully as a human lets you get reborn with a better body to better hone your assholeness until your karma accumulates until you become reborn as an asshole demon.

You humans are all talk. Whenever the magical races leave you alone for too long, you spout this shit like you are the masters of your domain. And then when real power passes through your short lives, you remember your place and dare not speak our names for decades lest you attract our ire. I remember a time, when I was a child, that your ancestors would only refer to our kind as 'the good people' and 'the fair folk' because you were afraid that if one of us should overhear you disparage us, ruin would come to your kingdom. It was not an unfounded fear.

So go ahead, dream that you are somehow superior to those who can bend the nature of the world to their whim or cast storms with a whisper. Praise your accomplishments such as walking on the moon to those who can pluck the moon from the sky and walk in the realms of gods.

But do yourself a favor and remember that these are only dreams. You do not rule the Earth through superiority, you are just the only people who were too powerless to leave it and see the more interesting realms. Earth honestly isn't all that great, especially since you keep poisoning all of the best glades.

Now if you excuse me, my niece is creating her first universe. I promised I would attend.
>>
>>46354207
Threads like these are usually about fluff as in settings/homebrew and OP likely wanted to spitball ideas. You're just pissy because it could be marginally HFY related.
>>
>>46354250
No, I mean something. Anything. Anything that is not life. Aren't you curious?
>>46354260
The point is there is zero evidence to either of outcomes. Absence of evidence is not an evidence of absence. And guess what, I'm curious. That doesn't mean that I want to die right now, god forbid.
But someday I will die, whether willingly or not. And I'd like to think that I will get a fuckton of points for my life, even if those points matter only to me.
>>
>>46354412
So you would rather go for the uncertainty of death and the possibility of complete and utter annihilation of the soul, if a soul even exists, over the chance for eternal life?
>>
>>46354379
>powerless to leave it

But that's what OP is talking about. Humans reach their potential after losing their mortal coil.

Says the non-existent race of fuckbois
>>
>>46354440

>>
>>46354440

If what happens to us when we die is based entirely on what we believe rather than an already existing metaphysical exosystem, then the world is crueler than anyone could have imagined and any divine intelligence that shaped it is the most massive asshole ever to have existed.

Because only good people will believe that their flaws make them deserving of punishment, and will create personal hell.

And evil people will have no qualms about what they have done, and create the heaven they so justly 'deserve'.
>>
>>46354472
I'm sure I wouldn't.
Because there is nothing. Stop kidding yourself. There is no soul. You are a biocomputer with all its flaws, that will lose all semblance of consciousness once the electricity in its brain is cut off.
Absence of evidence is not an evidence of absence? That's fucking great, for while I haven't seen unicorns they are sure to exist, and all exoplanets are made of cheese! Seriously, mate, you should be excited to see them!
Humanity hasn't come up with a single theory of what lays beyond that would in any way look like anything more than a product of fear of their fragileness. They are incoherent at best and stupid at worst.
Fuck church for ever giving me hope, it hurts thousands times more now.
>>
>>46353889
Skub users die young

Science proves this.
>>
>>46354596
Anon, if there's truly nothing after the life ends, I won't be around there to feel it. And I will cease existence fulfilled, finally satisfying my curiousity.
Humanity hasn't come up with a single theory of what lays beyond? So fucking what? Then you have to experience it yourself!
Do you not want to step on the sands of Mars with your own feet? Do you not want to explore the microcosm on the scale of femtometres? Do you not want to gaze into the black hole with your own very eyes? Do you not want to experience all of these exciting things? I do.
And just as I want to experience all of these mysteries, so I do want to experience death, at least once in my, well, existence, I guess.

It is natural to be afraid of death, so I can sympathize with you, after all, death is the ultimate unknown, and people were always afraid of unknown.
That said, while I do not wish an untimely death - after all, there is so much to do! - I do look forward to it when the time finally comes, even if I do cease to exist in the end.
