So, anon, what do you like more - the MTG as a game or it`s art and setting?
I love watching art, reading these little fluff lines... But i don`t have the dedication to buy real, physical cards.

Pleb as fuck. Enjoy your literal tumblr trans autist pandering garbage.

I bet it someone said it about every tabletop game in existence.
While it's messy I have fun with the new lore and art. Some of it actually looks pretty good.

Look at his big, adult tastes. I'm so impressed.

I like it both, but I wish I could play flavorful decks that are both fun to play and feel stylistically in like with the settings.
Ravnica is beautiful, but there's no reason to use cards like Tin Street Market unless I'm doing something a little gimmicky.
I guess I'm a kitchen table player who spends lots of money simply for the sake of setting and sets I like.

It's kind of a packaged deal for me. I wouldn't be playing Magic the Gathering if it wasn't a fun game with with interesting lore/art/story etc. I could just play, like, Poker or something otherwise.
I suppose it would be most accurate to say I came for the art and stayed for the gameplay.

That might be possible with a casual Highlander group.
>>46324164
I like the game enough, I love the art. But the writing could be a lot better...
But maybe thats just what happens to writing when you want a wide audience...
>>46324164
I play for the gameplay, magic is a super interesting and complex game. The flavor is just a nice bonus
>>46324923
I feel the same way. I would love the ability to use more flavorful cards and decks outside I casual.

Here's my problem: the writing. The mechanics are great. The art is fine. The worlds they build are interesting. The writing is shounen anime/weekly children's cartoon levels of meh. While I like the idea of having planeswalkers you could follow from world to world, actually spend some more time on the characters in he world like you used to.

keep it that way
buy a pair of duel decks to play with someone if you're really tempted then stop
if you really want a fix, play that free game on steam
it's not worth it, ultimately
>>46324164
Same.
I don't even agree with the argument that the fluff is shit nowadays.
It's been a bit better, but it's also been much, much worse.
And the last few short stories haven't been bad at all. Hypnotoad was a good bit of classic mythos-inspired horror.
I think they're fighting against the perceptual inertia of "magic story sucks", and their stupid decision to have the Jacetice League defeat the Eldrazi like they did.

Post Rebecca Guay or gtfo.

Is Nils Hamm an acceptable substitute
>>46326954
Acceptable. Good taste.

I like it as a game. I haven't enjoyed a lot of the recent art, but there are exceptions (pic related)
I wish Wizards did more stylized stuff with their art direction
