How do most orc lists turn out in KoW?

Are Cavalry heavy orc lists as good as they used to be?
>>
Is there any date for the new twilight kin models?

Also, what's a strategic point in using a Hero (Kingdom of men)?
>>
>>46308668
I don't see Orcs played much, oddly, but they seem to do alright in tournaments.
They've got most cavalry types excepting Nimble, for which I'd consider Goblin allies.

They're very glass cannon compared to most other faction cavalry, but their weakness (gunlines) are what they're also strong against with De 5+ and greater speed. You'll want to deploy them in an ideal manner, and the general rule in KoW is to always have tarpits or chaff.
I might consider the MSU route with it with Skulks or Orclings. You want to get the first charge right with their cavalry.

>Also, what's a strategic point in using a Hero (Kingdom of men)?
Cheap option for:
Multicharge (small base, easy fit) to increase your damage
Hero-hunter
War machine hunter
Ranged/Magic disordering

His stats look weak, but some strategically important stuff doesn't take much and he's low cost. Individuals zip around very easily, and just knocking out standard bearers and such is great.

what lists are run at tourneys?

is the game

-infantry heavy
-bow heavy
-siege heavy
-monster heavy
-mounted heavy
,rewarding to a specialist army or rewarding to a balanced army.
>>
>>46308843
Mmm... yeah, their stats look weak, but they are cheap and with some items I guess they could make a difference in the battlefield.

Going to play with some lists that relay more heavily on heroes, see how things behave.
>>
>>46308774
Last I heard they probably won't even start on them by the end of the year.
>>
>>46309787
As far as I know, both both balanced and specialist work.
>>
How do I run the Herd? Can I do chariots and razorgor and stuff? Do they have ambushers?
>>
>>46307010
Just found out about this game. Reading the core book, seems pretty good. Another game that I can use my WHFB Empire army for. Are there any decent-quality battle reporters out there who do this game? I'd like to see a few examples of play.

Master Crafted is good to listen some discussions about strategies and shit.
Guerrilla Miniatures Games also make some fun videos, they make some mistakes time to time, but still fun to learn.
Fish Bat is more pure KoW and he has a clear presentation, mostly using pictures with arrows telling what has happened.
Gaming with the cooler, basically guerilla miniature games 2,0.

Man I really don't like the shorter dude in master crafted. He tries way too hard.
>>
>>46313174
Yeah, but the other guy is okay. I mostly like their strategy discussions and army reviews, I think they are way better at that than actual batreps.
>>
>>46313236
I'm with you. Emo beard guy seems cool and is worth watching. Other guy drives me away. But as far as KoW batreps there's not much else around...
>>
>>46312824
There's a game of Undead vs. Dwarves on Mantic's YouTube. As good a place to start as any.
>>
>>46308668
I saw a cav orc list the other day, it hit like a truck but if it got stuck in a grind it was in trouble. 4 regiments if boar riders and 2 wagon horses at 2000 points with mounted heroes.
>>
What are Height 0 units good for?
>>
>>46316392
don't block line of sight to units Height 1.
>>
>>46316392
Depends on their stats? Same as other units but they don't block LOS?
>>
>>46316392
Protecting short range firepower from being charged.
>>
>>46316392
Put them between your archers or warmachines and your enemy's beatsticks. You can shoot your enemy, but your enemies can't charge you because there's a swarm or grubs or rats in the way.
>>
>>46317941
>>46317716
>Height 0 provides cover against ranged attacks
So you pay points to nerf your own archers in a game where they're already weak as fuck?
>>
Any brotherhood players on? Not really sure how to run them, planning on making a Perry/Forefinger/Reaper force for a tourney in June. The 1d4chan tactics entry is pretty shocking, recommends focusing on flyers and shooting. I want an army of knights, so would 5-6 regiments of horse, 3 troops of reconoiterers and two regiment of archers with 3 siege artillery be a decent force? Hoping to have overwhelming mobility and force favourable charges with a refused flank/ stacked deployment. The archers will hold the flank of the main force, which will be focused on one side of the board. This is all very basic outlines, haven't actually played yet but is this a decent approach ? Any tips for brotherhood would be welcome.
>>
>>46317988
Height 0 only provides cover if your shooting units are also height 0. Height 1 archers can see over them just fine.
>>
>>46318278
Not true. Look at the FAQ.
>“Height 0 units”
>Like obstacles, these are considered to be height 1 for determining cover, but never block Line of Sight.
>>
>>46317988
I didn't say archers, I said close ranged firepower. Like weapon teams, or others that need to be in charge range to shoot.
>>
>>46318030
That sounds like a fine force, I find that with so much cavalry that opponents can stop some of them but you only need one or two to get through and they start causing havoc in flanks and such. Don't feel like you need to charge ASAP either, cav that waits 5 turns and then makes a good charge turn 6 is better than cav that takes a bad baited charge and dies turn 2.
>>
>>46319439
Good points. Would the cheaper initiate horse regiment be any good ? Thinking of doing 1-2 of those with 2 order of brotherhood and one of redemption. The knight give the initiates+2 Ne and inspiring, so they should be a decent second layer of chaff after the light horse.

Would it be better to get some of the harder units? Would flying cav be useful with so much mobility already? I'm a bit worried about having too small a force.

Also, martyr horde for a tarpit? They have 6+ Regen and no waver, seem pretty decent for this role.

Another thing I was thinking is troops of order of brotherhood on foot to bolster morale of the Archer force, or would they be too soft to bother with?
>>
>>46319662
>Also, martyr horde for a tarpit? They have 6+ Regen
I'm running a horde of Martyr and a Horde of Spearmen as two tarpits, then a few troops of bows and the rest as cavalry.
One thing to consider would be the Exemplar Forsaker- not too pricey, fairly strong, and can be a real headache for your opponents having a flying hero buzzing around.
I went with troops of bows personally, upgrading to a regiment only gives 2 more shots, and not much nerve- I figure if they get hit they are going to die regardless.
>>
>>46307010
Where do you get the models for the armies from uncharted kingdoms?

noob here obviously.
>>
Makes me sad this game is dead. But Mantic has no one but themselves to blame. It had potential, that's for sure.
>>
>>46319965
Wherever you like
>>
>>46319801
Is two tarpits necessary? Would an archer horde be decent alongside a martyr horde perhaps, they have phalanx to help with flanking units.

Tentative list:

Horde of martyrs
2x regiment of Order of Brotherhood
2X regiments of order initiates
Regiment of order of redemption

2x Bowman troop
3x villein reconnoiterers

Adjutant (bsb)
Adjutant-horse
Forsaker- quicksilver rapier
>>
>>46319965
They don't have official lines, you get them from wherever you like. I am using mostly my Warhammer Fantasy Battle Empire, with a few supplementary minis for particular units I like (viking minis for a fluffy viking-like ally kingdom for my "main," kingdom, for example). Thinking of getting some Warhammer Ancients phalangites for pikes/heavy pikes.
>>
>>46320163
Consider some Order of the Abyssal Hunt for the crushing strength. If you do get bogged down, it'll be very valuable, and you won't be gimped by the slightest bit of phalanx.
>>
>>46318328
That makes them great shields for warmachines with indirect fire to ignore the cover.
>>
What are you working on, /kowg/? I picked up some cheap Blood Reavers from Age of Sigmar on eBay to use as Varangur Reavers. They just arrived and assembly is pretty painless.
