Here are simple facts.
The two primarchs were purged.
Butthurt Word Bearers speculated that the reason the Ultramarines were large as a legion was because they assimilated the dead legions marines. Anyone who knows meta-fluff knows the reason the Ultramarines were big was because they were efficient as a legion and by far the most successful legion led by argugaly the best primarch who was skilled as a organizer.
