Lazy day ahead of me, so I don't have any plans of suddenly being kill. I purposely didn't upload a chart because even though I'm totally down for gnolls, machines, and yetis, it's not like you have limitations. Just pick a reasonable race and location.

Otter has been selected.

You are far from a cute race. Vicious hunters capable of creating food from whatever moves in the water, your tribe defends the coast it owns with pride. Most humans and other races know better than to try and have a day at the beach, as it often leads to a missing jugular or a spear through the chest.

Exploration of the coast has led to the discovery that our strip of mangroves goes on for a long time. However, we do know that the coast is the edge of a dense, humid bog. Also, half a days worth of travel eventually leads into the mangroves slowly turning into some kind of coastal grassland.

Our waters hold an abundant population of shellfish, urchins, turtles, small fish, and the occasional porpoise.

After some spectacular crafting done by our more intelligent members, we no longer have to sleep on the sand, and can now relax in large, turtle-shaped, floating tubes that can be planted into the seabed on stakes. These houses can hold 5 gnolls each, which means you currently have 3.

With two choices for exploration, you send two parties of 5 in each direction. With the grassland transition, you manage to unload on shore, and stealthy walk up the bank to see a medium sized settlement of farming satyrs. They don't notice you.

As for your bog expedition, you continue to find nothing but depressing swamp and weird bird noises. On your way back though, one of the explorers is seemingly smacked upside the back of his head, only to see nothing upon turning around.

Your shellfish pens are more steady and reliable now, though attempts at turtle domestication seem beyond your capabilities at the moment.

With a 70 for trapping, you manage to rig some self-tying snare traps lined with shattered conch shell for extra pain.

Spying, however, is an otter disaster. While trying to get some glimpses of their society and and farming, a young satyr child stumbles upon you while out playing. Due to the fact that you are very much a scary looking race of gross water beasts, the child turned around running and screaming. Though you managed to escape without adult intervention, you are no doubt an urban legend among the youth now.

Axes stay the same quality they always were, which is just random bits of shell fragments sticking out of a driftwood club.

Attempts at food preservation were equally pathetic. Despite not actually having salt in the first place, and only knowing about it from legends, one gnoll attempted to "salt" leftover globs of crayfish slop. This salt however, was actually a small crate of sugar that had washed up on shore, and discovered by the gnoll. The result was a horrible rotten abomination that reeked of death. Strangely enough though, some gnolls drank it, and acted quite silly afterwards, calling the beverage "chum". With the invention of music, a wild party was held later that day.

Several attempts at being able to propel boats faster were made. However, the stretched animal furs flapping in the wind failed to do anything other than inspire bullying towards the individual who had the idea. Boats are still moved by large sticks pushed into the seabed.

Fire, however, was a much smarter idea. Flesh tastes better now, and the night doesn't have to be so dark anymore. Despite the smoking of seafood being an option now, a majority of gnolls actually preferred turning leftovers into chum as a way of storage.

On the topic of chum, certain brew-masters have found a way to replace sugar with the naturally sweet juice of various mangrove fruits. This way, depletion of sugar is no longer a concern. Chum is also now produced in ludicrous quantities, being stored in artificially sealed turtle shells.

Finally, with exploration of the deep reef, the explorers have found a large bio-zone of fish and marine wildlife, that though impossible to harvest, confirmed that there will always be food along the coast. While underwater, one explorer reported seeing a large figure walking on the bottom in the distance.

Your clothing still remains cheap and tribal. The gnolls don't seem to care though, as they're fine with anything that keeps their groins from getting itchy beach fungi again.

As for spying, you decide to stay hidden a little longer. You notice that these strange folk seem to take the edible parts of plants, and put them underground for some reason. Weird. They also live in houses made of wood and straw, which is odd, because you didn't think you could make anything out of living trees before. Like last time, playing children spot you again, but you are able to retreat much more efficiently this time. You notice that when the adults come to the rescue, they are only holding the tools they had while out in the fields, and therefor, probably don't have weapons.

First, the bad news. The gnoll's plan to befriend the goat children has failed spectacularly. Taking charge of the operation, one gnoll decided to throw a pretty conch shell towards the children. However, he over-threw, and accidentally pegged one of them in the side of the head. Luckily, they have horns there, so it didn't seem to seriously hurt the child, so much as render it motionless on the ground for a good solid minute. It doesn't appear that they know it was us....

As for the good news, our mangrove fruits that we buried on the beach now have little green rods sticking out. Interesting.

After countless fruitless efforts, gnoll clothing has evolved from tribal, to more "practical". It's unlikely that civilized posh clothing could be weaved by such crude hands, so the average gnoll outfit is less like a noble prince's, and more like a survivalist commando's, being think and durable. It does make you look more intelligent though.

You release the captive while raising your hands in peace. Upon de-snaring, the captive immediately jumps up, and spin-kicks backwards in the direction of the nearest gnoll.

Roll a d10 to dodge.

The gnoll dodges perfectly as the crow lands several feet away. As it turns around, five more crows jump out. They do not seem to care about your oysters.

After discovering while trying to achieve peace that they don't understand gnoll-tongue, the group runs back to camp. You notice that the crows do not attack you as you leave.

The production of cloth big enough for sailing is an utter disaster. Simple clothing was manageable, but gnoll hands producing a sheet of quality weaving at such a scale is impossible. Feeling discouraged, the tribe heads to bed in their boat houses, having wasted the day on a failed expedition and poor use of cloth materials. In the morning though. one of the guards notices something odd. Laid out on the beach is a large folded pile of carefully sewn swamp grasses, big enough to tear into boat sized pieces. In the center of the pile, you find several empty oyster shells.

Light armor was also successfully produced.

Though the shells are just ordinary, unmagical shells, you do discover that chopping up fruit from the mangroves you buried, and dumping the pulp into your oyster pens make them grow much faster and larger.

While exploring the reef, your diving explorers fail to find any humanoids. However, they did report large footprints among the coral.

Your gang of gnolls seem to REALLY like the name Oysterious. Also, the new ax technology has led to the discovery of lumber, and thus, has made your ships much more durable and photogenic. Because they are larger, you now only have two boats, with 6 gnolls each.

PRAISE THE CHUM

All praise OYSTERIOUS, Mother of fresh succulent oyster and Bearer of sea life; She who devour the land otter; She who conceive the pearl of ancestor; She who retrieve it from the scheming land dwelling evil Plankton; She who dissolve the barrier from the stolen Chum; She who nurse the alpha otters who are ancestor. All hail OYSTERIOUS. In the name of thy chrome shell, we feast on mother body with enemy blood.
