For GW stuff you have to ebay it.

There are a lot of really great proxy companies though:

The golden age of Epic recasts was a few years ago. The best was Otterware; he finally got C&D'd and retired.

There are several companies now that do legit 1/300 grimdark minis of their own that are NOT tied to GW IP but fit the 40k universe pretty well. Exodus Miniatures and Troublemaker games are two of the best, but there are others. With GW and Forgeworld out of 1/300, there's a small but thriving cottage industry.

Epic rules are available online at Tactical Wargames. NetEpic and NetEA are both excellent and have large active fan communities. Thankfully, SG released the rules online before going under and so the game systems themselves are still playable and actually better supported now than they were under GW.

GW dumping Epic actually did the game a favor.
>>
>>46241964

Secret club is long gone. Like five years ago gone.

If you want GW, there's still plenty of it on ebay. But these days your better off supporting a small minis company that cares about epic. Their stuff often looks better than GW anyway.

1: On the tactcom forums people are very hush hush about it because they all have accounts tied to usernames and all that jazz, forums are the WORST way to share stuff that aren't entirely legal.

2: the good news is that several recasters hang out on /tg/. I have gotten in contact with 2 just by hanging out in threads like this until someone asked me for my email, now I own tons of forumware stuff.

3: the miniatures that were produced by casters who retired are still available because people made tons of molds of the originals.

My stuff is mostly resin recasts made from the metal originals created by the otterware guy and stuff like that, and the detail is good enough that I can still see the grain from the mass printer used on the original.
>>
>>46244701
This guy is legit as fuck and I have had nothing but good experiences with him. Resin is not always ideal on tiny fragile minis, but for the price it's still great, and the detail is amazing.
>>

i would like to buy stuff, but i want to start small, see how they look when i painted them and if i enjoy painting them. also i dont have that much money at the moment.

>Epic is the right scale for a battle of this size, it's much better than trying to cram giant robots into 28mm

This. 28mm is crap for anything above skirmish, and on top of 6mm being awesome for maneuvering and big battles, Net EA is just a way tighter game than anything GW puts out these days.
>>
Did Epic not sell well or something? Because it was indeed awesome, and I don't know why GW killed it.
>>
>>46245434

GW does not like greatness, you know that.

I'm one of those fags.
I'm sorry, I really wanted to get into Epic, but shit came up and ate all my hobby money.
Now all I can do is look at tiny, tiny figurines and wish I had the time to paint and play with them.
>>
>>46245434
GW released a revamp of the epic rules that were VERY different from the previous version (previous version was full of weird special rules and markers and hijinks) that was very streamlined and abstract, the current fanbase hated it and it was at the worst possible time for GW when they were trying to cut down on everything because they had done a bunch of fuckups like producing way too much translated rulebooks that they couldn't sell or some shit, so it was basically. "Okay I guess we have to get rid of everything except 40k and fantasy"

So it used to be one of the big gw games until gw both had to start trimming the fat and managed to piss off the existing fan base.

Which is a shame, because the revamped rules were GREAT, they were just too different for peoples tastes.

The current rules, Epic Armageddon are based a lot on the unpopular remake, and are awesome.

>>
>>46246300
woops, i kinda skipped everything and went straight to eldar.

correct question. do you only do bike size up for eldar?
>>
>>46246410

I am not offering any of the GW eldar stuff because I have commissioned a very skilled sculptor to create a whole new range of eldar based off the current GW 40k models.

Those will be dropping at some point this year.

In many cases you can still get eldar infantry off ebay for very reasonable prices.
>>
>>46246465
oh, when talking about prices i have no idea whatsoever how yours compare to gw's ebay's. i assume you have a profit margin and dont do this 100% for the hobby right ?
>>
>>46246592

I mostly do it out of love for epic, by the time I take into account material costs and time I am not really making any money.

It is really too bad I do not have this kind of passion for something that would make me rich.

Part of the driving force is thinking about how bummed and frustrated I was years ago when I could not get epic miniatures myself.

Remembering when I was too poor to afford the epic forge world tau stuff and then watching it fade away.

Now I can be the guy that brings epic joy!

Here is a great ebay example in the meantime.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/EPIC-Warhammer-40K-Armageddon-Eldar-Infantry-Sprue-/351616423907?hash=item51ddf8d7e3:g:WPUAAOSwZ1lWg0wI

It comes out to about $1.75-$2.00 per unit and that is well in line with my stuff.
>>
Man, I'd love to get into Epic but I have no idea if I'd ever actually be able to play with people.

maybe I could just convince people at my FLGW to play 28mm with Epic rules, lol
>>
>>46246997

The problem is not just the rules but the scale, the standard 6x4 table is simply too small for 28mm.

Perhaps if you have a gymnasium floor and unlimited turns, then 40k would be playable.
>>
>>46247065
I don't mean playing Apoc, I just mean take the Epic rules for the turn order and graft it onto 40k.

I was reading the Epic rulebook and it just seemed a LOT more interactive and fun if you get to switch off with your opponent and not just sit there and jerk off while he makes all his moves at once.
>>
>>46247123
I could talk it up all day long...

It handles everything in a matter that makes sense.

Units act the way you would expect them to in a fluffish manner way more so than 40k.

The way warmachines and especially flyers are handled adds real layers of depth and fun.
>>
>>46247186
I haven't even gotten that far yet, but I'll keep reading.

Maybe I should do this as my first homebrew...
>>
>>46246465

OMG you're not going to have multiple poses per troop type are you?

I'm going through this catalog and I'm thunderstruck. Also in here are several original models that were never released in epic scale. Plus Forgeworld. Plus Aeronautica Imperialis.

I also found some positive reviews in prior threads about epic stuff.

The only thing missing is BFG. Wow.

And I can attest to the solidness of Epic:Armageddon. very good ruleset.
>>
>>46247297

Yes there will be multiple poses, it is going to be amazing.

There are a few BFG items in the catalog.

On a long enough timeline I hope to have all of the epic, battlefleet gothic and warmaster range.

I am very very close with epic.

BFG is going to be hard because I never see the various OOP forgeworld stuff online.

Same goes for warmaster there are very rare models that are hard to get hold of, it will be an adventure just like the epic stuff has been.
>>
>>46247251
>Maybe I should do this as my first homebrew...

Do it and then post it here, there are many many people lusting after a different ruleset to use for their 40k miniatures.

Folks are suffering.
>>
whats the difference between
epic 40k
epic Armageddon
and netepic
>>
>>46248486
epic 40 000 was the third edition of the game that did not go over well with the player base because of how different it was from the previous 2 epic editions (Adeptus Titanicus and Space Marine) it did not sell well and was supported for a very short period of time, less than a year. In short, the game was very streamlined and well designed but cut down on a lot of details and quirky (but sometimes complicated and time-consuming) rules and favoured even heavier abstraction.

Epic Armageddon was the sort of re-launch of epic as a specialist game with a lot of new miniatures and a rules set based on Epic 40 000.

Net Epic Armageddon is the updated version of the Epic Armageddon rules sets, the rules are kept up to date and revised and tested by fans, and is imo really, really good.

NetEpic is another fan-updated version of Epic that has grown a lot of it's own rules and plays very differently in some ways from Netepic Armageddon. It is an attempt to re-introduce more special rules and flavour for a lot of the miniatures, as an example titans have much more detailed rules and more options than in Net Epic Armageddon.
>>
Resin Bro,

you're great, and your previous threads have been part of my motivation to get into BFG casting. That exact feeling of not being able to find any minis or players is what motivated me to get off my ass and order my vacuum degasser this morning!

>>
>>46249373
Netepic Armageddon. It's basically the continuation of the latest "official" Epic game.

I really like both it and Netepic though, most tournaments run Netepic Armageddon and it's the smoother of the two.

The only time I really use Netepic is when we do titan battles with almost only titans and supers. Way more fun rules with hit tables and quirkier weapons and plasma counters and stuff like that.
>>
I do like the idea of making Apoc versions of Epic's line up for people who like the normal size, but I hope with the recent management change they bring Epic back as an alternative for people who have preference for the smaller sculpt and altered scaling

Oh god. IG in Epic. The scale at which they actually make fucking sense.

In fact, pretty much ANY FACTION in Epic = The scale at which they make sense.

IG: Combined Arms masters with some of the best tanks and cost effective infantry options. Basic armylist is super flexible, nevermind all the other IG regiment lists NetEA came up with later HA HA TIME FOR ELYSIANS!

Orks: Giant roving grinding machine formations that don't give a single fuck how many casualties they take as they run into screaming and shooting wildly into the air. Whereupon they thrash you senseless.

Eldar: Hit and Run masters whose ability to outmaneouver you is matched only by how FUCKED they are if you manage to do it anyway.

Space Marines: OH JESUS CHRIST I ONLY HAVE THREE RHINO'S WORTH OF DUDES PER DETATCHMENT HOW DOES MARNEUS CALGAR DO IT?

Chaos Space Marines: THIS IS HOW HE DOES IT YOU FUCKMOUTHED CORPSE WORSHIPPING FAGGOTS.

Titan Legion: My armylist is 4 units. I regret nothing.

Tyranids: See orks. But ramp it up to 11.

Tau: Pew pew pew.

What, that Resinbro is just recasting stuff or there's 1 person in a country of 24mil people that is making the metal originals?

By your logic, why are people in this thread even talking about these 3rd party miniatures, GW might find out!

>GW might find out!

This is not a legit mentality?

Buy it all, and then check ebay, and then make molds and scans, then sell what you do not want

buy it AAAAALLLLLL

>>46270589
Buy everything, resell on ebay at profit.
Or give me store name. If it's within one day travel, I'm getting the stuff myself.

Hit me up, I'll buy the same day.

Are you sure that there was an epic Inquisition list ? That would be awesome.

I have the old Orks and Squat Warlords rulebook in the attic. It got everything for the squats apart from the Cyclops super-heavy.
I could upload it on /tg/ in a few weeks if some anons are interested. It would be in french, though.

Pretty sure the inquisition lists are more or less ally lists for imperial factions.

They don't have any of the superheavies or huge numbers that the rest of the imperial organizations have.

From what I recall quickly off the top of my head when browsing there was a 2nd edition Abaddon, 2nd ed Chaos Terminator with Dark Reaper Autocannon and a bunch of other miscellaneous figures. I know they're 2nd edition due to the 40k logo being in yellow and red and Abaddon non-2nd ed metal version is currently being asked for $50 on Ebay right now? I might grab it all and offload it to a friend of mine who I know still plays or ask around for people at GW stores who are after any packs specifically. I unfortunately no longer play 40k game but I do keep interest in it from time to time.

All of that stuff is worth more than the original price now so unless the store asks more for it than similar new 40k stuff you can just buy and offload the lot.

Epic and Warmaster really are the only ways to play GW stuff aside from actual skirmish games. Warmaster is seriously the best game they've ever made.
