Mmkay, so, at present I'm in the process of designing a game. Never made one before, and it'll be quite large. (Incidentally, it probably won't succeed but, I am going to try nevertheless!)
But, what I'm after is information and sources. Whilst I enjoy WH40k quite a lot, I don't actually KNOW that much about it, so I don't know what's good or bad.
So, I wanted to get some help.
I've searched a few pages and I've had suggestions to check the Lexicarnum which I shall do tonight and this weekend.
But, the information I require is two fold.
1. Buildings/blueprints on buildings in an Imperial Hive so I can transfer them into a 3D model.
2. Codex of the Space Marines. I can probably get this myself, but, number 1 I'm struggling with.
Help would be very gratefully recieved.

I have a few pictures of a Hive City, from the Necromunda rulebook, I believe.

Search "Gothic architecture" on google. That's literally all any of the 40K designers have ever bothered with.

Yeha but I don't want to just be "another" WH40k designer. I want it to actually be as close to the lore as possible. And I know that some of the lore isn't just gothic, it's a mix of stuff. Hence why I'm asking. :)
Thanks for the pages also! :)

>1. Buildings/blueprints on buildings in an Imperial Hive
Apart from the Necromunda pages above, there's jack shit actually detailing what a Hive city looks like on the structural level. Basically, just make it overly gothic and slather it with skulls/saints and no one will bat an eye.
>2. Codex of the Space Marines
The 'real' Codex is bigger than a man, and has there's no more than a handful of sentences worth of info on what's actually in it floating around.
I'd suggest just picking up a few novels and blasting through them. The SoB ones are good, and the 90's era of books is probably the most detailed about buildings.
Well, I want the Codex for another reason. I want it to get details for tabletop gaming about Space Marines.
And well, fair enough. Shame though, because I wanted to use near official stuff.

Mira: Titus, stop admiring the landscape. We have Orks to purge. I'll buy you a postcard later.
Are you designing a tabletop game, or an online game?
If tabletop, the old TerraClips sets were amazing for building gothic hive/underhive structures.

It bothers me that all the architecture in 40k is Gothic (Western European). There should at least be more Byzantine and/or Ottoman style architecture, since the Emperor himself was born in what is now Turkey.

There are a few onion domes, minarets, and Renaissance-era structures mashed in. The key word is "ornate" though. Everything is textured. Everything. Preferably with skulls.
