40k question

Would it be possible to live on a secluded planet with perfect living conditions in paradise, completely oblivious to the horrors of the galaxy?
>>
>>46219166
Yes. The whole 40k Galaxy being a shithole is a meme that needs to die. The majority of imperial citizens have a syandard of living roughly similar to working class in a first world nation of modern earth. Most of them will never see anything represented in model form their entire lives. Hell, many of them have no idea what the true scale of the imperium is, and they really don't care.

[citation needed]
>>
>>46219166
Sure.

There are places called Paradise Worlds and they are fucking beautiful. The people on them though wouldn't know much about the galaxy, since they are too busy having it easy.
>>
>>46219166
Hmmmm. Secluded planet implies it's in a backwater like the Eastern fringe or another outskirt. The only problem is those are the places most likely to be attacked.

Perfect living conditions, provided it's been lucky with it's government and doesn't have too many resources which Imperials want to strip mine, are perfectly possible.

Oblivious to the horrors of the galaxy; well Imperial propaganda is so prevalent that that is very possible.

planets vary way to much within the imperium to make any broad statements such as this, but I would argue that the mainstay of imperial people live lives roughly analogous lives to people who lived during the industrialization of europe, overlain with even more dogmatic religion forced down their throats and the widespread use of arcane tech that no one really knows how it works, coupled with a low educational standard.

May I remind you of the introduction to almost every book of the setting ?

>It is the 41st Millennium. For more than a hundred centuries the Emperor of Mankind has sat immobile on the Golden Throne of Earth. He is the master of mankind by the will of the gods and master of a million worlds by the might of his inexhaustible armies. He is a rotting carcass writhing invisibly with power from the Dark Age of Technology. He is the Carrion Lord of the vast Imperium of Man for whom a thousand souls are sacrificed every day so that he may never truly die.
>Yet even in his deathless state, the Emperor continues his eternal vigilance. Mighty battlefleets cross the daemon-infested miasma of the Warp, the only route between distant stars, their way lit by the Astronomican, the psychic manifestation of the Emperor's will. Vast armies give battle in His name on uncounted worlds. Greatest amongst his soldiers are the Adeptus Astartes, the Space Marines, bio-engineered super-warriors. Their comrades in arms are legion: the Imperial Guard and countless planetary defence forces, the ever-vigilant Inquisition and the tech-priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus to name only a few. But for all their multitudes, they are barely enough to hold off the ever-present threat to humanity from aliens, heretics, mutants -- and far, far worse.
>To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable. These are the tales of those times. Forget the power of technology and science, for so much has been forgotten, never to be relearned. Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for in the grim dark future there is only war. There is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods.

>the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable.
>>
>>46219166
Yes. There are planets isolated from the rest of the galaxy (therefore mostly free of daemons, aliens, and imperial crusades), and a few imperial paradise worlds are preserved for the leisure of high-ranking officials. I imagine the inhabitants of such worlds to be like the french living in touristic areas except that being too rude to a warmaster often leads to waking up in penal legion's barracks.

...has nobody else noticed that this is a map of the Old World?
>>
>>46219166
Absolutely. In fact, there are dozens of pristine garden worlds untouched by war, where life is easy and comfortable and the horrors of the galaxy are the stuff of campfire stories.

These worlds play the vital narrative role of giving the various threats facing the Imperium something beautiful to destroy.

Pleasant world's with peaceful times exist within the Imperium, we just don't see them because they add literally nothing to the story other than "Oh another peaceful planet. Ok"

It's canon that every Imperial world is touched by war. Doesn't mean that every planet is a battlefield, but each and every Imperial planet contributes to the Imperial war machine, be it with men or resources. So at least the government would be aware that the galaxy isn't all rainbows and flowers, even if they only supply mundane shit, like food for some other world that produces weaponry.
Making it a non Imperial would be pretty muh special snowflake planet though. Explaining how and why unaware Chaos cults, Daemons (because psykers) or Xenos aren't fucking it up without the Imperium of Man protecting it, how it's completely self reliant and how it somehow avoided every other problem human planets face in 40k.

>>46219689
>>the cruelest and most bloody regime imaginable.
Except human planets under Chaos Space Marine, Ork, Necron, Dark Eldar, Daemon or any other fucked up Xeno race that takes slaves control is worse than the Imperium in every regard.

>What are the Tau
>>
>>46220866

Yeah, unless something political is happening, All a mild world is, is just another cog in the Imperium. Just a thing doing the thing that is expected of it, and in return is allowed to just go along doing it's thing, presumably untill a fuckup down the line fucks them over.

yes, gotta love future NorthKorea

But anon, according to the current main rulebook, there are bright spots
>>
>>46223652
THere could be some isolated by a combination ofwarpstorms with an 'eye' in the center, making it relativly calm and not that juicy. But that would only last a few thousand years or so before some faction or another takes notice of this very interesting little pocket, or the storms abate, or the storms intensify and swallow the calm eye, or somthing else along those lines of fuckening.
