Fun decks edition.

Currently running Aluren combo because it's a ton of fun and really well positioned to destroy modern kiddies who think eldrazi is hot shit.

What's the best way to build this such that I can jam 3 force into the maindeck?

Im torn between buying into grixis delver and BUG Delver. Which should I buy into?

MUD Stax & Manaless Dredge reporting in. All's well in holding off the Eldrazi Menace. Also fun is subjective and I don't want you to have any.

>Aluren combo
Do you mean to imply there is a non-combo Aluren deck?
>>
>>46199268
How do you combat Eldrazi? I got destroyed by t2 Endbringers backed by Faerie Macabres post-sideboard at last tournie.
>>
>>46197390
BUG Delver, and then transition it eventually into shardless BUG
>>
Just got my first decent underground sea for 220, did I do all right? Pretty excited to finally have a legit fetch target in my deck now.
>>
Can I have some opinions on my Tezzerator list? I haven't played it much but I did well against a miracles deck, beat and lost to storm once each and lost to a 12post dark depths deck. I should probably get some wastelands, maybe add another SotM and I guess remove a wurmcoil, although I like having a big lategame creature.

If I wanted value, I'd play Aluren. BUG delver may not have value, but it gets some insane tempo plays. Turn 1 usea deathrite, turn 2 waste you hymn you is just unbeatable
>>
>>46199299
Aluren can play out as just a grindy value deck. So I guess it makes sense a bit. I've had people concede to just casting a shardless agent every single turn off a cavern harpy.

Current BUG Delver build:

4 deathrite
4 delver
4 goyf
2 bob
1 vendlilion clique

4 brainstorm
4 ponder
4 hymn to tourach
4 force of will
4 daze
4 abrupt decay
1 disfigure
1 dismember

9 fetches
4 underground sea
1 bayou
1 trop
4 wasteland

Right now I'm on the fence about the creature base. 2 bob 1 clique seems good against combo or control, but the only combo player I regularly face plays belcher and most people play aggro or midrange. I was thinking of going -2 bob -1 clique +2 tombstalker +1 sylvan library. How does that sound?
>>
>>46199535
Sweet, stock list or spicy tech DD?
>>
>>46201155
Fair points.

Anybody Elves here? I seem to brick when going off. I draw 2-3 lands and it sucks. Is it bad luck or bad playing.
>>
>>46202051
Elves is pretty skill intensive, so I'm inclined to say play mistakes. Things like when/how to fire off GSZ is usually the big thing. It's the green brainstorm in my opinion. Other things like playing to many creatures before the glimpse, or not playing enough and getting choked on mana also factor in.

Or you're playing fine and getting unlucky.

There are a lot of 4 color decks, but most people don't go 5 color because the card pool is deep enough that you can find the cards you need in your colors without making your mana really wonky

5c Waterfalls, splashing black for Deathrite and white for a Stoneforge package.

Actually, though, there really aren't any great 5c decks in the format. No reason to lose that hard to Waste/Moon. Technically Dredge can cast spells in any color, but I don't think it usually play anything that costs W.

Mostly stock grixis list. I've been testing a couple saucy one-ofs, night's whisper , lim-dul's vault. I like nights whisper, but honestly the list is pretty tight. Have been considering trying a chant-based list since they have better combo matchups but the manabase feels real shaky.

Lim-dul's Vault is great, to an extent. I love it when it all comes together, hate it when everything goes to shit. In my experience, it's almost always one of both extremes.

High tide calling in
I just played 4 hours against manaless dredge and hypergenesis. 85% winrate against hypergenesis. about 50% against dredge, but without my full sideboard (ravenous trap).
>>
>>46208229
I'm never sure if Ravenous Trap is a criminally underplayed card, or if it's justifiably ignored.

Also, playing against Dredge is a game of sideboards anyways, so those rates mean nothing without it.

nice secret tech
>>
I recently helped some friends get into Magic. We're just playing casually right now, so I suppose we'd fit into the Legacy format. Does anybody have any cheap decks to build or archetypes to brew?

I have decks that they can all use, but I'm looking to expand the types of decks that we can use to play with and expose them to styles beyond just Tribal, since that's been the easiest route for building a deck and learning about synergies.

Or am I in the wrong thread.
>>
>>46211093

>>46211093

Nah, Elves and Goblins are mainstay Legacy decks with numerous different builds. Goblins is significantly cheaper.

The thing I find about Legacy decks is that you can just make a few sub-optimal land choices and as long as you aren't worried about going to a Grand Prix, you'll still have a solid deck that's pretty slick.

>>
>>46211185
>>46211353
>>46211185
>>46211353
What I mean to ask is, what are some archetypes to use beyond tribal. I want to get the group away from tribal (since we used it primarily as an easy way to teach synergy, effects, etc without getting too crazy). There's no cards that are off limits, just whatever is in budget.

Right now I can do Odyssey block based Madness in any color, Black Weenie/Devotion, multiple iterations of Big Red, Sligh, Astral Slide, Discard, and some other things. I just haven't played in a long time and don't know what other mechanics would be cheap/fun to build off of.

>>46211050
This is my secret tech for death shadow combo too. Has a real purpose in some matches, and let's you shock yourself for shadow in others.

All I can say is fuck Miracles. Fucking screwed me out of top 8 for a dual lands or power. Only deck I can stand playing against. I'd rather face fucking storm or reanimator, at least I have a fucking sideboard plan against them. You can't fucking side against MIracles because they can just fucking play around so easily. OH YOU WANTED TO PLAY CREATURES. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA

Get gud scrub. Fuck Miracles. Until a terminus ban there is literally no reason to play any 'aggro' other than Elves as the second you hit Miracles they auto win. Don't give some bullshit about D&T having a '50/50' matchup against them. That is an outright lie, a single top resolved and 1 Terminus and they have it in the bag and you fucking know it. Fuck this deck. I'd even fucking play Omnitell as at least it has some consistency issues.

Yes i'm mad I got screwed out of Top 8 by MIracles. Go 5 and 1, 7th round Miracles and get fucked and loose out top 8. Yes there were moxes to win.
>>
>>46210064
It's absolute shit. 4 flying damage a turn starting on turn 3... versus turning Delver and Avenger into 6 flying damage a turn.

This card guarantees other decks will be able to count to 20 faster than you, and you'll fold even harder to infect.
>>
>>46218564
You need to go back to Modern
>>
>>46218564
All aboard the whambulence.

If you want to beat on miracles, there's great shit in every color. If getting wrathed is making you cry, try playing standard
>>
>>46218564
Then you play around the Terminus, don't commit more than 2 threats to the board.
>>
>>46221783

>>
Who else here /allspells/
>>
>>46224535
>Death and taxes beats miracles all the time
I usually do beat miracles with D&T, but that doesn't mean I don't acknowledged that terminus is still really good vs death and taxes.
The spell is just flat good vs creatures in general.
>>
>>46224704
I played no-land belcher for a while, does that count?
>>
>>46221772
Do describe what this 'shit' is. Pro tip, you can't.

>>46221783
Then you are Jace bait or get overwhelmed by Mentor.

I seriously don't think any of you saying go back to Modern actually play creature decks. It is incredibly hard to fight though a properly played Miracles, playing around Terminus or not. You are literally playing into their hands one way or the other.

>>46224858
He gets it.
>>
>>46218564
Goblins stomps miracles like 80/20
>>
>>46224704
I play high tide. Supreme leader of the pure color that is blue. Standing yet untainted by the corruption that is summon spells.
>>
>>46225229
White: mother of runes, councils judgement
Black: hymn to tourach, dark confidant
Green: krosan grip. Green suns for teeg.
Red: sulfuric vortex
Blue: clique, cheap counters

That's just monocolor ideas

>>46224858
Wrath effects are good against creature decks. This hasn't been problematic for 20+ years. It still isn't.
>>
>>46226481
Goblins is a lot faster than DnT, it's not impossible to overwhelm Miracles, just not when you're at the more disruptiion-oriented plan DnT has.
>>
>>46226804
>White: mother of runes, councils judgement
Neither of those are really all that good vs miracles? Cataclysm and Armageddon are actual things that beat on miracles, mom and council's are just mediocre cards against it. >spending 3 mana to maybe destroy counterbalance is beating on miracles
Seriously what?
>Black: hymn to tourach, dark confidant
A bit better, still not great by any means, I'd say cabal therapy is stronger than either of those if you have a deck that supports it.
>krosan grip
>1 for 1s with tempo loss is an advantage
No. Teeg is fine.
>Wrath effects are good against creature decks. This hasn't been problematic for 20+ years. It still isn't.
I don't think it is fair to compare terminus to an average wrath (almost any effect could be broken if costed cheaply enough), but OK, I never actually said it was problematic.
>>
>>46227200
Mom means they have terminus or fire off multiple removal spells. I don't play white decks, I'm just guessing.

My point is "omg miracles OP" is the cry of bad players who don't know how to combat that strategy.

Therapy is better in combo, but if I'm playing a fair deck I'm not terribly concerned about any one of their cards. I'd rather grind them down on resources with hymn because the deck generally lacks cards advantage, short of predict builds.

K grip also takes out top, which makes terminus much harder for to miracle out
>>
>>46226808
DnT can't rebuild its hand like goblins does, barring connecting with SoFI. But that requires a decent threat to be hitting in the first place.
>>
>>46227698
Yes, which is why Goblins is much better suited for the matchup. Goblin Ringleader is a beast.

Anon should just learn to accept that some decks just have awful matchups. Winning a tournament is partly dodging those matchups.

Izzet delver reporting in. Thinking of switching to grixis.
>>
>>46232922
At first I would have disagreed, but the more I've played the matchup the better it seems. Miracles with Blood Moon/moat/Peacekeeper has the ability to crush it. It has a lot to do with the version of miracles, but its a control deck so its to be expected.

My analysis is that the deck did well initially because the rest of the format wasnt prepared for it, but now that people are prepared for it the deck gets way worse.

Sorry, I thought you were playing against a bunch of Death and Taxes. My fault. If you are against a bunch of midrange decks and some control try running a build similar to this:
4 Deathrite Shaman
4 Delver of Secrets
3 Tarmogoyf
2 Vendilion Clique
2 Tombstalker

4 Brainstorm
3 Ponder
4 Daze
4 Force of Will
4 Hymn to Tourach
4 Abrupt Decay
2 Liliana of the Veil

4 Underground Sea
2 Bayou
1 Tropical Island
1 Polluted Delta
4 Misty Rainforest
4 Verdant Catacombs
4 Wasteland
>>
>>46235822
Im playing against a couple midrange decks like Dega Mentor, RUG delver, a lot of elves, Painter, eldrazi stompy and some lands-style decks

That list looks like a pretty solid BUG midrange deck, but I like being able to tempo out against other midrange decks rather than try to go big. That deck also just sounds like delver never flipping.

I have 1 LotV main 1 sideboard. having more cheap removal in the maindeck has saved my ass against elves a lot. I dont like having to rely on all 2-mana removal, it does get pretty awkward.

Tonight I went 2-0 against 2 miracles players, 1-0 against elves and 1-0 against Dega Midrange then spilt top 4 with 2 elves players and painter.

4 Deathrite Shaman
4 Delver of Secrets
4 Tarmogoyf
2 Tombstalker

4 Brainstorm
4 Ponder
4 Daze
4 Force of Will
4 Hymn to Tourach
4 Abrupt Decay
1 Dismember
1 Disfigure
1 Liliana of the Veil

4 Underground Sea
1 Bayou
1 Tropical Island
3 Polluted Delta
3 Misty Rainforest
3 Verdant Catacombs
4 Wasteland

SB:
1 Disfigure
1 Dismember
1 Engineered Plague
1 Murderous Cut
1 Darkblast
2 Golgari Charm
1 Pithing Needle
1 Sylvan Library
2 thoughtseize
1 Liliana of the Veil
1 Surgical Extraction
1 Flusterstorm
1 Grafdiggers cage

I probably want to go -1 murderous cut -1 flusterstorm +2 Spell pierce SB
>>
>>46235692
Not that guy but here is my opinion. I think these are the absolute must adds to the deck.
4 1 mana target discard
4 smallpox
3-4 abrupt decay
3-4 lilliana of the veil

3-4 hymn to tourach
3 loam
3-4 entomb
3-4 crop rotation
1-2 ravens crime
1 nether spirit

Some amount of these guys:
Wasteland
Mishras factory
Tabernacle
Bojuka bog
Dark depths
Thespians stage
Cabal pit
Actual gb mana base (fetch basics bayou)

After that I think the rest is up to play style, alternatives ranges from more graveyard, creatures, lands and different removal.
Remember to take this with a grain of salt. I am a BUG Delver player.

Seems decent I would just really recommend to drop the dark rituals and get entombs :) and thespian depths combo. You would be surprised how entombing for Nether Spirit early will usually win you the game.
>>
>>46235692
The reason mono black Pox runs dark rituals is to be able to play the 4cmc enchantments like Nether void and abyss. I don't think they're needed in the Loam Pox variant but you should test and give feedback :D
>>
>>46236105
Well I'm the guy he was referring to and yeah I agree. You basically broke down the way I built my deck after playing mono black Pox for more than a year I really realized I needed crop rotation and a way to close out the game. Tabernacle is really expensive :c but hopefully one day I may.
>>
>>46236240
There is a really good reason for why Tabernacle is that expensive. It's just such a good card. It really helps out with a lot of the problem cards that the deck needs to deal with.
>>46236072
I think that Engineered Plague isn't needed as well since no one is playing goblins in your meta. I think Nihil Spellbomb or Engineered Explosives is really strong against Miracles. They get you out of awkward situations and also deals with Blood Moon if they play it. Blood Moon in my experience is either you counter it, have lethal next turn or lose.

A friend of mine is playing bug delver but is considering to go shardless bug. Have you tried the varient?
>>
>>46236306
Yep my store allows four proxies so I do get to play with it and it literally wins games just by itself.
>>
>>46236312
In my opinion, shardless doesn't feel right to me. The whole cascade into visions is cool and all but most times it feels like I draw dead. Also, it has worse matchups against some of the more popular decks in the format such as Miracles and Lands. I like the tempo play style and feeling that BUG Delver delivers with Turn 1 USea and Deathrite into Turn 2 Wasteland and Hymn. The look on players faces as they realize their gameplan is just decimated is too good.
>>
>>46236312
Not that guy, but I've played both. They're very different beasts. Shardless is basically blue jund. It's a strong midrange deck that trys to win through card advantage.

BUG Delver is slow delver, its able to out tempo people sometimes, but generally just presents a good clock and has enough disruption to be able to take down anything.

Shardless has more matchups that are very slanted against you, but more matchups that are greatly in your favor. BUG delver has a lot of even matchups. I play BUG delver because it has good game against almost anything, and you'll get a lot of free wins off of wasteland/hymn in addition to the wins you get by just playing well.
>>
>>46236851
Also, while both decks have weak mana, it's way more relevant to Shardless, where you plan on casting a bunch of 3-4 drops. Being stuck on 2 will kill you as Shardless, and is a pretty good place to be as delver.

Plague is great against elves. Why do you want Nihil spellbomb against miracles?

I've personally been testing Loam Pox with Dark Ritual and found that its an amazing card to have in the opening hand but awful to topdeck once you have a lock going down. Especially in loam pox a t1 Liliana can fuck up decks but I think I might drop it for 2 entombs and 2 Crop rotations. I have a tabernacle so I'm gonna put that in, not sure what to take out though.
Any other suggestions? Pox is pretty much may favorite legacy deck

You could replace the rituals with mox diamond, has great synergy with loam and turn one hymn/sinkhole can be devastating

Anyone else getting fucked trying to buy cards from SCG and other online vendors?
>>
>>46240071
I bought candelabras off of ebay and they seem legit. PLus the guy has like 100 000 sales or something. Anyway, pictures like that make me think thrice every time I want to buy something online. Especially a dual.

Hello legacy general!
Anyways, I've been thinking about building Nic fit for a while and was thinking about a list with collective voyage, anyone tried it? What's peoples opinion on prime time in the deck? It sure as hell is value, but is it too slow? What colors seem to work the best? I was thinking jund or naya because I'm too poor for U duals.
Nic fit looks fun because valuetown gets me hard
Thanks for your time!

I usually buy through amazon. And I've never had any real issues with fakes. I have a set of chinaman tundras and volcanics so it's easy to compare shit.
>>
>>46240650
Play a deck you find interesting, not one that you think is the best win for money you can pay. Nic fit is a tier 1.5 I would say.

Blue is the color to beat in legacy, if you can play blue, you will most likely be better off running blue.
>>
>>46237267
Oh totally forgot about that. Good call. I was thinking Nihil against dredge and lands.
>>46237764
I would think Mox Diamond is better than Dark Ritual in this sort of deck.
>>
>>46237764
Yes (Pox player here) add entombs and crop rotation preferably.
>>
>>46237764
Mox diamond is only good when dark Ritual is good. Aka opening hand. So yeah trust me breh get entombs and you'll be a happy fellow

someone buy me lilianas pls

Who worldgorger in here?

>tfw you have absolutely no way to deal with GY hate
>>
>>46240543
I bought that from a TCG vendor. Getting returns is a bitch. Someone at my LGS bought a set of LEDs from SCG, one was fake and I guess the onus was on him to prove that they were at fault. Be really careful buying cards today, I'm only going to buy in person from now on
>>
>>46240650
Naya doesn't seem good, you need to be base GB for cabal therapy/explorer. Junk or jund are my go to Nic Fit colors. Punishing fire is a powerful engine, but junk has some really powerful creatures like Sigarda.

Prime time is pretty good if you go really big or want to run manlands. Collective voyage could be really good, but you need to make sure your deck has enough gas in it.

Nic Fit is a real brewers deck, throw together a list and try it out.

You can always just get a chargeback from your credit card if something like this happens. In cases of counterfeit goods they pretty much don't even ask questions.

I made the mistake of using my debit card. Never do that when buying cards apparently
