Is there system better than Mutants and Masterminds for a supers game? I wanna run a supers game, but it seems really overwhelming with all the stuff in it
>>
>>46195121
How about Wild Talents 2?
Or GURPS Supers?
>>
>>46195157
Wait, you're overwhelmed? Forget I ever mentioned GURPS.

Marvel Heroic Roleplaying, if you have more than a five-minute attention span and bother to learn the rules.

HERO is a god-tier system but probably not what OP wants.

He wants to play Marvel FASERIP. Abandoned system but with a ton of resources and easily found. Super simple if a bit old school.

>>46195121
I just want to watch that fight.

OP here, I'll check these out. Thanks, guys.
>>
>>46195778
No problem. If you are scared of complexity FASERIP is your best bet. Savage Worlds I have not played but I am told it is simple as well.

Mutants and Masterminds is d20/ Pathfinder/D&D3.5 with a saving throw instead of hit points.

No idea what >>46195190 is like. It has its devotees but it never got traction.

Wild Talents is right out.

GURPS and HERO are both godlike, but GURPS excels at low end Punisher stuff while everything above (and below) belongs to HERO. Basic mechanics for both are easy, but the options can be confusing. Character building is complicated but lets you do anything.

Start with FASERIP. Superheroes are not hard. It is just hitting the Mole Master with a bus instead of an orc with a longsword.

Supers are going to be sorta overwhelming pretty often due to sheer amount of variety inherent in concept.

Marvel Heroic has everything very simple on the base (you just grab vague fluff traits and assign a die size to them, then use that die whenever you vaguely involve that trait), but special effects get harder, for example.

>Mutants and Masterminds is d20/ Pathfinder/D&D3.5 with a saving throw instead of hit points.
And none of the class and level system based bullshittery. You just pointbuy.
(there IS a level that caps your stats, but it's really not comparable to D&D's. Increasing it is a minor thing really.)
>>
>>46195121
If you want that general paradigm of system it's the best there is, but you can do anything in FATE, which is great if you like narrativism.
>>
OP here again. I'm sure I could learn Mutants and Masterminds, but I was just worried about my players since they're all autistic and I usually have to spoonfeed them about how a system works.

M&M has support for that: quickstart lets you generate characters by picking (or RNGing) from pre-made blocks that get you a full statted up starting character.
>>
>>46196433
Oops forgot half a post:
so after getting them quickie characters, you can just explain what each guy's specific abilities do and just roll with it.

Coolio.

I really miss that game. It wasn't without it's flaws but it was one of the few capeshit games around which was actually engaging.
>>
>>46196400
>>46196896
What's the game?
>>
>>46195975
GURPS can also do high-end Lensman-grade nuttery happily, it just takes a million years to generate a 1000-point character if you don't abuse templates.
>>
>>46195121
Fate, or better yet FAE, isn't a bad choice.
>>
What about the two supers *World game, Worlds in Peril and Masks?
>>
>>46197153
Venture City Stories/Powers super system got added to OGL content in the kickstarter, it's been licensed now and may appear on the super-fan maintained SRD site soon.
To that guy who was lamenting missing out on the Fate More kickstarter last time I mentioned VCS, I think you can still get stuff through Backerkit.
>>
>>46196951
City of Heroes/Villains. I'm surprised you don't know if it, anon.
>>
>>46197606
Oh, that game that doesn't exist.
>>
>>46197613
It was nice even if just to get away from "Everquest clone" in the MMO space.

Me, I still wish Tabula Rasa hadn't died how it had, and that it'd had more than what felt like 3 players online when it WAS alive

>make CoH character for a bit of messing around

>put game down for a little while

I have heard of it, but not played so I didn't recognize the guy that was posted.
>>
Damn, why do superhero system threads never last on tg?
>>
I second Marvel Heroic. It's really good system for epic and fluid action.

I'm interested in this as well.

Fuck off virt

Was in a Savage Worlds supers game, it was fun.
The only downside is it has problems with modelling anything beyond, for example, the strength to lift 1000lbs. Although the latest Supers book has options for varying the power level and I'm not sure how much those help, so your mileage may vary.

Did anybody try out ICONS? I heard about it on podcast I follow, but the game basing itself on random chargen (with pointbuy as an afterthought) seems pretty silly nowadays.
>>
>>46203595
Never heard of it.

It's on pay what you want on drivethru
http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/81475/ICONS-Superpowered-Roleplaying

>during random rolled chargen, Immortality takes two slots for powers
>however, like in true comic books, nobody stays dead for longer than a plot segment anyway, rendering immortality as a power absolutely pointless
Like really, they outright tell you to just bring them back with whatever handwave.
Also if you do point buy, immortality suddenly becomes cheap because it doesn't have any level grading in it, just "you come back from the dead"

Also that's some of the blatantest expies on the cover there.
They have some updated edition up though, I kinda wonder if shit got better, but I ain't throwing money up.

M&M is a lot better with a hitpoint conversion in my opinion

My gut says your opinion is dogshit, but I'm curious to hear as to why you'd have such an insane opinion.

uhhh

How about Urban Heroes?
