For an Orc character, what classes actually work well for them? Any of the Path of War classes?

Real cute m8 and mind control is the most evil kind of ability, Bards should be any nongood
>>
>>46178753
Orcs should go to their DM and ask to houserule that they only get penalties to two chosen mental stats, not ALL of them. It inflicts a retardation stereotype and makes all the orc tribes' shamans a laughingstock.
>>
>>46178640
I think Crossbow still isn't very good in that system. Readied action to -maybe- damage and stop the opponent on the condition that they move is kind of worse than just doing guaranteed damage before they have the chance to move.

Crossbows would still only see use by things like wizards who have run out of spells, or people in the surprise round on ambush, or NPCs designed to guard places.

Archery.

Orcs should only get a penalty to one chosen mental stat, with two they're still a net behind other races.

>No alignment restriction for any class

Barbarian
>DR 1/- starts at level 3. Rage goes up to +6/+6 at 7th level
Bard:
>Inspire Courage increased by 1
Cleric
>Pick any domains you want and make up a god, no one cares about Golarion.
Druid
>Bears are not Small, what the fuck man.
Fighter
>4+Int skills, choose a good save, choose your own damage attribute to use for basic attacks. Prepare all your combat feats every morning.
Paladin
>Take a hit for any close ally as an immediate action. Get Bard spell progression of the Paladin list and 2 domain lists.
Ranger
>Gain Bard progression casting. 5th-6th level spells are all non-elemental Druid spells of the same level. Favored Enemy bonuses scale in +3 increments. Gains all creature type knowledges in-class. Can make any knowledge-check-identified creature a Favored Enemy as a move action.
Rogue
>Roll up to your level in different skill checks at the start of the day, and anytime you make that check later (however many times you want) you can choose to use the morning roll or roll manually. Can swift-activate a 1-round Greater Invisibility with 2 round breaks, or consecutively if you don't mind becoming fatigued/exhausted.
Sorcerer
>Move your whole spells known chart up by 1 level. Just put a "1" directly above every "3" on the Spells Per Day chart.
Wizard
>You don't get a good Will Save. Your bonus feats must Spell Mastery, a Discovery or [Reserve] feats (from Complete Mage). Not item creation or metamagic.Non-specialists gain 1 bonus spell of their highest level, like Elven Generalists used to get.
Monk
>Cannot take hit point damage unless prevented from moving.
>>
>>46178852
The Overwatch Style chain is being recommended for a reason (creating relative lockdown scenarios as a result), but yes it's primarily for making crossbow standoffs actually work. What I didn't want to do was make them win the damage pissing contest with styles that focus on them; Bows and THF can keep their crowns as damage kings. The objective was only to create niches and scenarios where it is not *always* better to go that route. They don't have to be as good since they require different levels of proficiency and investment to work at their new jobs.

>>46179421
Counters. Usually they're set up to allow you to negate the effect before it even occurs, though there's a few that allow you to suppress or remove conditions after the fact.

There's also the feat Riven Hourglass Rewind, which allows you to suppress ongoing conditions by expending maneuvers.

Also worth noting, by RAW, nauseated allows only move actions, so by the strictest reading you can do literally nothing except move while nauseated. Not even free actions.
>>
>>46179440
>dozens of characters, builds, and concepts I want to try
>I will play all of them in a half-assed setting with a self-railroading party that kills any kind of non-combat, non-plot advancing, or even quasi-amoral behavior.
>>
>>46179421

Scarlet Throne has Sanguine Perfection, which allows you to suppress negative conditions for a number of rounds equal to your initiation modifier. If the condition's duration would end in that time, you remove it instantly.

The rules explicitly stating so, because both the abilities and base chassis of the UC Monk is almost totally different than the Core Monk.

As far as I'm aware, the only Monk archetypes that are compatible are Hamatula Master and the new ones from Ultimate Intrigue.
Also maaaaybe MoMS, but that's kinda iffy both RAW and RAI.

I think some anon made an unfinished homebrew conversion doc for UC Archetypes. Want me to see if I can find it?
>>
>>46179824
Four, I think, there's a monk of the mantis, the chakra monk from occult something, and the two from UI
>>
>>46179749
That's just what happens when you switch from static class features to a select-a-power system. Not that hard to reverse-engineer the old archetypes to fit, but to make that official would require them all to get reprinted.
>>
>>46179749
Fuck weebs, that's why
>>
>>46179824
Officially no archetype printed before Unchained Pathfinder works with Unchained Monk, it says so in the book.
>>
>>46179913
That is what I said
>>
>>46179913
That's because the archetypes that do work with UMonk are from splatbooks, which the core line devs prefer to pretend don't exist because they don't have direct control over what goes in them.
>>
Okay, I'm aware of the bloodforge stuff being worked out with weapons, but are there any mundance enhancements for weapons, and what about special non-magical items?

I'm considering adopting the old 'It's an MMO' trapping purely to justify running a game for folks where GMs and players can rotate and play a new concept every couple of sessions, for those of us with tabletop alt-itis.

"I figured we'd need a tank for the raid, so I rolled up a Zwei Sent, guys"
>>
>>46180058
Well the Halfling and her Wolf or whatever equally sized mount will probably be sleeping in the same tent but I don't plan to MENTION that sort of thing.
>>
>>46179996

Eh, not particularly, I don't think. Still, they're both fun classes-shouldn't be too hard to make something enjoyable and useful, unless your party is full of assholes who exclusively pick t1s and play them to invalidate other characters at every opportunity.
>>
>>46180027
Construct Rider. Robo wolf.
>>
>>46180082
The only issue I'd have with that is the pain it is of creating a new character. Though, I do like the final fantasy approach of being able to have every class on the same character.

Well, you aren't required to reroll if you're happy with what you're playing.

I just want a game with a premise that's more friendly to me when I decide halfway through a campaign that I'd rather be playing something different. It always feels awkward to try and write out or suicide a character just to have an excuse to play a new one.
>>
>>46180082
That could be fun, though it feels like it would lose some of the fun of the character if it's playing a character in a game, when playing your character... in the game. Unless it's like one of those silly anime hyperrealistic MMOs, which could be fun.

Though, if it gave me a chance to try that retarded Synthesist|Psyarm build, or even just DSP-anything? I'd be down for that.
>>
>>46180283
The hell is going on in that picture.
>>
>>46180302
The basic idea I had is that everyone would be a 'player' on the MMO, so you'd have a consistent characterization to work with 'behind the screen' so to speak. But since it's an MMO, there's an easy excuse for 'oh I decided to respec'.

And yeah obviously it's an MMO as interpreted by anime, and it'd definitely be DSP friendly - one of my ideas was that the various Martial Traditions could literally be, like, NPC factions in the game, the way lots of games have Rep systems/daily quests for groups.
>>
>>46180322
Well, you know how ships would have figureheads of naked women and such?

And I mean, you wouldn't expect the constructcrafter business to be THAT different from shipbuilding, but since the final product's running on magic instead of physics, there's a lot more room for expression...
>>
>>46180165

>>
>>46180283
Thx for image, reported anyway though sorry senpai

>>46180403
Yeah, it's an alchemist archetype. It's only really worth it if you like the idea of riding a customizable robot. Which I do, at least.
>>
>>46180932
I like the Idea but I don't know if I'm ready for Alchemist, And I think we really need a good frontliner. Which I don't know if Alchemist can do.
>>
>>46180952
Beastmorph Alchemist is excellent as a frontliner
>>
Oi, DSP lads.
When's the playtest on your system?
>>
>>46180952
The best way to get better at the game is to dive into the deep end. And yes, alchemist can do frontliner stuff quite well thanks to mutagen and related discoveries.
>>
Zweihander warder/harbinger gestalt y/n?
>>
>>46181054
Meh. If you just use harbinger to access new disciplines and become Int-SAD, it can work okay, but I'd recommend you be absolutely sure which disciplines/maneuvers you want.
>>
>>46180952
Alchemist can absolutely be a frontliner. Mutagen (which you can pick up again with a discovery after swapping it out) is basically turning yourself into Mr. Hyde/Hulk Jr.

Plus there's vivisectionist alchemist, which swaps bombs for full sneak attack progression, which goes great with having a pet, since you can flank everything.
>>
>>46180999
>>46181014

Well, Construct Rider specifically prohibits the alchemist from getting mutagen, even as a discovery.
>>
>>46181086
True, but mounted combat is still great for frontlining, since you stop worrying about armor slowing you and you can dual-wield lances. Especially with Spirited Charge. You'll still shit out damage by the bucketload.
>>
>>46181054
Psion//Warder or harbinger may work better. That way you can use your manifesting for buffs or as needed when they're necessary.
>>
Looking through Ultimate Psionics again, seriously who thought that that Noral race was a good idea? It's like somebody tried to make the trill from Star Trek but decided "hey, instead of a hot chick, I'll make the default look for this race that ugly advisor guy for Jabba the Hutt! Brilliant!"

Need some help with planning RP for a character, /pfg/. How would you model the activities of a person who intentionally spreads toxic philosophies?

My group uses the Unchained background skills, which gives me access to Artistry (Philosophy), whose basic function is essentially the same as Perform.

My question is more in how you'd portray someone who earns money by means of philosophy in a D&D setting. I'm thinking something along the lines of spending time in salons or schools, debating with intellectuals and then earning money by being a good enough debater that they want you to write down your ideas for them to read later? Or would some kind of "I'll bet you a silver you can't convince me" be more likely?
>>
>>46181295

Using the phrase "kender aren't completely awful" is a quick way to lose friends and bring shame upon your household, regardless of the context.
>>

How do people earn money by means of philosophy in a non-D&D setting?

In all seriousness, I think your best bet is to find some rich, stupid patrons who need you to provide them with contentious opinions so they can sound smart at social functions.
>>
>>46180347
This is relevant to my interests, but I have an important question: Will the MMO have a "main story" and/or waifus?? If yes, will it take the modern MMO route of "every player is the main character of their own playthrough" or sticking to the Anime open-world interpretation?
>>
>>46181312
Do some research on the Greek philosophers. They weren't exactly intellectual paragons like people think they were. They were thinkers, true, but they also fought, argued, and acted like dicks with amazing frequency. It was Plato, I think, that used to be an actual wrestler and occasionally fought people who disagreed with him. I'm not entirely sure that's the right name, but I know there was a guy like that. Diogenes of Sinope also made a point of being frequently rude and sarcastic.
>>
>>46181404
The basic idea I had was that it was in sort of the hybrid style of most MMOs these days - an open world for social interaction and stuff, but plot events and dungeons and stuff being instances with plot-lines that focus on the characters. Sort of Guild Wars-esque. The NPCs are basically 'actors' who take up the appropriate roles in the plot whenever an event starts but also might just be found out in the world whenever the party isn't dungeon crawling.

Sounds like something ripe for hilarious misunderstandings and embarrassment-maybe they run into their pastor at the library, or end up losing the books and having to replace them, or accidentally getting pages stuck together and attempting to pull off bizarre half-maneuvers that lead to someone with a bad sprain possibly in a very intimate area.
>>
>>46182351
Sure, I'm pretty sure those are normal. Adventurers have sex drives like everyone else, and with all the stress and magic, more motive and ways to indulge it. Generally I just fade to black it or try to work out how some particularly strange thing might be achieved.

For example, after the whole tears to wine thing got dragged into sexual fluids by /pfg/ and pretty much everyone who read it, desu, someone wanted to try and make it into a business. The logistics problem is mildly interesting, and the scandal if anyone ever found out the intellect-boosting mead someone sold by the barrelful was transmuted jizz is worth a good laugh.

It does risk accidentally running into the players' magical realm, though. I try to avoid mine, since the point is to make it not ERP or focus on the lewd stuff.

I really like Log Horizon because it avoids the "generic self-insert is the best ever" trend of the other MMO anime.

Saulot created a line of vampires that displayed a third eye thanks to one of their powers. Eventually they all got accused of being demon worshipers and mostly wiped out. Of course Saulot is the one that took over the body of the one and then accused them of being demon worshipers, and likely made the baali, which were vampires with powers to consort with demons. Probably because he got bored of both, so he had them killed off and rerolled a mage vampire.

For me I usually look at some of the summoning feats for Druid and make them more sane. Why do the druids need to give up augment summoning to give a template again? Why cant they take the feat that gives them access to unicorns and treants?

It's just poor design in terms of its actual effect on gameplay. If they can pump their saves and CMD they can do whatever they want anywhere. It creates situations where the party just sends in the monk alone because he is at no risk, even if he's super slow at getting it done - like an even MORE boring "we starve them out" solution because you still have to roll the dice like 40 times solo. Also it makes a lot of existing features into non-features, like AC bonus and Evasion.

Playing with the idea of a Magus Eldritch Scion into Dragon Disciple, but the way the Bloodrager and Sorcerer bloodlines stack (or rather don't) make it a bit awkward. Assuming I could convince my GM to have DD's Blood of Dragons count for Bloodrager levels instead of Sorcerer, would this be a decent build?

Also this build would probably be used in an ongoing campaign, so it would start at lower levels and progress throughout the game.

It is different. Things go through both private and public playtest. If the private playtesting is already started/completed, then that's an entire set of work that needs doing that's already finished. What we had that was already ready or partially vetted receives priority over newly incoming material.

Space had to be assigned to Prestige Classes, space had already been set aside for archetypes. What you see is only part of the process involved in writing a book.

You seem to be under the impression that we are going to, or already have, abandoned the prospect in its entirety. This is not the case. Discussions were had, decisions were made and Ssalarn, who wrote the archetype, was involved in them. The decision was to cut the Mirrored Soul because of concerns that it would need more playtesting and vetting than we felt we had time to perform. As such, we decided not to include the archetype and you'll notice that there really was no additional feedback given on the archetype shortly after it was proposed.

As I said in the initial post where you accused me of being a liar, we haven't entirely abandoned the Mirror Soul. There are a lot of options we were exploring that couldn't be fit into PoW:E and we've always intended to continue the product line. Picking fights over it isn't going to make that a more appealing prospect though.

Whilst I prefer to keep my criticisms constructive, we did repeatedly give issue to your view of balance during POW:E's playtest.

Let's not forget how desperado has a bunch of rule caveats that are left out of the RAW, such as its limitation to core gunslinger deeds and inability to use scatter attacks with sea combat, as well as the fact that it's outright WEAKER than the SU equivalent, the gunsmoke mystic.

The fact that Piercing thunder, a discipline that has decent stances but nothing else, got NERFED after playtesting is a fucking joke.

Tempest gale still doesn't get at all useful until 7th, when it breaks the ranged combat rules entirely with it's nat-20 maneuver, a great choice for anyone with a piercing crossbow.

We offered advice, some of us had easy fixes for this shit back when they debuted and you paid no attention.

You blew us off and now you're salty that we're salty.

Oh, and whilst I'm on the subject: Landsknecht is still a fucking stupid name for an ein-hander prestige class.

If I have a psychic armory, is it legit to take Weapon Focus (panoply of blades)? Or would that be Weapon Focus (psychokinetic throw)?
>>
>>46185268
So are we just dropping the dimorphism aspect, or?

Maybe the genders go in different directions as they age. The males gain Str and lose Int, becoming dumb brutes that are used as mounts, manual labor, etc.

The females start taking Wis damage on a daily basis, and if they hit a certain breakpoint, the damage becomes permanent but their Charisma skyrockets and they gain magical abilities, making them into more of a living superweapon kinda deal that the kids and forever-kids have to handle carefully because they're still intelligent enough to run amok.

Fuck yeah Gunlance.

Yeah, Tempest Gale continuously disappoints at low levels. Too many of the weapon upgrades or other supports for maneuvers are limited to melee weapons, and the discipline overall feels as though it's being punished for "daring" to be mostly [EX].

As for Piercing Thunder, at least Solar Wind can claim some decent strikes by beam-splitting a XASER into multiple lines using Solar Reflection or the like. I haven't read Piercing in a while though; does it still have no way of getting your weapon back after using a strike that throws it? Because that's very, very damning.
