It's just some sprites and rulesets really. Not a complete rework. Anyway, the area was searched, no xenos were found, and the mission was deemed success.

There's also a reskin for the ship, though it looks a bit broken. It's quite easy to mod the game though, and I sacked all the soldiers with bad accuracy so thats why they hit.

There was some guy who said he would do it in C++. Probably from scratch using SDL.

I doubt that project will ever complete, as it is too massive a task for a one-man team (even dwarf fortress had two). However, if a suitable engine was found, it could be feasible for a small team of gentlebeards.
