Mouse Guard is a great RPG but it seems to require a great group, as the monty pythonesque shenanigans of ye old tabletop friends dont seem to fit well with the setting. Anyone ever run a god tier game of mouseguard?

I had a lot of fun with it when I did run with a bunch of super intense roleplayers, but the combat was just...frustrating and underwhelming. The GM ended the game after only like two sessions because he didn't want to run more combat and I don't really blame him.

This sums my experience with old WoD, to be honest. The roleplaying was fantastic with good roleplayers but combat was too frustating, and yet fundamental that it couldnt just be always avoided. So in the end we stop playing it.
