Being a "Cool Cyborg" isn't really something that exists in 40k. Technology is either crazy super advanced (rare, generally xenos related), or archaic and super clunky but dependable as all fuck.

Right. So imagine living in a world where machines aren't the scientific tools we know them as. In 40k, all technology is thought if as a gift from their machine god. To change it from the holy design is a sin. These guys venerate the omnissiah so deeply that they desire to replace their body parts with wire and steel to become closer to divinity, but they never change the tech. These guys are literally walking around with a surgery's worth of life support equipment inside and all over them, because making a more convenient form for the tech is heretical. That being said, they are neither frail nor shitty. Even with all the unnecessary bulk, they've modded themselves out well enough to simply not care about damage that would kill a regular human.

The rule of 40k is that for everything that isn't space marine tech, the more simplistic and clunky it looks, the more advanced it is. Power armor that looks like a beat up 1800's scuba diving suit is based on sturdier science and tech than pic related.
