The only major difference between the plastic and resin-augmented version is the hull design, and FW has used the Mars pattern (which is used by the full plastic Rhino and Predator) in the HH book as well. It's not as common as the Deimos patterns during the Heresy, but they're around. So you can use them without issue.

theres a tourney going on at my FLGS in a little over a month, im thinking of entering my Death Guard (its 40k but 30k is allowed), games are 1500 pts and limited to 3 turns
Because of this, and acknowledging that 30k doesn't do well against 40k at sub 2000 pts what would your advice build army wise be?
I figure that since turns are capped melee probably wont be that prevalent, and neither will fliers/deepstrikers/outflankers/etc, but this means that my own army will have some trouble closing the gap and making use of our special equipment, chemflamers/sythes/rad grenades.
Because of this im thinking about building towards a shoot/alpha strike list with lots of scoring dudes, either pride for sniper vets and some las-mortis dreads, reaping with rhino tac squads or creeping death with a couple big squads doing nothing but sitting on objectives in the open and hoping to outlast my opponent.

TS 1 - The Pursuit of Knowledge. Allows some units to deepstrike with shooting bonuses, upgrades to flame-type weaponry is forbidden.

TS 3 - Cybernetica Force. Cataphract robots in various FOC slots and as compulsory troops.
SW 1 - Business as Usual. FNP on troops because they're too dumb to notice that they are getting shredded by running head first into the enemy line.

The Sons of Horus have changed since their initial release.
Start by looking at long march on page 191 of book 6 it's a very good rite of war that could spark some ideas.
Secondly we have a new rule that will grant 1 extra bs when firing withing 12 inches with rapid fire or assault weapons.
Thirdly Justaerins are getting 2 wounds and a huge point discount.
Fourthly Dreadclaws are really under appreciated. They're a solidly tough unit that provides considerable maneuverability to it's occupants.
