Moar Book 4 goodies edition!

Here are some useful links,

books;
https://mega.nz/#F!M9dyDTrI!eNYCwqvg4iPWy_z-M0P9dw

Book 1 - Basic Rules and first wave of updated (from 1st edition of malifaux) models
Book 2 - Second wave of updated models
Book 3 - Campaign system and new M2E models

Through the Breach Fated Almanac - Basic rules for the RPG set in Malifaux
Through the Breach Fatemaster Almanac - GM stuff for the RPG

The Gremlin on the left must be their new master, however I have no idea about the female on the right.
>>
Now just to wait and see what exactly is the deal with The Other Side.

>I have no idea about the female on the right.
looks dead to me, I can see wings too. Resser Valkyrie confirmed
>>
So Gremlins were the sky pirates. Have to see how it plays with Sparks and the Survivors.
>>
>>46080142
So will we finally get the Gremlin/Arcanist or Outcast/Arcanist master?
>>
>>46081352
The resser crew was entirely living though. Titania (the neverborn master) was undead though, so maybe it's her or one of her crew?
>>
>>46081783
Or there might just be some non-thematic units in the book, too. Not every model definitely belongs to a specific crew.
>>
>>46081352
>>46081783
Reva (the Resser master) had no Flight. Titania had iirc. Not to mention the Resser master is Ht 3 on a 50 mm base.
>>
Any guild goodies?
>>
>>46082876
What was posted is that they are getting a reporter theme to their new master/crew. The master is also a scheme focused master.
>>
I heard Wyrd was livid about the spoilers.

I'd guess Titania on the right.
>>
People still play this game?
>>
>>46085436
Yep.

>just got back from visiting a friend
>bought and a bunch of miniature stuff

now i got metal leveticus, ramos, lady justice, sonnia along with plastic McCabe, lucius. holy hell now to buy the models to go with them and learn the game better. we played or rather bumbled through a 50 soulstone game from 7pm to 3 am. a lot of fun though i was sonnia getting smashed by Ophelia and it ended how you expected it would. sniped the pale rider in a turn and did 8 damage to sonnia easily
>>
>>46085178
I feel that Faerie wings would be more insectoid, and less avian. Avian wings imply a Valkyrie which is why I'm more apt to believe >>46081352

She doesn't look too dead to me
>>
>>46081470
I'd be super interested to see Sparks get recruited TO the sky pirates to build things for them. Sparks gets to build, pirates get new toys, it'd be a win-win.
>>
Another one!
>>
>>46089243
>Silurid sea captains
Mother of god...
>>
Could any one tell me how the Dark Debts or Relic Hunters play?
>>
>>46089268
Lynch & Co kills stuff in close-mid range and have good hand/card manipulation abilities. I'd say he is one of the best masters at killing stuff.

McCabe can toss his upgrades to friendly models to buff them then get them back. Quite a versatile master, could be good in most situations.
>>
>>46089293
Thank you very much. I'm going to start playing soon, and those boxes looked the coolest.
>>
>>46089303

You going with them as TT or faction? As McCabe has some fantastic models in TT (The Archers are stunningly good with his sword, for example)
>>
>>46089309
Not really sure yet. I was thinking just buy both since they can both be used with TT stuff (If I'm guessing correctly)
>>
So, I've heard that Wyrd got the word (I've seen that someone posted cards from previous therad on a few forums), and there's a chance that they'll stop community beta testing for some time. Anyone got legit info about this?
>>
>>46090081
I haven't seen any written info about this, the post regarding the 4chan spoilers on AWP (fb) got deleted in an hour.
>>
I'd hate to see testing stop because of some knucklefuck who got his hands on a misplaced packet
>>
Bump for GAMA news
>>
>>46089309

Going Guild with McCabe gives you access to Pale Rider, which is really silly with his Glowing Saber upgrade.
>>
>>46094323

Point taken. There are some fantastic models on both sides form him, though I personally prefer him at TT.
>>
What do you think about using both Mortimer and Sebastian? Do you think that M with his shovel spamming filling rot would work well with Sebastian's induction&catalyst skills.

Not to mention that M, working as a corpse factory is always a good idea.
>>
>>46094387

I've heard of people in the forums running both with Nico and the Shadow Embrace upgrade.

If you keep your dudes close to Nico and Sebastian you can keep your crew healed up with little effort.
>>
>>46085983
Valkyries are not angels... They don't have wings... Learn your mythology! And if you try to say on their helmets I curse you with terrible luck in all your malifaux games.

>>46089243

Any play or crew composition tips for a scheme focused Lazarus crew?

I'm solid with Viktorias and Von Schill for my melee and shooty lists for a goal of just killing bitches. I'm trying to branch out my horizons past simply killing most of the enemy models so they can't do the objectives.
>>
>>46109345
The most important bit is PROTECT YO WAIFS.
you can afford to loose most things, since you can just make more of 'em, but not waifs.
>>
>>46109345
err, Leveticus, not Lazarus. Woops

>>46109669
I understand the basic activation for Leveticus is channel for 3 attacks, hit something hard, then summon a waif and disappear. Position a waif so that Levi can come back into a good position, rinse and repeat.

I know his must haves in a crew are the waifs, an anchor for the waifs, a couple abominations, and Rusty Alyce.

I was thinking Lazarus for a waif anchor since he can just shell from a distance, but also melee like a madman if the need arises.

I can see either rasputina or marcus getting an upgrade that makes them dual-faction with the outcasts, since both seem to be only vaguelly connected with the M&SU as an organization and more just sit out in the wilderness doing their own thing.
I can potentially see a similar crossover between Hoffman and the Arcanists as well, what with how he's supposedly got a working relationship of sorts with Ramos. Perdita seems to have been getting antsy with the way the guild's going lately, so I can see outcast perdita as being a thing potentially.
Other than that, I'm not sure what other crossover there could be. The gremlins look like they ought to get another dual-faction or two, but it's hard to say what. Wong going arcanist seems like the best fit, even if it is thoroughly silly, or else we just get new dual-faction masters for them.
>>
>>46111425
Arcanists don't cross factions wherever possible. They made a thing of it in the beta

>Arcanist being mystics?
so nothing new or exciting there then. How disappointing
>>
>>46115304
We got a list in a previous general (or the one before it) with themes for each faction, most got confirmed soon after and now it looks like a complete list:
Bandits - Outcasts
Faeries - Neverborn
Norse - Ressers
Demons/Oni - 10T
Reporters - Guild
Sky Pirates - Gremlins
Mystics - Arcanists
>>
>>46115404
I know, i'm just moaning because i'm an arcanist player and mystics sounds the least exciting out of the lot
>>
>>46115450
Imagine XIXc mesmers, gypsy fortunetellers, and ouija board readers, except with obligatory cogs. It could be pretty cool, and suprisingly for magic-focused faction, arcanists don't have any "classic" warlocks in their lineup.
>>
Book 4 is cool and all, but I haven't even used everything in book 3 yet.

Anybody got a favorite emissary and conflux combo? Or even a book 3 model that isn't an emissary?
>>
>>46118269
Kirais upgrade for the carrion emissary is pretty nifty. Causing Ca attacks to count as Ml for the purpose of incorporeal makes her spirits a lot beefier
>>
>>46118437
The "free" zombies are also good fly summoning off of. Keep a Spirit Beacon nearby and one zombie can net you a Hanged and another Seishin.
>>
>>46118269
Well, I would love to try out both forgotten marshal nad Hayreddin, but the rule I apply to my crew is that only painted dudes land on the table. And since there's still no minis for them, I'll have to wait for a while.

The idea behind emissaries is cool, however I don't see myself plaing them.
>>
>>46112815

What makes me really curious about Titania is how she's undead.

I thought Neverborn had a huge hateboner for the undead and necromany in general?
>>
>>46113324

This is exactly what I was looking for. Not the other anon, but I got a metal Nico box for cheap with the hope that his arm vulture would be a separate piece or easy to detach. Unfortunately that sucker looks like it's stuck on there pretty hard.

I have been wanting to test out him with a Malifaux child though so I can use his healing and fast producing spells through the Child while Nico does work summoning.
>>
>>46118786
They do. It sucks that she's not a dual faction.
>>
>>46118886

This is an early playtest, so it's not impossible that they could tack on a second faction to a few of these later on once they figure out how they play in their main faction.
>>
>>46118786
They do, as evident by the piece in Shifting Loyalties when Lilith gets at the nephilim necro. I can only assume she will be one of the more..outcasty Nborn, like Nytemare isn't all that fond of the other masters.
>>
Since it's going to be a while til it comes out I need a proxy for a carrion emissary, Kirai is the only resser master I really use I kind of want to make it go with her aesthetically, I have basically no idea what to base it off though.

>>46118990

What is Nytemare's connection to the Neverborn faction?

Most of the free agent Tyrants are Outcast while the remaining ones have a reason for being members of a specific faction. Is it because the Dreamer's nightmares are similar enough in construction to a typical Neverborn.

>>46119043

You could just use the old Kirai avatar since all of the avatars are legal proxies for the Emissaries of their respective factions.

Personally I like Simulacrum 29 the best out of the Resser ones, but I feel like it's incomplete without some way to showing it has flight.
>>
>>46119142
>Nytemare
He's a "reformed" Tyrant. He no longer cares about ascending.
>>
>>46118947
It's not an early playtest, book 4 was playtested by Henchmen since late 2015.
>>
>>46119582
More like he's one of the tyrants hiding in plain sight. Pandora asked directly if he was a tyrant and he quickly changed the subject. He also casts suspicion on the thing in Pandora's box being a tyrant. His whole reason for putting up with the dreamer's shenanigans is that he wants to find a way to harness the boy's power to cross over between realms at will.
>>
>>46119043
As awesome as the carrion emissary looks, it does really fit kirai's theme.
>>
>>46122147
Just paint it all spirit-y
>>
>>46119970
and its set to release in august, I would hope any dual faction possibilities would be outed by this points in the beta
>>
I bought a metal Hamelin box ages ago but never played. I heard he used to be op.

How is he this edition? I also have some rat catchers and a heap of rats
>>
>>46124862
He's not really OP, but if he's able to get his rat engine humming he can a negative experience for the opponent. Extreme activation control.
>>
>>46124862

He's still pretty good.

A reliable Obey is always nice on top of his access to Crooligans for scheme running, an anti-charge upgrade, and a fuckton of activation control.

You can do mean stuff like pick the upgrade that lets you make a dude Fast and then sac them after they activate to drop Killjoy into position where you want him.

The only thing you need to worry about is getting access to an Obedient Wretch. It's a huge enabler for rat creation and is missing from the old metal box. If you have a rat to spare I'd suggest using it to convert a spare female Malifaux mini since metal Wretches are very hard to find for some reason.

I'm working on some Malifaux terrain but there's almost nothing in the way of information on what the Guild HQ would look like. I'm making some general guesses of the size but I'm wondering what /tg/ would think the walls would be; wood, stucco, or bricks.
>>
>>46126658
A downtown HQ would probably be brick. Quarantine zone or slum more likely Stucco/brick combination. Frontier would be wood almost certainly, especially in the north.
>>
>>46126930
Well I'm going to have a lot of bricks to draw on, at least I don't need to go buy more balsa wood.
>>
>>46127224
I would think more granite or some other hewn rock, rather than brick.
>>
>>46127353
Some reason I don't really see any buildings in Malifaux being granite. With the limited materials on that side of the gate, or better put limited manpower.

And it seems rather odd to to having a building that grandiose.
>>
>>46127736
I'd think it would be even more likely with recsources being scarce.

A show of opulence is a much a statement of 'I can afford to pay someone to kill you' as it is for comfort in a hostile environment.

Ye, what is the deal with the rose?

Seems like a fairly important aspect and isn't mentioned anywhere in the 2E fluff.
>>
I just finished all Breachside Broadcasts and soon will be reading the rest of the stories. However I've got a bunch of fluffy questions:
1)Should I read stories in Wyrd Chronicles, or is it just fine to stick to the main books, and read Chronicles later?
2)What's the deal between governor and Lucius, and for which side is this mimic working (his own?)
3)Why did Rasputin turn into a murderous bitch? Yep, the priests were bunch of power hungry sadists, and yes December wanted to fuck her hard - but the change was all to sudden, and I simply don't get it.
4)What's the deal with Raiders? On the one hand they are associated with certain factions, on the another they all are creatures of old Malifaux and it seems like there's much more behind them.
5)Does Kirai wants to trick Nicodem into something? She sure feels like she is planning something.
6)Will the whole focus of the fluff still be concentrated on the Tyrants and their attempts to ascend?
7)Will Seamus get more screen time?
>>
>>46128356
Well here's the start to my guild hq >>46135033
>>
>>46134614
Seconding this question. Where's it mentioned? 1e? TTB?
>>
>>46135824
Shifting Loyalties I believe. It's hardly a big deal, it was just a symbol used by the first merc group hired by guild in the early days.
>>
>>46135840
Yep, pg 185 of Shifting Loyalties for those who want to read it in its entirety.

I think it's at least a moderately big deal. The last sentence even reads "the sign of the rose is an infamous symbol in Malifaux which indicates that a sword is for hire".

It LITERALLY represents generic mercenaries. Which (lets be honest) other than Von Schill (and assuming Leveticus has some sort of sign above his shop) are the only kind that exists.
>>
>>46115755

Well, there is the Oxfordian Mages.

Maybe they'll finally do something with the Academic keyword outside them.
>>
>>46136504
The oxfordians are actually more akin to alchemists, at least as far as their theory of magic goes, but close enough. Anyway, I'm quite curious what they'll do with the arcanists.
>>
Working on a Lilith crew for general play. We've got a fairly small pool of players in my area but some really varied crews; There's Rasputina, there's Ramos and his construct buddies, there's Perdita and Lady J, Shenlong, and Molly, Seamus, the Vikies and Leveticus all making appearances.

I currently have access to Mr Graves, a Doppelganger, Beckoners, Illuminated, a Black Blood Shaman, your usual array of Nephilim and Nekima. (Well, eventually).

I'm thinking a list like..
Lilith
+Beckon Malifaux
+Living Blade
+Wicked Mistress
Cherub
Barbaros
+Nephilim Gladiatus
+Obsidian Talons
Black Blood Shaman
Nekima
+Rapid Growth
+The True Mother
Terror Totx2

I haven't played anything outside of the box set until now. Thoughts on how this might work out?
>>
>>46136595
I'm not a Neverborn player but Mr Graves is always a good choice because of his movement manipulation. That's one. As fo the second, rapid growth is a trap. Don't focus on it.
>>
>>46136699
I wasn't aware of that- I'd be using the Tots as runners mostly, then I figured I'd feed them models via Nekima and Barbaros. Thoughts on what to trade for?
>>
>>46136504
>Maybe they'll finally do something with the Academic keyword outside them.
well, there's all of the University of Transmortis stuff are academics, too.
>>
>>46137989

Yeah but they do diddly with the keyword mechanics-wise.
>>
>>46136595
One of the most staple take-all-comers tournament lists (with book 1-2 models) I know of:

Neverborn
50ss Crew

Lilith -- 7ss
+On Wings Of Darkness - 1ss
+Beckon Malifaux - 1ss

Primordial Magic - 2ss

Doppleganger - 7ss

Johan - 7ss

Mr. Graves - 8ss

Nekima - 13ss

Terror Tot - 4ss

Terror Tot - 4ss
>>
>>46139792
I'd consider replacing Johan with the scion of black blood.
>>
So my Grimwell model vanished on me.

Is there any way to get just the Grimwell model outside of buying the whole damn box again?

Or does anyone have a suggestion for a different model that would work for a stand in?
>>
>>46140069
Why the Scion?
>>
>>46140897
More reliable and more flexible condition removal that doesn't require AP. Similar ML threat, plus a decent gun. And a 0 action to hand out a free interact.
>>
>>46141034
That is ... That's a /very good/ incentive to use him.
>>
>>46141174
Some clarification, if you are not familiar with the Scion:
Any friendly model within 6" of the Scion can discard 2 cards to clear all conditions at the start of their activation. He has the same damage spread as a relic hammer
(3/4/6) but only a 1" reach and no flurry, though he does have a slightly longer charge, and can get [+] flips once he is has taken 4 wounds.
Its also worthwhile noting he's a nephilim with BB so he can fully take advantage of those synergies.
He's not all sunshine and lollipops in that he's a little squishier, 4 Df and no hard to Kill, but does have 2 more wounds, and a healing trigger on his Ml.
>>
Beckoners are any use for Lilith? I love the models...
>>
>>46141629
Man. That IS nice incentive.

I just need to get someone to go 50/50 with me on the Starter set so I can get my mitts on the Scion. Bloodwretches and Angel look pretty fun too though I don't know how I'd fit them in a list.
>>
>>46142050
Lure is simply gold worthy. I'm a resser player and can't think of my crew without 2 belles at all times. I guess it will work for you Neverborn too.
>>
>>46142439
Belles are awesome, but we have other great support/board control (Nurses, Carrion Emissary) options, so I don't think they are auto-includes with every Master.
>>
How many emissaries make it into the Easter Sale? I'm setting the over/under at 5.
>>
>>46149568
I'm new to Malifaux. Is the Easter sale as big as their Black Friday?

I'd love to get my hands on a transparent Tara crew.

I'd take the under.

>>46151163
I think Black Friday and GenCon are the biggest sales, but the transparents are usually available during all of them.

Rumor has it we'll be hearing about the Easter sale later today. Last year all the transparent were available.

They usually sneak one or two new things in too.

Do they celebrate Christmas in Malifaux?
>>
>>46160813
Probably.
>>
>>46115450
My problem with arcanist at the moment is the fact that there are only 3 or 4 real casters. And out of the all masters only two are non M&SU models.
>>
>>46160971
There's a surprising number of 'christmas themed' rasputina crews out there.
>>46161677
See, I always assumed that the M&SU were the biggest wing of the arcanists, with the other masters on the fringes. Also, aren't rasputina, marcus and collette all non M&SU?
>>
>>46162675
Mei Feng isn't M&SU either. The only M&SU masters are Ramos, Kaeris, and Ironsides.

While true. The Plague Cometh literally doesn't come with the requirements to allow you to play with everything in the boc. Since the rats combining isn't a "may" it's a "must"
>>
Anyone else feel the TT master is incredibly underwhelming? An awkward but costly summon, a nice movement trick and some lackluster support... Even if its stats and attacks were a bit higher, it seems like a fairly dull master lacking anything really unique or specialised. Especially when comparing it to the others revealed.
>>
>>46169304
It's all still in beta. Everything is subject to change.
>>
>>46169597
and wyrd beta tests tend to have some big power swings.

Plus we don't know the full catalog of oni available to summon, all we know are tengu, obsidian oni, and jorogumo.

Its also worth noting Tannen is 10T so, at the moment, this master's summon can take advantage of his mask boosting.
>>
>>46169253
Well technically, you're not *required* to have a Rat King. With the box contents by themselves Tangled will trigger when your rats activate, they'll be sacrificed, and then you'll fail to summon the Rat King since you don't have the model.

That's really dumb, of course, but different from literally unplayable.
>>
>>46169304
What, you were expecting TT to get something powerful?
>>
>>46169304

I'm hoping a lot of them get some reworks.

I wasn't really feeling the Resser one too much. It's cool they're trying to go somewhere new with her, but she doesn't really feel like she belongs in the faction besides using corpse tokens as a resource.

It's also a bit weird when Neverborn get the new undead master and Ressers get a full living crew. I'm hoping they at least get the Spirit typing since it sounds like they're doing an Einherjar theme.
>>
>>46169253

I think Hamelin's crew is in that awkward spot like Kirai's where her thematic functional crew is too large for a standard box yet they don't want to break the $45 dollar range on a starter.
>>
>>46164167

>McTavish
>the Sow

You haven't seen their upgrades nor the new models in the book. Most masters would also seem underwhelming if you'd only judge from their base card.
>>
Play tester here. Not gonna break the NDA but I can tell you that once you see the ressur crew it'll all make sense. It's all very thematic.

And the ten thunders one is hilarious and bonkers. It brings something new to the faction and let's you play a whole new way.

And I'm glad the Arcanist wasn't spoiled. I think it may be the best of the bunch.

le flavour meme

here's the thing, the "hilarious and bonkers" meme only works if what you get is, you know, playable

otherwise you get lucius and ironsides
>>
>>46177144
yes, I am super fucking salty about ironsides
>>
>>46177164
Scrub detected.

Ironsides is pro. Play her like the area denial control master she is, stop trying to make her Misaki or the Viks
>>
>>46177881
This.
Hand picked men is one of the most powerful passive buffs in the game.
>>
>>46177881
Is she really better than Ramos or Colette though? Or even Marcus or Rasputina?

I'm not really sure when I would bring Ironsides (or Kaeris, or especially Mei) and be confident that it was the best decision.
>>
>>46178323
Mei seems awesome against crews dependent on Ca/Sh actions, also ignoring Paralyzed is nice. I'd take her against Resser and Neverborn.
>>
>>46178323
Ramos is king of the world. I'd say he's in contention for top 3 in the game. Colette is close, but she does nothing to help your team survive. Best way to deal wth her is kill the important shit so she's stuck with worthless prompts.

Your next lie,is the situationals. Mei vs ranged crews, Ironsides for area denial, Marcus for his toolbox. Then you've got Rasputina, who I love, but she's got exactly one and a half tricks. Kaeris takes the bottom, but she's really cool, has an awesome model and is the waifu of so many people that she'll be defended unto death.

Ironsides isn't waifu material so she gets ignored. This also means that many, many players don't know how to handle a well played Ironsides. Last year the northeast national qualifier second place went to a guy who played Ironsides all 4 rounds, and he was half an inch movement away with the captain to having won.

That said she does have some weaknesses to keep in mind. Your team should prioritize enemies with high minimum damage values to stop her from getting murdered. She doesn't want to play with min 3, let alone 4. Your opponent can use their own movement tricks to,keep her out of position. She needs some kind of cover on the approach. If your play group is awful and sets up the board like warmachine then you are awful and deserve what happens.
>>
>>46179620
What would you say a rough top and bottom 3/5 master list of the game would be? Our group mostly does resser/tt with the occasional arcanist or outcast, but whenever I play against other people I generally dont get further than the dazzling stage where everything the opponent seems to do is pure magic. Makes it really hard to gauge strength beyond "Whatever they did sure knocked me out of the park"
>>
If I had to make a list, here's where I'd put folks, in no particular order:
Top 5:
Ramos - amazing auras, summon up to 3 significant def 6 armor 1 exploding minions for 1 action, hard to kill, reactivate on his totem, accurate non randomizing ranged attack, handles any strategy or,scheme well.
Kirai - fast summons that can slingshot around the board, hard to kill, lots of tricks, good support
Leveticus - murders anything, impossible to kill, very difficult to defend against, threat at range or melee, obscene hiring pool
Summon Dreamer - summons a variety of effective models and passively heals them, difficult to kill, fast, capable of switching it up on the fly
Ophelia - broken damage profile, access to,extremely overpowered selection f gremlin hires

Here are your themes for the best: summoning is very strong as AP wins games, the ability to impact multiple models, especially passively, is really good, survivablility is key, versatility is really helpful too

Bottom 5
Lucius - master actions are far stronger than main actions, the trade isn't worth it, Zoraida does it better, McMourning does it better
Yan Lo - just missing a lot. I don't think he's as bad as everyone says, but he's not great.
Mah Tuckett - does nothing every other gremlin master doesn't do better except mass buff melee. Gremlins don't want that.
Hoffman - Forced to play in a ball really hurts your scenario play, Easy to play around, doesn't project threat well
Wrath - not a master per se, but can lead a 50 stone game so he's included. Adding swift to an 8 stone hench is NOT what it takes to be a master. Worst 50 stone leader by far. Only a master because play testers begged.
>>
>>46180167
>Levi impossible to kill.

Can Tara manage it with her damage while buried guys? I'd have thought his power can't trigger while he isn't actually in play. I could be wrong though.
>>
>>46180553
Yes, and so can Aionus. Trouble is that the fleas do it on a melee 4 (2) action and Father Time is a 13 point exclusive. If you bring fleas you're doing it for scheming, and killing Leve ain't worth the points it might cost
>>
>>46180167
It's worth noting the using the GG16 scheme pool brings leve and dreamer back into the pack a bit.
>>
>>46180974
Yeah, is Yamaziko worth it now? I know, I know, Ten Thunders are never worth it, but with schemes starting unrevealed it feels like she might be part of some sort of hand control crew.
>>
>>46180913
Yeah sure, it's very much not worth it.
I just recalled thinking that was a thing when I read over them.
>>
>>46180974
Yeah, both of them are basically 3 free VP if the Assassinate equivalent is in the pool.
>>
>>46181125
And they can no longer remove the scheme conditions by burying.
>>
You give up two points by burying. The masters themselves are brutal enough that, should that one specific scheme show up, you can cede the points and go for the 8-0 instead of the 10-0. You can also play either without the self bury, where they are sub optimal, but still strong.

It does help, though.
>>
>>46180167
I'm a new player. Could you explain to me, why do you think that Kirai is better than Nico?
>>
>>46182388
Swirling spirits is like 70% of it. She's also much harder to kill with manipulative and her def trigger. Malevolence is an amazing deterrent.

So basically it's speed and survivablility.
>>
>>46182388
And to be clear, Nico is awesome. He's just not one of the best. A rank instead of S
>>
>>46182388
Not him, but Nico has a hard limit on how much he can summon based on the amount of corpse markers on the field and cards in hand. You can build up a "battery" of them by including Canine Remains/Mortimer/both, but that takes setup and burns their entire activation. If you ever need Morty to do anything else, you give up a corpse marker. Nico also has a tendency to ball up his forces into a big zombie blob in the middle due to how he buffs.

Kirai, on the other hand, has nasty ways to hurl spirits across the board to pick off snipers and such, only need a 6SS investment in a flesh construct to fuel her summoning (in addition to cards/stones). The Flesh Construct can even do his own thing while you summon off him, and heals himself of the damage you plink him with by summoning. She's also very very hard to kill.
>>
>>46182716
>>46182690
>>46182669
And where on the tier list would you put Molly? I'm looking forward to try something new. So far I've got Seamus(love him) and Nico(his playstyle is boring for me, he lacks some kind of a gimmick).
>>
>>46180167
Sonnia and Lilith are definitely missing from that list, but I think it's better to rate masters as good-average-below average, especially because even most of the "best" masters will have some hard counters. I'm usually eating Ramos for breakfast with McMourning for example.
>>
>>46184810
Also some masters perform better at certain strategies and schemes.
>>
>>46184698
Below the holy trinity of Kirai/Nicodem/McMourning. She is very good at certain stats which require to bunch up, but she will struggle when your opponent has to kill models for Wp or when you have to spread out. She should compliment Seamus quite well though.
>>
>>46184698
Molly is good, but she's limited in similar ways to Nico. She can only summon into combat (but doesn't need corpse tokens) and her buffs mean she tends to ball up with her zombies. She is much much harder to kill than Nico, but she's not as purely versatile as Kirai and her summons tend to only show up with 2-3 wounds regardless of their base strength.

If you've got strats/schemes that want you to ball up in the middle of the map, Molly is terrifying. Get Interference/Reconnoiter though and she'll struggle.
>>
Just picked up a Leveticus box. Any tips on playing him?

I already got the desolation engine.

So far for upgrades on Levi himself I'm thinking Tally Sheet and Desolate soul.

It seems like the Hodgepodge Effigy's Loyalty to the Coin has pretty good synergy with Levi with Tally sheet so I'm thinking of bringing him along

I'm just debating on what to take along in a crew other than Rusty Alyce, the waifs, a handful of abominations, and a Waif anchor or two.
>>
>>46185099

Lazarus and Ashes & Dust are popular, common hires for him.
>>
>>46185099
The entire Arcanist and Resurrectionist range.
>>
>>46185099
Ashes and Dust and Lazarus are very popular with him. Otherwise anything you feel like. Outcasts have some very nice options like Johan, Taelor (especially if you can speed them up), Freikorps Trappers, Strongarm Suits, with Pariah of Iron you can take Ryle or the Mechnical Rider, with Bone you can take Belles/Dead Doxies. And you can take Necropunks with both upgrades, who are one of the best scheme runners in the game.
>>
>>46179620

What sort of hire pool would you suggest for Ironsides?
>>
>>46185141
Sweet, I'll have to keep Lazarus in mind.

I have an Ashes and Dust that I made myself before the plastic hit, but it's not "official" even though it follows the Wyrd rule of being ok because it's self modeled. My local Henchmen won't allow conversions of any kind.

>>46185161
Only one I have is a Bete Noire. Is she worth spending the point on the upgrade if she's my only out-of-faction model?
>>
>>46185267
Your local Henchman is retarded then.

If you like Bete Noire, you could add her, but as a Resser player I find her one of our most overrated models.
>>
>>46185267
Not really, not for just her. Things you'd want with Pariah of bone Leve are crooligans/necropunks for scheme running, belles because holy shit belles are amazing, hanged are kind of expensive, but are real monstrous, crooked men/drowned have niche uses, and yin is just a total bitch.
>>
>>46184810

What does McMourning do so well against Ramos?

This is the first time I've heard of Ramos having a counter.
>>
>>46185658
Ignores armor
>>
>>46185658
He ignores Armor and Hard to Wound.
>>
>>46185658
It's not really a hard-counter, but McMourning ignores Armor. Just as Poison does. If you play offensively enough, you can cripple Ramos' crew before he swarms you with spiders, and when he tries to do so, the Chihuahua + Sebastian are rather effective against them in my experience.
>>
>>46185267
Where the hell does the unpaid non-employee get off overturning official word from Wyrd? Seriously, if your not using evangelion figurines for models or whatever, who gives a shit? Jesus I'm too mad about this but that gets my goat a little.
>>
>>46185267
>My local Henchmen won't allow conversions of any kind.
I bet all the people running, say, gremlin gunlines or Hamelin's rats fucking love that. Sure, I'll have the same four highly distinctive poses repeated three times over my crew, that won't look daft at all.
>>
>>46185267
Fuck that dude. Proxies are fine. As long as they are good looking and you are proxing something like rats/mindless zombies and other canon foder it's fine.
>>
>>46187154
>>46187264
>>46187431

One of our Neverborn guys has some kickass custom changeling models. The henchmen won't let him use them in tournaments or leagues.

He thinks it would be too confusing otherwise.
>>
>>46187608
Your henchman is objectively wrong. Replace him.
>>
>>46186005
He makes it a fight. I still put my money on Ramos. It's real easy to eliminate either Doug or Seabiscuit with Langston or Joss. You can keep pushes and maneuvering contained with proper spider positioning.

It's honestly not a hard fight

Is he the one running the leagues? If you have a normal-sized meta it may not be too hard to get everyone together to say to the henchman, "yes this is okay with us." If at that point he still is disallowing that shit then yeah fuck him. Maybe try talking to someone at Wyrd at that point.

anyway here's a pic of my crappy proxy pig-o-pult (since I didn't want to shell out for a model that I would only use occasionally.
>>

Our meta is friggin tiny. I'm worried that creating waves would mean the end of it.
>>

I-Is that a reference to the Reb Brown Captain America movies?
>>
>>46188423
Ah. Yeah I guess talking things out like mature adults is not always an option with some /tg/ communities.
>>
>>46188005
If you elminate McMourning/Sebastian easily then your opponent has fucked up. Neither of them are too hard to kill (and Sebastian will rarely live through a match), but McMourning is all about knowing when to play safe, when to poison bomb and when to move in. He won't hard counter Ramos, but I think the odds are stacked more towards McMourning, especially if he takes Plastic Surgery.

>>46187608
So he is not only a retard but takes everyone else for a retard as well.

It's nice, you can cover all schemes and strategies with such a model pool. Some Illuminated and Mr. Graves might be a good purchase in the future, but you can do fine without them.

Collodi is not really popular (haven't seen him on the table yet), but he seems very strong if you can stick your models together. However he seems limited in some strategies, so you'd most likely want to get another master for him. He shares some useful models with the Dreamer, who is quite good at strategies where he might be lacking, so if you like him as well, go for it. When starting Malifaux it's usually a good idea to choose 2-3 masters from the same Faction whose theme you like and who preferably like to share some models so you can cover more schemes and strategies well. There are some who are good at everything of course, Lilith being one of the best examples.

Collodi is good, but he'd be tough for a newbie to get into because of the ways he's limited. For purely new player, I'd look at Lillith, since she doesn't need a huge model spread for summoning and is somewhat straightforward in play.

That's probably because they never played sth like Song of Blades and Heroes/Mordheim or any other game that encourages the player to improvise - like make cool models and house rules.

I've made demos for a few years now(many different games). Atm I'm full out with the Malifaux. However it sucks because most of the community around consists of stale board gamers. And the modeling aspect plus, a little bit more complicated rules scare them away. I've managed to get four ppl into this game in past year. Which makes me quite disappointed with myself. Nevertheless, it would be cool to be a henchman, organise events and get this shit rolling with some support from outside.

I can see why people hype her so much.

On paper she's really killy with a lot of neat tricks and if you hold your cards right you can keep her alive pretty much forever.

The issue is every Resser master is thirsty for high value cards in some way. The summoners need them to summon, McMourning and Seamus use them to ensure their big once per round attacks hit, and Yan Lo is definitely a master.
