How would you expand on this?

Make them so that they are a kid now, then a squid now.
Wait, these are octopi? Shit.
For use in what?
Something about an Apprentice Octopus
Mysticism and Illusion? Magic and Reason? I don't know a good dichotomy.
>>46077729
It's a nice concept but the leaps seem to big. Rogue should be a second tier class, with Urchin or Cutpurse being the first. Rogue is the subterfuge focus of the cutpurse.The rogue then can be come an assassin or a spy. And that assassin can become a master assassin, and the spy can become a master spy. Or either could become a super agent.

Why would failure lead to a soldier becoming a grizzled veteran and not a corpse?
>>46077729
Rated D for Daww.
>>46078681
>Urchin
Diplomacy and mercantilism don't seem like scholarly pursuits.
>>46078743
That should be the 'expet' or 'craftsman' or any class that means a city or townie worker.
A 'smart guy' should them become either a scholar (intelect) or a priest/elder/shaman/advisor (wisdom)
>>46078743
Business majors.
Political science majors.
>>46078659
Divination vs "practical" magic. Illusion and domination might be on the former branch.
>>46078743
>Diplomacy and mercantilism don't seem like scholarly pursuits.
Yes they do... you have obviously never picked up a book on economics.
>>46078819
I like Illusionist and Divination being a dichotomy.
Mainly because of the potential for artistic interpretation of both.
>>46078787
What would an advisor do? Shouldn't you have expertise in the stuff you're advicing on?
Priest is great. Theology used to be a staple of higher learning.
>>46078903
I mean you could first branch into makebelieve and practical magic. Then makebelieve could further split into divination and illusion.
>>46079021
Yeah but i dont think OP is looking for super complex career path tree level autism.
>>46078803
It seems like any subject could be subject of study. Makes me wonder if one that studied war would somehow overstep into a warriors domain, or a warrior might want to multiclass into studying the art of war (Also known as a wartisan)
>>46079209
I was going to suggest tactician, but Wartisan is perfect.
Archmage [transfiguration, metamagic, divination]
<<< Adept >>>
Battlemage [Blasts, elementals]
>>46078743
Scholar should be a second class that combines with other classes to produce special ones like >>46079209 wartisan.
Maybe diplomat could be somthing people related (bard?) + scholar.
>>46079209
>Wartisan
>>46077729
merchant octopus a cute.
CUTE
>>46077729
Expand rather than replace?
I would add:
Soldier -> General (more knowledge)
Soldier -> War Engineer
Scholar -> Doctor
Scholar -> Scientist
Rogue -> Guerilla
Rogue -> Dungeon Engineer
>>46079381
As opposed to a mere warcraftsman, producing low quality border skirmishes.
Devout (heaven) --> Priest
Devout (hell) --> Cultist
Alchemist (Creation) >>>Artificer
Alchemist (Destruction) >>> Blastmaster
Archer (Innovation) >>> Musketeer
Archer (Tradition) >>> Bow-mage
Barbarian (Rage) >>> Berserker
Barbarian (Strength) >>>Warlord
Monk (Martial Arts) >>> Dragon Warrior
Monk (Enlightenment) >>> Immaculate Master
>>46078743
Shut the fuck up Karl.
>theft
>spymaster
>>46080278
I'm not Karl. Who's Karl?
Merchant seems more like a trade than a field of study, at least in not-modern times. Diplomat...I really have very little idea what background a diplomat should have.
