Welcome to NWO. That has two abilities across four lines of text and one them is only situationally active, that's waaay too complex. You also have to think about limited, can you imagine how busted it would be to draft like 2-3 of these? 2/1s for days!

>>46073066

Sure it is, obviously. It definitely has nothing to do with a 2-drop dork with situational deathtouch being a rare.
>>
>>46073066
NWO concerns rarity of cards. A card whose powerlevel would be just fine at common is bumped to rare because it makes MULTIPLE COLORS! and has SITUATIONAL BONUSES. so complex. can't confuse the sub-70 iq masses who play the game with complex cards. gotta make sure they print more over costed disfigures and giant growths for muh limited

actually Maro has said multiple tines that they're pulling back on the efficiency of mana dorks in general. llanowar elves is dead, birds of paradise is in the wrong side of the pue, 2 mana dudes that tap for green are cuttig edge and two mana tap for more than green is super power. not necessarily related to NWO, just new power level they're pushing.
>>
>>46073086
>>46073106

Now that's cool. Obviously the token generation is absolute trash but it doesn't hurt the card to have a bonus upside, I could see token decks being able to reliably drop and transform around turn 5-6 and it looks like a pretty solid two turn clock that also gives you a nice pile of life to keep games from being too close. It might turn out to be jank but my hopes are oddly high right now.

No fucking shit a generic card advantage planeswalker is a control card. We do not, however, need 4 of the fucking pieces of shit in one set. At this point I'm convinced Wizards just want decks to be full of mythic rares so Standard can be a $1000+ format.
>>
>>46072948
Is this actually any good?, I guess yes for a Golgari deck right?
>>
Please be a Planar gate, Please be a Planar gate....
>>
>>46073161

Card efficiency and rarity are two entirely different things. That's why Leaf Gilder was a common in Origins, they made the dork less efficient but left it as a common because it's still a common effect.
>>
>>46073190
depends on format.
>>
>>46073161
As they should. Getting 2-4-7'd is a little bit out of control for ramp strategies, and was too easy to pull off with like 8 1-mana dorks in standard at any given time.
>>
>>46073206
>Situational deathtouch on top of a bad mana dork is so draft warping that it needs to be at rare

if something is about reducing complexity at the common rarity then it still concerns the rarity of cards you dumb fuck head

But just to prove my point, from the 2011 article discussing NWO on wizards webpage

>The theory behind New World Order was this: we have to be very careful about what we put at common. We had to redraw the line for what level of complexity was acceptable

even if the power level would be acceptable at common if it's too complex it will not be a common. NWO is de facto concerned with complexity.. Now go fellate yourself
>>
>>46073112
The demons she still needs to kill are Belzenlok and Razaketh.
>>
>>46073190

It's not trash, for standard at least. It's a card that serves an unexciting but useful role. Although I honestly haven't been keeping up with what dorks are available so maybe 2/1 deathtouch for 2 is somehow behind the curve (really doubt that though).

I think you're greatly overestimating how easy delirium will be to turn on in limited. If you lose a creature, instant AND sorcery (which is already saying a lot) you still need to find another type. >a walker cant be completed

Is this new? I thought urza was steps away from accepting completion? Didnt phyresis corrupt the soul as well as body or somthing like that?
Or is this some kind of new walker shit? I honestly cant keep up with how many are in your face now. Went from "God like beings" to "Slightly powerful guys". It literally took 4 walkers to destroy phyrexia, an entire planet built to fight walkers.

>>46073929
Like the other poster said, its based of a disease phyresis. It was just engineered to be biomechanical.
>>
>>46074024
walkers CANNOT be Completed, the Spark and phyresis is incompatiable.

its why Phrexia has no walkers, and walkers can't be phyrexia-ized.

and BTW the Oil predates Yawgmoth.
>>
>>46073987
Yes, she is old enough, but we don't know how many places she has traveled. I'm not saying that it's not likely that she came into contact with them, it's just not guaranteed.

That leads me to a question: Why don't the planewalkers talk about the Phyrexians more? Have none of our cast come into contact with them, or someone else who has? I don't think they have

Walkers have never been able to be compleated. Sparks are completely incompatible with the process. Urza just joined the Phyrexians at the end. never was Compelated.
>>
>>46074024
If a walker is compleated lost it's spark
>>
>>46074044
Probably just the fact that we only know of one other plane that Old Phyrexians are on.
>>
>>46074024
Urza was in love with Big Yawg, it had nothing to do with compleation, Urza and Yawgmoth are essentially so similar it hurts.

and you can make as much shit as you want to try and fight Old-Walkers, you simply cannot make whatever it is powerful enough.

Negators

Nicol Bolas obviousl and Tezzy, Liliana for sure too.

Nope. She's dead until stated otherwise.
You can argue "She'll be back. The Greek Underworld never holds anyone for long" but the fact is that she's died on camera, and wizards doesn't like bringing dead people back.

it worked with Ugin because they revealed he was dead in the same arc they made him alive.

it was the most phoned in set since.. I dunno, exactly, everything was just "here's our Greek variation of a myth put on a card"

>>

since the mending? literally?

no one can go anywhere but walkers, the Mending "hardened" planes 'walls'.

Jeska probably did it intentionally as nearly all the bad shit that caused the Storms was due to people fuking about with bridging planes and shit.

we'll never know, for a brief instant she was the strongest being alive.

Serra left because she had given up on life due to her Hubby dying a while a go.

she simply didn't give a shit, she could have fought and killed the Phyrexians, but she was basically done at that point in the lore.
>>

Serra was quite powerful, she left because she didn't care anymore.

sort of.

Yawg's start and origin is hardly important, its backstory.

Urza is the true start, and it happened like, 2-3 thousand years ago.
>>
>>46074451
worldly tutor was an instant, so you just play it during their end-phase and its just as good as adding it to your hand.

Tutoring for a creature is pretty big, though. Especially at only 1 mana.

The flavor was generic, but the mechanics were solid.

Basically, the top-down idea doesn't fix WOTC's shit writing, but it allows R&D to defy NWO and put actual, INTERESTING mechanics at the common level in a set, so that we don't just get boring vanilla creatures shitting up the lower end slots.

Yes, it resulted in the second set being dogshit, and there being no "Enchantments Matter" cards that really took advantage of the breadth of mechanics until the third set.

But it let us have interesting commons. And that's all I really ask.
