Cute bugger, might jam him into a random B/G sack things for fun deck, he's a land so Loam works great with him and you can find him with any land tutor, the fact that the land comes into play untapped is nice too, talking strictly casual and EDH here, doubt it has a place in constructed, the only similar thing I remember getting played is Urami as a 1-of in ye olde Pox decks in legacy.

Innistrad is pretty much a tribal block fairly similar like Onslaught was but instead of vampires, werewolves and humans from Innistrad it was like clerics, wizards and birds(and other types).

Actually what I like about the card is that it isn't Legendary and won't die to things like Abrupt Decay or Ratchet Bomb in older formats.

Face it, it's Marit Lage.

This looks really powerful and I feel it's being undervalued. 9 damage with lifelink is HUGE and sacrificing five creatures isn't impossible for an aristocrats top-end. I think the eldrazi have different avatars on every plane, but we've only seen their Zendikari avatars. I think that Marit Lage is Emrakul's form on Dominaria and I think the eldrazi had their cosmic hands on tons of planes binding them all together. Destroying the other two Titans is real bad because it destroys all the connections.

Emrakul/Marit Lage will have a different physical form on Innistrad locked away under the cryptoliths or inside the moon.

>>
>>46072589
It's okay when green does it when it's under certain conditions and you're not cheating it out. Besides, in standard, green has the least card draw in standard that doesn't require being built around much. That being elvish visionary and nissa. Green is less likely to be getting huge amounts of mana too now that elvish mystic is "too strong for standard". It isn't hitting the field, it's putting it into the hand. They still have to cast the creature.

This is going to be an accessory card to other colour decks to pull out their creatures.

So, let's look at the abilities of Nahiri, Jace and Sorin.

Their plus abilities:
>Nahiri
+2: You may discard a card. If you do, draw a card.
>Jace
+1: Scry 1, then draw a card.
>Sorin
+1: Reveal the top card of your library and put that card into your hand. Each opponent loses life equal to its converted mana cost.

All right, so they all get a form of card advantage as their plus ability. And each one has a unique way of doing it! They're not that similar, right?

Their minus abilities:
>Nahiri
-2: Exile target enchantment, tapped artifact or tapped creature.
>Jace
-2: Return target creature to its owner's hand.
>Sorin
-X: Sorin deals X damage to target creature or planeswalker and you gain X life.

O-okay. So they're all capable of protecting themselves with their minus through spot removal or in Jace's case, bounce since blue doesn't get removal. That's fine. That's cool. They're not totally alike, right..?

Their ultimates:
>Nahiri
Expensive to the point when it's unplayable and ludicrously powerful.
>Jace
Expensive to the point when it's unplayable and ludicrously powerful.
>Sorin
Expensive to the point when it's unplayable and ludicrously powerful.

So why the fuck does WotC print three copies the same walker, just in Boros, Orzhov and Blue flavor?
>>
>>46073077
Jace's Ultimate is by far the best, Nahiri's depends on deck construction and Sorin's is the worst

ultimates don't matter, if you get there your opponent was so utterly controlled or worthless that it wasn't a match.

and yes they are SOMEWHAT similar in tone, which is annoying.

however Sorin's is probably the best 'card advantage' because it actively kills your opponent.
>>
>>46073077
Costs: 4, 5, 6
Loyality: 4, 5, 6
I mean... eh, what?

>So why the fuck does WotC print three copies the same walker, just in Boros, Orzhov and Blue flavor?

They are not alike, they are just following a standard pattern (Card Advantage, Protecting Themself, Win-con Ultimate)
What do you want ? A Boros colored PW that only care about fight, an Orzhov colored PW that only do lifegain/steal and a Blue PW that only counter ?
>>
>>46073151
I agree with you on ultimates but
>somewhat similar in tone
They're identical in tone. You'd use each one exactly the same way because they do exactly the same things in different flavors.
>>
>>46072933

>two mana Elf
>creature type human

Dude I fucking WISH this was an Elf. It would add to Shaman of the Pack count otherwise with CoCo.
>>
>>46073202
You can ensure card advantage without drawing cards, planeswalkers can protect themselves without having different variations of spot removal and it'd be nice to see an ultimate ability that is just a powerful and costly effect rather than a game-shattering ability that will never get played.
>>
>>46073202
They're probably sticking with that because everyone always evaluates planeswalkers based on the whole does it give good advantage does it protect itself thing
>>
>>46073231
no elves on innistrad bud
>>
>>46073202
Oi m8, if every creature would have sum of P/T equal to casting cost and would be a french vanilla, how long would you play? Thematic pws are what makes them great. Compare Koth to Tibalt (by theme, not by level), or Jace MS to Tezzeret. SoI planewalkers are different, but not unique.
>>
>>46073202
I, personally, want planeswalkers that feel unique rather than feeling like they came off an assembly line. Gideon Jura was such a cool card because he felt like he was a planeswalker that was in the think of battle like a creature. By contrast, JTMS was boring because he was just a pile of powerful effects. Yeah, JTMS is more powerful than Gideon, but I'd rather have weaker, more interesting walkers than powerful, identical ones.

>Isn't that just his normal cloak? It matches his vambraces
Nope! Recent lore from revealed that Jace bought the coat when he came to Innistrad to help deal with the rain.

Presumably he paid the tailor to properly brand it.
>>
>>46077215
That's because Jace is a manlet and the cloak belonged to his ex-boyfriend.
>>
>>46077253
Yep, even if they fight off the big bad eldritch thing, Innistrad is still doomed to a slow death because he can't remake Avacyn

even if he was wealthy, why would some innistrad tailor accept ravnicamoney? I'm surprised he could afford anything. how do planeswalkers interact with existing societies without having to work out some regular street performer routine for spare change? Does jace just find some asshole, rob them, then blank their memory every time he comes to a new plane alone?

Don't you know anon? For Jace, "buying" something means planting a false memory in the tailor that money was exchanged.

I would appreciate a stereotypical cloak and wizard hat, especially on a plane like Innistrad. I guess Jace isn't a /fa/ccboi afterall.

My opinion?

Art is shit, first thing I noticed.

+1 seems really solid. Draw that also hurts your opponent.

-X is OK, spot removal or direct damage with life gain.

Ultis strong but a bit underwhelming for being a -9.

Overall I feel like it's probably pretty solid. The +1 especially seems good.

A sliver invasion of Innistrad...

A couple years later, in the only surviving sliver-proofed citadel on the plane, vampires, wolfir, angels, demons, and humans all sit around a campfire, telling their children in hushed voices how they used to hunt each other before the horrible, horrible super-monsters rained from the sky and taught everyone what it was to be hunted.

That's not a bad effect if you have high cost creatures. Draw three cards and summon a six cost for six mana. I may have missed something, I'm pretty new

>>46077891
you could also just get an effect that lets you sacrifice artifacts and feed it clues on the cheap.

>>
>>46077908

>>46077891
it nets you mana if the creature costs more than 6cmc, and it's uncounterable to boot. pretty powerful effect.

>>
>>46077859
That should have been rare, but hey, I'm not complaining.
>>
>>46077963
I kind of agree. They could have had it cost three, bumped it to rare, and taken the spot of that two color mana dork.
>>
>>46077859
you probably draw something worth playing in the 3 cards drawn from clues
>>
>>46077947
Investigate and clues seem to only be on humans and spirits as far as creatures are concerned
>>
>>46077960
the cards you're talking about were only printed 3 times, and are banned/restricted in every format. Birds of Paradise didn't leave standard from its first printing until m13 came out, and has never been banned or restricted.

it's not bad. little behind the curve with an empty yard, and the tokens entering tapped kinda sucks. mostly it's just a tribal effect fir a tribe with no huge selling point so it's one of those good cards that just makes people go "yeah, and?"

Like the only format where Kozi the counter ability can actually be relevant is EDH because the deck is capable of shitting him out on turn 3~4, in real formats once you can actually get him out your opponent probably doesn't have anything that can kill it in their hand anyways and trying to pull madness shenanigans with it is winmore.

The problem with the Mirari is the Phyrexians haven't found it yet.
Yes, it's still on Mirrodin. Karn turned it into Memnarch to watch over the plane and then turned it back into the Mirari at the end of the story. It's somewhere on Mirrodin/New Phyrexia now but the creative team might've just forgotten about it.
