A thread where we make a setting, one post at a time. Magical realm or setting-breaking additions can be ignored.

To start: Goblins are the most populous race in the setting, and are prone to extreme mutations and defects.
>>
>>46055726
Put in some rules OP. We don't want chaos in here.
>>
Goblin mutations and defects are valued in their society, and the most fucked up and useless Goblins are considered the most holy.
Able-bodied and minded goblins do the most work and worship the Defromed as living gods.
In truth, goblins are incredibly sensitive to the heavy pollution of a more advanced civilization.

For example: every creature has a birthmark in the shape dickbutt.
>>
Being ill is illegal in every country, and carries a death penalty. Most people try to hide their sicknesses, but if unsuccesfull and they are proven to be ill, their entire dynasty will be slain
>>
The world is in their version of World War One.

But with giant robots.

As society stresses protection against any kind of infection, everyone performs a number of rituals and sanitation practices to avoid contracting diseases.
Physical contact, let alone skin on skin, is incredibly taboo unless it is for intimate relations. People also tend to live alone or in households with sealed rooms.
Parenting is considered a huge burden giving how prone children are to illness. As such, infanticide is not frowned upon. A dead child won't cause your whole family to be murdered by the Dr. Police.

Because everybody hates getting close, all wars are fought with proxy robots/golems.
>>

should have set a theme first op

The sheer costs of the golems, and the fact that they can only be made and controlled by wizards, means that wars are fought by mercenary companies.
>>
>>46056743
The Mecha look like humanoid insects do to the fact that this world is plagued with metal-shelled arthropods. It's easier to kill these creatures, hollow them out and build a mecha using the shells than mine the metals yourself.
A slimy substance created by alchemists is used to enhance the natural toughnessof the metal shells as it hardens and slowly repairs the shell if damaged.
The pollution caused by creating this armor slime, processing the dead metal bugs and turning them into golems is the source of the mutation of the goblin population.
>>46056953
Mercenaries follow a secret code to avoid killing each other. Most of their weapons are meant to cripple each other's robots while allowing their masters to escape to fight another day. Many carry healing potions to save enemy mercenaries they accidentally kill.
In case they need proof of dead enemies, they'll use dead peasants or something.

FUCK IT LET'S HAVE SOME RULES:
>When you make an idea, post an image with it and roll a d20
>Another anon can oppose this idea with their own by rolling a d20
>If the opposing roll is higher, then the new idea wins
>If the opposing roll is lower, then the original idea stands

SOUNDS FAIR?
>>
>>46058938
ADDENDUM
>An idea can only be opposed once
>If somehow an idea gets opposed twice, post order takes precedence
>>
Rolled 6 (1d20)

>>46058973
>>46058984
That doesn't sound fair.
>>
Rolled 8 (1d20)

>>46059011
Then suggest a better system
>>
Rolled 9 (1d20)

>>46059029
I was mostly hoping to get a high roll, but since you win we'll stick with the d20 system.
The germaphobic war mongers think of goblins as animals with an overdeveloped instinct to protect each other due to the fact they care for their deformed and mutated members of their species, and see themselves as advanced for willing to kill each other over sicknesses.

Dude, setting creation threads are live fast die young fun rides of shitposting to see what ideas get canonized

Nothing ever comes of them but for a few laughs

This system is meant to encourage this

I was joking. I was trying to get a high roll using the rules he suggested in order to invalidate the rules. Simply a failed attempt at irony.
I'm totally fine with using what he suggested.

Rolled 19 (1d20)

Everybody dresses like a plague doctor because they're afraid of diseases. To distinguish each other, people dress up their costumes with colors and symbols and various attachments.

The end result is that every day looks like a grim Mardi Gras.

These giant metal arthropods are colloquially called 'panzerbugs'
>>
Rolled 7 (1d20)

The panzerbugs are not built, but excavated from caves in the nearby mountain. They are most likely the remnants of an ancient civilization, but the common belief is that the mountain gives birth to them.

On the other side of this world, civilization has petered out and withered away from a different reason.

Panzerbugs are the fossils of extinct bioweapons whose shells are modified into vehicles.
Modern relatives of the extinct panzerbugs include an elusive race of insectoids that mimic and blend into the germaphobic civilization. Since they constantly are covered in layers of clothing and mask their faces, the bugfolk have yet to be discovered by civilization.
The other decendents of the panzerbugs include these huge bastards.
>>
Rolled 3 (1d20)

>>46059723
These insectoids communicate with eachother through subtle smell signals, and seek to slowly take over the panzerbug industry of the town Gobok. They seek to to revive their lost grandfathers and grandmothers and start a revolution.

The destruction of that side of the world motivated a grand exodus to the other side of the world.

The Desolated Earth now looks like pic related.

The bugfolk are opposed by a conspiracy of hunters, who also secretly oppose the panzerbug industry.

While lifeless except for the rampaging gods, raiders in high speed flying machines occasionally explore this blasted wasteland for the occasional salvage.
While incredibly fast, any ship would get taken out in one shot if one of the Gods managed to land a blow.

there is also mad max style raiders on the ground
