Put together the other wing so now I can have better examples

Straight or angled wings?

Keep in mind the winds are going to be loaded with bombs
>>
>>46039138
Straight, although both trigger my Autism senses
>>
>>46039138
could they just be straight all the way across? the last segments being angled up is ugly, and if you straighten em out you'd have an orky B-29

still looking for advice on progressing with my model- shades and most layers done. it's going to be a desert vehicle, and i have a tamiya texture paint, but im wary of overdoing it- i thought maybe a bit of sand in the nooks and crannies of the vehicle, but mostly just dust the lower half with Armageddon Dust. thoughts?

Update from last thread

Wash went alright I guess but I'll have to have another go at the wear and do some work on the parts I stuck dirt on because it looks like a monkey splotched it all over the place. Which is what happened.

The Sentinels still need another coat but I used some magnets to make poseable bases so the walkers can be taken off them, said utility which is now being used for handholding.
>>
>>46040252
I intend on getting the 54mm minis wings. I still need another Warlord Testudo, a couple more 54mm, a second HE phoenix and a dragon.
>>
>>46040331
You need to utilize stencils and use paint in spray form in order to do great camo. The variant you have already is lacking.
>>

>>

>>
>>46040362
I've been painting with citadel for some 20 years now. Tried several other brands but I keep coming back because they are, if nothing else, very consistent and always available.
>>
>>46040362
I like citadel for cartoony colours and washes, I like vallejo for more serious real world hues, and I like reaper for their matched 3 tone sets.
>>
>>46040419
>I have to work yellow in to get the orange I want
what have I done
speaking of white primer, what has people's experience with corax white been? I have a can of skull white but it's always been a pain in the ass to use, especially with the weather around here

Two questions. Repainting my kroot, they are all albino (bone color skin, red spines and eyes), and im wondering how to paint tribal type tattoos on skin, anyone have a reference image or experience with it? Aso would red tattoos draw away from the albino aspect? Was thinking of orange tats but it came out garish
>>
>>46043430

They don't all have straps but they all have unique torsos. The ones that don't have straps such as mk iv will have mounting points for the jump pack harness

So no you're not supposed to just glue jump packs to non jump torsos. Go look at FWs legion jump kits to make sure. I think mk v and vi may use the same torsos
>>
>>46043897
i reckon red tattoos would emphasis it, and give them a more unifying colour scheme. like they embrace their mutation.
>>
>>46043897
Try mixing your tattoo colour with your skin tone so it's not so bright.
>>
>>46043941
Was gonna try that again with more skin tone, comes out too pink with the offwhite though
>>
>>46044019
Just thin down the color with medium so it comes out translucent.
>>
>>46044019
In that case toning down the red with a brown, or even doing just brown tattoos perhaps?
>>
>>46043906
Well shit, I spent time cutting down a raptor pack and casting it when it turns out that the Sanguinary Guard packs were the Heresy era standard
>>
>>46044162

The plastic raptors have spiky mk ii and mk iii jump packs. The metal ones have some kind of weird pattern I don't know. Looks like something Emperors Children would use.
>>
>>46044162
The jump packs the SG use are mkIV and weren't really the standard throughout the heresy, that would be the older marks that >>46044218 says the CSM raptors use.
>>
Why do watered down washes leave milkyish residues sometimes?
>>
>>46044454
If you leave a pot of wash rest for a while the paint and medium seperate. When you add water you're not really effecting the medium as much as the pigment in the wash itself.

Anon those are actually really good. Half of us on here ended up with something like this.
>>
>>46044761

Yeah but technically you should be using the jump pack Mk IV torsos as they have a different look that let's them "connect" to the jump pack. You can mix jump packs but there's no way to attach a jump pack to a regular chest.

You can glue it on and most people wont notice but anyone who knows what a Mk IV jump marine looks like will know you just glued a jump pack to a regular guy. The next box BaC set will feature jump packs.
>>

You could save the work you've done already any maybe make a mixed unit with the modern SM kit (excluding the mk8 set) to represent heresy era armour sets.
>>
>>46044978
I thought the next set was supposed to be IW and IF in boarding actions. Is there an article about the next set I missed?
>>
>>46045081

Early rumors in January said assault marines with jump packs and devastators which sense if you consider that we don't have those in plastic yet.

March rumors simply say mk iii armor.

It could be IW vs IF with mk iii jumpers and shield marines, or simply devastated and shield marines which is more siegey

It could be your water. If I use tapwater to thin, it left white residue in the recesses. Impurities in the water I assume.

>>
>>46045539

Tap water is okay but you might live in an area with hard water or very dirty water and the minerals, metals, or contaminants will mess with your paint. My city has drinkable unfiltered tap water so it's ok, but I still use Vallejo thinner since it's much smoother and less runny. Try purified or bottled water or a thinner
>>
>>46045514
Actually BaC didnt meet sales goals, straight from the horses mouth.
>>
>>46045580
...Yeah, around here we warn against drinking the tap water.

I'll try a thinner sometime. Do I just dab my brush in it and mix it with my paint on the palette? Is it better to avoid a wet palette given the shit quality of my water?

It's... OK. Honestly anon, the painting is a little messy and areas that should be distinct kind of blend into each other visually. If it were my model, I'd do some serious black-lining, or maybe I'd put a nice dark wash over it (I like Army Painter strong or dark tone) to accomplish something similar.

You clearly put a lot of work into it and are proud of it, but it's letting you down right now. With just a little more work, it could really shine.

Dude, you should really watch some tutorials. This is really sloppy work all over. Bad coverage, thick paints, primer showing. Miniature painting requires a lot of patience. You can't just slap on some paint and expext it to be good. At least not the first time around

I think his problem lies in either the paint itself or the primer to be honest.
>>
>>46049550
it's the first ork vehicle i've ever done. i think i'll prime with black for vehicles now. white undercoat is hard to stop showing through without dabbing paint into every corner, and half of these i didnt even see until i took the photos.
>>
>>46049604
What paints are you using? Please dont tell me tamiya.
>>
>>46049626
citadel. armypainter white primer. mephiston red, leadbelcher and warboss green for the base layers. brass scorpion for the brass.
>>
>>46049604
Black primer is cerainly more forgiving than white. Especially for vehicles and metallics. If you want proper coverage, you will have to "dab paint into every corner" as you say. If it ain't painted it ain't painted.

The warbuggy is old and wonky, and what I see as thick paint might as well be bad casting from an old mold.

Don't give up. You can do this. Woo

Is the army painter coming out flat? I would prime the truck itself in red and the boys in either black, grey or army painter green. Separately. I would also advise against washing everything and when you do wash water it down slightly to prevent surface pooling and then go over flat surfaces like rips of muscle with your base and highlight after washing, still leaving recesses washed. If it's still coming out shiny use a matte varnish spray but only after you're done everything and be sure to follow a video guide on how to use it. I would also suggest learning how to do rust by following a guide as well. Ork metal is never that clean and the red painted metal is never purely red. Every scratch mark especially on edges of metal is a nick and should be pure metal. My thought process is boyz don't repaint their vehicles. Once it's red, it's fast forever. They take a beating and they want their war scars to show. The model itself is awesome, you only need practice. If I were you I would strip it and try again or try on less of a centerpiece given where you live, what the model is made of and what stripping agents are available to you.

Also don't feel too bad, it's not terrible. I can see promise in you. The first models I painted were the old chaos space marine rhino and troop combo box. I didn't prime them and I tried painting them with black wash. I was young so it's excusable but as I've said it's not that bad.
>>
>>46049750
thanks. i probably did the layers and highlights too heavy, and covered some of the recessed areas. i was wary of overdoing the weathering, but my logic for the bright silver was since it's a desert vehicle, and sandstorms scour rust, i read that under those conditions rust doesnt often build up.

i'll probably not strip it since it's still probably my best looking vehicle, but i might come back to it once i've done some other vehicles

Some dislike tamiya because it's different in use from most miniature paints, the "big boy" paint for the serious painter, so it may take some effort to get good results.

Metal miniatures? No need to pull any punches, anon. You can get as tough as you want. It's only the plastic and resin models you have to worry about.

Goof Off will also eat cyanoacrylic glue, so there's that, too. I don't think you should expect your bases to survive it, though.
