Japan 10% more
Yuropp version (German, French, Spanish, Italy etc) usually are on par with English
Chinese are usually 10% less
There will be some outliers like something way more expensive, but these are the general rule.

It's not really a meme, this is how a middleman store works. They assume all the risk up front; just because you sell them an expensive foil doesn't mean there are people willing to buy it then and there. Meanwhile you have money, and the store's got a piece of cardboard until someone comes along to give them money.
They get a profit cut for the risk and time.Yeah, there is some risk, see pic related.
Otherwise, if you're just selling off a few cards, it's better to just do it directly to the player, and undercut stores by 10% or so to entice people to buy. Stores are better for bulk and cheap shit.

The biggest boon I ever got was a friend gave me his co-worker's old MTG binder from Darksteel era and this guy had literally one of each card from like 4 sets.
I'm talking Swords, Ravager, Memnarch, Mycosynth Golem... fuck.. I couldn't BELIEVE how lucky I was. It actually got me into EDH seeing as I now had the foundations of a decent artifact deck.
Truly got shined on by the gods of MTG that day.
It's kind of sad to realize that the most expensive card I own at the moment is either Restoration Angel or Eijano Castle or maybe Ghostly Prison, I forget. I have all of Modern hate bears in white built except for vials, it's against my nature to spend that much on a card. I did flip some copies of FTV: Realms I found locally for $50, those $90 groves were probably the most expensive card I've ever handed.
I have all shocks but no fetches yet as again I naturally accumulated them.
I did open a Japanese Ugin out of a pack, and just drafted a Kalitas, but I'm not considering though because I sold/am selling them ASAP.
