Previous thread:
>>45962029
We are currently at war!
>Pre-war population: 2 300 000 + 177 000 chinks + 360 000 kafi
>Current food stockpiles: medium-high
>Current economic stability: good
>Manpower reserves:medium
Current military forces:
1st army - led by General Taras, has occupied the Hassein fortress of Amusk, recently fended off a counter-attack; 100 000 men
2nd army - led by General Misk, has combined forces with our allies from the Kaichou Empire and Sunset Alliance, a total of 210 000 men. The kafi-pajit forces close by number 250 000
3rd army - the defenders of Ranger Valley, made up of 35 000 militia and 30 000 soldiers from Waru Poto and Bei Poto
The main fleet - 12 galleons, 45 flyuts
The river fleet - 3 carracks, 3 caravels, 2 galleas

We have the initiative now - draw up war plans and vote to support them and we shall see what happens!
>>
>>46010725
1st army: Raid the Hassein lands, start moving towards their capital, hope to get their armies to retreat back from the ranger valley
2nd army: Attack the kafi-pajit army, we should have them pincered now
3rd army: Stay on the defensive, if the enemy starts to retreat follow them
Main fleet: Go south, there are probably some pajit ports down there, we should blockade them
River fleet: Try raiding pajit settlements again, maybe we have more luck this time
>>
>>46010725
1st army raid the lands set up defenses
2nd army set up denfenses in cloudpains.
3rd army set up denfenses in valley.
Fleet try to go down river and poison the pajit cities and thrown disease in the city.
>>
>>46011090
Just do this. But down the river spread disease and poison their water sources.

Poisoning the water is a bad idea, our people live downstream
>>
Rolled 25, 100, 77, 30, 59 = 291 (5d100)

Since there's still few people around, I'll do these rolls
First - 1st army raiding into Hassein lands
Second - 2nd army's maneuvers and preparations pre-battle(after this we'll start the battle itself with its own rolls, maybe)
Third - Ranger valley defense
Fourth - Progress of the main fleet
Fifth - River fleet raiding mission

>>

That 100! Also 3 out of 5 thongs worked. Only raiding the hassin land and moving the main fleet didn't.
>>

Yeah, poisoning the water might backfire horribly.
>>46011324
Poor 1st army.
>>
>>46011324
Best rolls you've ever given us I think. Thank you based bulgmaster.

So instead of posioning the water. We could first spread disease then once the disease lived it course we set fire in the pajit cities.

1st army was met by opposition in unfamiliar lands and had to fall back to the fortress, accomplishing little
3rd army has set up better fortifications and scouted out the area, they seem to hold a decent advantage but will be on the defensive for now
The main fleet's reached Volcania
The river fleet finally managed to do something useful, hitting Gajti, Nasri and Malebedni and disrupting some of the traffic along the river before returning to Bridgemark
The real deal is the 2nd army though - the enemy had not discovered the arrival of our reinforcements and continued marching their tired forces to chase what they believed was an enemy a quarter their numbers - you could say we caught them with their pants down, but they don't really have pants anyway.
By some measure of TACTICAL GENIUS, General Miks managed to synchronize his forces perfectly with our allies and ambush the enemy. Caught in a crossfire, tired and confused, the enemy has suffered heavy casualties and our forces are perfectly arrayed to continue dishing out serious damage
Battle of the Jungle Crossroads - 210 000 vs 220 000
First phase, skirmishing - 3 rolls for us, 1 for the enemy
>>
>>46011441
Spreading a disease is like starting a wildfire for fun. A single carrier in the wrong place might infect and devastate our entire army.
I'm rather skeptical to the entire concept of biological warfare as you see.

The enemy commander, a pajit warlord on top of a mighty elephant, successfuly managed to adapt to the situation. His forces did not lose faith and have charged the kaichou lines, though our position and ranged capabilities still allow us to deal damage to them before they have closed in

The situation was that we were still at a range and had guns, where they were closing in and have fewer, less efective ranged weapons. Getting the higher roll got them in a situation that is beneficial to them, which is a melee.
Given how the battle started, this strategy the enemy has executed is optimal for their army composition.

The enemy throws all of their force into this charge, causing many casualties among the kaichou's arqebusiers, who had not yet pulled back. We had enveloped the enemy from three sides, but now the SA army is falling behind, while the Republic's forces have wheeled to the right to attack the enemy. The Kaichou are now in the thick of the melee, though.

For a moment there, things were looking dire, but at that moment the Kaichou general unleashed his cavalry forces upon the enemy's flank. The SA forces finally caught up and began hitting the pajit rearguard, while our own men concentrate their fire on the ranks around the enemy general, taking down his elephants

The pajit general takes things into his hands. The republican(our) forces had gotten in close, but not engaged in melee yet. The pajit directed their cavalry and elephants to charge our own ranks. At the cost of many losses, they managed to disrupt our firing lines and now we are caught unprepared in a melee as well, while the rearguard is holding its own against the SA.

General Miks remembers an old strategy we used against the Gajti warlord and his elephants decades ago. Making gaps in our lines, we lure the elephants, cause them to panic and turn around to attack their own forces. The pajit general himself loses his elephant, but we haven't captured him yet. He will attempt to rally his men to help him fall back, but we have an opportunity to kill or capture their general now!

While we're probably gonna win this battle we've already taken some heavy casualties, and we're up against an enemy with far more reinforcements than us.

We've captured many pajit, who were particulary demoralized by the capture of their general. Most of the kafi who we didn't kill have managed to escape into the jungle.
We've won the battle, though we have suffered casualties. We are left with 150 000 of our original 210 000, while among the enemy 90 000 of the original 250 000 survived, among whom a larger part did manage to escape.
We have 30 000 prisoners, mostly pajit. Among them we have the enemy general.
Two seperate issues now:
1.The general
A.Attempt to bring him to our side
B.Ransom him
C.Release him as a sign of peace
D.Try to manipulate him to become an asset before releasing him
E.Kill him
F.Suggest something
2.The captured pajit(25 000)
A.Do the same as with the general(if he joins us they become his forces, if we kill him we kill them etc.)
B.Disarm and subjugate them
C.Enslave and castrate them
D.Enslave and don't castrate them
E.Any of the suggestions from 1
3.The captured kafi(5 000)
A.Kill them
B.Ransom them
C.Enslave & castrate
D.Enslave
E.Make them subjects
F.Make them join our forces

Bahmamu is apparently one of the last members of the imperial court who has not converted to the hibibi faith. He still believes in the old gods of the pajit and is a man who values honor and duty greatly. The decadence of the empire is something he believed could be overcome by virtue, faith in the gods and loyalty to the throne. He is distrustful of the hibibi and their influence in the Empire.
Regarding the spires, he has revealed to us that only the Emperor himself is granted knowledge of them. What he knows is roughly the same as what we know - about the organization and the contract.
We attempted to use this information to get him on our side, trying to point out the evil of the organization and the corrupting influences it has, as well as the hibibi religion. While he may agree on that, he points out he is a man of honor and does not wish to betray his emperor. He congradulates us on our victory, but states firmly that he is not made to be a traitor and would accept death easier than what we ask of him.
A.Try to convince him again
B.Ransom him to the emperor
C.Release him in good will
D.Keep him as a prisoner( we may try to work some tricks on him there, though the results can only be guessed)

The talks so far were made through agents and specialists. General Miks decided to take things into his own hands. He invited Bahmamu over to his command tent and treated him with great respect. The two talked for a while about a variety of topics and found a number of similarities between each other, gaining a mutual respect. Our arguments were once again presented to him and to that we added "Your brother may have sent you and your men to certain death, but that need not happen. I will vouch for their safety and if you accept to join our side, they shall serve under you. The spires have corrupted many peoples and we have the chance to fight back against their evil. With this battle we've secured an advantage in the war - we have a serious chance at taking down the emperor and the sultan and restoring your people's traditions - perhaps if and when that happens you can be the one to lead your people to rebuild in peace."
General Miks managed to convince Bahmamu - we've gained a very capable pajit general with 25 000 pajit soldiers to his command.

A small amount of chinks reinforced the positions at Ranger Valley; The SA has readied a number of ships to assist our main navy; The Kaichou have brought more reinforcements to the continent - general Jinjuni, who led the kaichou in the last battle was recalled to the homeland and replaced with general Takaribe.
While our men were focus on preparing defences in Ranger valley, the hibibi there burned down what they could and pulled out before we could realize it. A dire situation has arisen - the hibibi and pajit are massing their armies for a counter-offensive to retake Amusk, where General Taras holds the pass with 94 000 men. Reports of the enemy strength vary from 250 000 to 330 000 and these are no naked jungle warriors - the best warriors the Sultanate and the Empire have left are gathered, equipped with their best armor and weapons, along with mathclock arquebus and cannons(not as good as ours, but good enough for the walls of Amusk and Braete).
General Taras must decide:
A.Keep the initiative with us and attempt to strike at the enemy first!

General Taras' plan to block certain points of the river and to cause a flood at the right time worked perfectly, as the waters swept over more than a thousand enemy soldiers - the main effect was one of demoralising the enemy and slowing their advance.
