>the party get caught in bad weather and are forced to stay in a roadside inn until it passes
What happens next?
>>
Absolutly nothing, just let the party drive themself insane looking for something to happen.
>>
We unload the barrel of ale we have stored on our party cart, sit around the fire drinking ale and talking about stories from our character backgrounds.
>>
The innkeeper is actually a murderess and a religious fanatic. If any of the party belong to a religion other than her own, she will attempt to kill them either through poisoning or in their sleep.
>>
Probably a lot of death since the party is currently split with one half trying to kill the other half.

The Innkeeper fucks at least one of the girls.
>>
>>45983646
You have lots of girls in you party anon? Played by dudes presumably?

They're okay with getting fucked?

cozy mundane life in the inn while the snowstorm refuses to pass
and old adventurer slowly reluctantly over multiple days reveals that he used to be an adventurer like you until he ... entered a very dangerous dungeon and he barely made it out alive.
But the experience was traumatic so the party has to pry every bit of information from him through delicate social interaction and befriending.
alternatively the bad weather indicates the start of winter and the locals reveal that it's not going to get better for months probably. so the party will have to make some money and get bad weather clothes and supplies and try to venture out.

Is this what those Tumblr people are talking about when they say they get triggered?
>>
Hope it's actually an inn, and not another goddamn mimic

The inn gets carried away to Oz

Literally everything goes wrong

The Inn is built on an ancient indian burial ground and manipulates groups of visitors against each other so the spirits can revel in outsiders murdering completely innocent strangers.

Considering we're travelling swords for hire, unless there's a quest hook very little. Staying at roadside inns is not an unusual occurence.
Order food, argue over the garlic bread, try to woo any attactive staff members, sleep with a dagger under the pillow, regret drinking that much wine, get back to travelling the day after.

Normal stuff really.

SPINOFF CAMPAIGN
Just do it Sandman style, and run with it for a session or two

Why do party members never try to compare pubs? It's one of the top topics of conversation when you're in a pub. You decide whether you like it, then argue about which one is the best in town.

I appreciate that the experiences of your characters are abstract to the players, but the GM and the group should be prepared to go into detail about their mundane experiences as well as their fantastic ones. Having a solid grounding in the mundane elevates the fantastic, otherwise that wizards tower full of monkey skeletons with bat wings becomes just another day.

Current party I'm GMing for:
>Haveing gained enough astral blasphemy to get the attention of a few pantheons, Azmodeus personally says he will handel the huge, embarassing oversight in thecosmos
>The party, haveing one PC being the failed incarnation/unstable portal of a peice of the chained god, sit and brood hard at each other because they are all assholes
>Azomdea will show up under disguise, will attempt to chat up the parties weak link
>Promises and convincing, will try to have them lead the cursed PC into a trap (as Azmodea cannot touch the PC without being pulled to the bottem of the abyss)

At least thats what I'm planning for next session.

Everybody has drinks, engage in casual conversation, eat dinner, maybe play some cards, and then go to bed like normal human beings
>>
The two alien characters from the outset are annoyed because they're more or less immune to extreme temperatures so are only staying for the sake of the human characters. Also they don't sleep so will basically be sitting up the entire time, and they don't eat so have to watch the others do so.

While staying at the inn, the human characters talk about human things, the alien characters talk about alien things, and the half-breed sings and plays a song about the other characters or something that is going on.

Maybe at some point everyone tries a game or a contest or something, and the perfectionist alien wins.

The orc of the party tells the tale of how he raped a elfprince in the mouth

The party sees a figure in a dark robe carrying a scythe sitting at one table, also at the table is a guy in full battle armor, a worryingly thing dude and a guy covered in pustules and bandages.

And yet, they each feel the figure in the robes is strangely familiar for some reason.

The Inn is a mimic
>>
>>45983582
The innkeeper insists that, no matter what, they can't leave. The weathers just too bad. If they try to leave, the weather is visibly horrible but if they roll right they can notice that despite the horrible weather they are physically unaffected. If that happens, the innkeeper goes apeshit on them, hurrying them back inside the inn and serving them bowls of stew.

If they make a break for it, they get to deal with a level appropriate demonic entity whom was using the inn to slowly corrupt people. If they win, the illusion of the inn is shattered to reveal the burned down husk of a tavern, filled with corpses in various stages of decay. One of them is a wizard corpse, noticeably untouched by time. Upon this body, they will find the loot reward for this encounter.

I like it.
>>
>>45984344
Useing this. Its JUST campy enough for my groups "lets avoid all cliches at the cost of story" mentality that they wont catch it right away.
>>
>>45983582
The human fighter will do something stupid and start a fight, in which the drunk dwarf warrior will slap his shit, while the elf berserker hides in his room.
In case the fight goes out of hand, two NPCs at the inn will make them stop by force if necessary.
