It is an exercise in personal expression and fun. Just go with what feels right! it can be as big or as small as you want and have as deep and complex as your want too!

That's why the way i prefer to do it is to writefag about my kingdom and use the pictures as a "what they look like" and not make strict connections with who they are. Especially because it makes no sense to have so many characters from different universes thrown together.
Although archetypical characters like Guts make a little sense but still not as good as coming up with a whole new character.

I obviously like the latter way more but the satyrical ones are pretty funny when you get the jokes. A lot of the time the jokes are too obscure to get for most people though.

When the Cataclysm happened and the Goblins needed somewhere to stay, he essentially told them "fuck you" and he had to be pressured into giving them a place in Org, and even then he only gave them a tiny area and encouraged the orcs to be mean to them.
He essentially did the same to the Trolls too - confining them to one small area of Org and encouraging mistreatment of them.
And then he killed the Tauren leader in what was supposed to be an honorable duel (and not to the death), called Sylvanas a bitch and all undead - Forsaken included - abberations that deserved to die.
tl;dr yes, Thrall is Green Jesus and that annoys me, but Garry is literally Orc Hitler. Given a choice between them, I'd always prefer Thrall to Garry.And I can't wait for Sylvanas to take her rightful place as Warchief in Legion

Early Sylvannas was constantly giving off hints that she wanted what Putress was doing to happen. Even back in Frozen Trone.
She got changed to being "good" because too many babbies playing Horde wanted their undead waifu to be pure.

She didn't get "changed to being good", the Orcs put a much tighter watch on her and all her Forsaken after Wrathgate.
Thus, Sylvanas and the Forsaken had to be much more careful about what they did for a long time, and perhaps in Legion we'll see a re-rise of the sinister side of the Forsaken now that they don't have as much in the way of retaliation from other races as they had before.
They only stopped being overtly "bad" because they were worried about being attacked by every other race on the planet, Horde included, if they were found to be doing anything anyone else didn't like.

So I didn't use established characters for mine, just took ones from a series of character concept images I had sitting around.
The idea is that it's a Meiji-era Japan-esque; the shogun has formed a union with a kami goddess, leading to an alliance with the youkai. The court consists of youkai, samurai aristocracy, representatives of the indigenous Ainu people, as well as the emerging industrial backers. I didn't have a picture of a castle from the same artist, so I'm implying that they have a golem-creator who crafted a moving fortress for the royal family.
