The Spanish failed to conquer the Aztecs, who used captured Spanish slaves to derive the mystical secrets of metallurgy and basic sciences. The Aztec Empire used these things to expand massively, and combined with its numbers, took most of North and South America, though the English maintained the thirteen colonies and France maintained Canada. As technology advanced, trade between Europe and the Aztecs led to the latter advancing as well. They maintained their insane human sacrifice religion, and waged constant wars on everyone, including Asia, once technology permitted.

Eventually the Aztecs became the dominant world power, developed hyperdrive, and set up an interstellar empire that met with other interstellar empires. Other human groups exist on Earth, forced into constant rebellion by being overtaxed so that the Aztecs will have excuses to capture soldiers for sacrifice.

How do they maintain their religion in space, when it's clear that the sun will not be destroyed if they stop sacrificing people? Do they sacrifice sentient aliens in addition to other humans? What do their ships look like?

As profoundly unlikely and ridiculous as this would be, I like the concept.

The religion evolves to the Universe will explode, not just the Sun. All blood is sacred to Huitzilopochtil.

>What do their ships look like
Literally giant space serpents
>>
How could they capture alien soldiers in ship-to-ship combat?
>>
>>45941746
Disabling shots on the engines and then boarding torpedoes.
>>
>Implying no matter what, they wouldn't still get buttfucked by disease

Your shitty alternate scenario ignored the most important detail.
>>
>>45941802
Or the hard-science approach, take over alien planets and set up a tithe system.
>>

>The Spanish failed to conquer the Aztecs
Then the Tlaxcalans swoop in while they're ravaged by diseases, conquer them, then form an alliance with Spain, and history proceeds to its present course.

The only way to stop the Spanish conquest of the Americas once they've already established island colonies is to pull a magic space bats scenario.

>The religion evolves to the Universe will explode, not just the Sun.

No, make it so that they have a strong presence in space because they fear that earth is going to be destroyed.

But i guess the beliefs of religions change over time due to our expanding understanding of the universe.
>The Realm of god used to be in the sky because people of that time thought it would be impossible to reach with mundane methods
>Now the realm of god is in an equally unreachable place as the sky used to be. But that place is "elsewhere"
So your approach is better,

>Hard-science
Ships shooting lasers over ludicrous distances trying to overheat their opponents and, maybe, blow up their heat disposal system so they'll have to surrender

BUT, considering space is fuckhuge, and finding another ship by chance is almost impossible, maybe they engage in ritualistic space "Floral wars" and THEN proceed as i have mentioned before.
Each planet would have to supply a number of ships for these "ceremonies". The more they can send, the more favor they gain from their gods.
Think Last Exile's approach to combat. More of a ritual or ceremony than outright war.
Also, a bit of Hunger Games, for good meassure

If they couldn't take the thirteen colonies, how are they supposed to wage war on China in that time period?

How would the Aztecs become the dominant world power without substantial iron or copper mines to provide iron or bronze cannons with which they could oppose the European powers, plus all the other things you need metals for?

Smallpox.

How do the Aztecs deal with smallpox?

You seem to have skipped a few dozen steps in your narrative there...

Quite apart from plague still DEVASTATING the Aztec people, their entire infrastructure just wasn't set up to modernise in the same way Europe was. The distances and stresses involved in maintaining an empire over such a vast stretch of land would be flat-out impossible for them, to say nothing of external pressures resulting from the rise of other world super-powers such as the French or especially British empires, which did not rely so heavily upon the Americas for resources as the Spanish did.

That's not even covering the fact that in the span of time from contact with the Spanish, to the modern day, to three or four hundred years in the future, when we finally get the hang of hyperdrive or whatever it is that finally gets us out of this damn cage we're in, any NUMBER of things could happen to break the power of the Aztec empire, not least of which being world wars, rebellions, famine, or just plain being out-developed and stomped by other nations intent on destroying the Aztec religion and threat to their trade.

Maybe with another scenario, this could work, this this premise is just too ridiculous.

>then form an alliance with Spain
>implying the Tlaxcalans wouldn't just become the new dominant member of the Triple Alliance and demand equal if not more tribute than the Aztecs once did
>implying that they joined the Spanish because they liked Spain, rather than to attempt and usurp the Triple Alliance and install themselves into dominance instead of the Aztecs

Mesoamerica was much, much closer to Hellenic Greece than it was to other North American Indian states when it comes to political intrigue.

They had substantial copper and iron mines, and they in fact made use of bronze in ceremonial uniforms and materials, and used copper quite substantially in their jewelry and in decorative and ceremonial weapons. They just didn't make iron tools and weapons because A) they had massive limestone deposits, and didn't need iron tools to work them to create the massive temples they created, and B) they had access to obsidian, the sharpest mineral that occurs in the natural world, which, while very brittle, slashed so cleanly it could cut someone without even drawing blood (until they moved of course) and never dulled (because if it chipped, it just stayed sharp). They never really had a pressing need for iron weapons because their current weapons were plenty good at killing a man, and since nobody else around them made use of durable metal armor (some Mesoamericans did make use of metal proto-scale-type armor with cloth underlayers, but it was copper/bronze scales, so it really didn't do that much for the investment and wasn't worth the time). We know they made use of iron because there were childrens toys that had iron pieces on them, just like in the Incan empire.

By slaughtering more sacrificial slaves, of course!

>implying Tlaxcala would ally themselves with the rest of Triple Alliance that had propped up the Aztecs
>implying the Tlaxcalans wouldn't form an alliance of convenience with just as they did IRL
