I seem to be regularly making threads about Traveller that becomes Traveller general so lets cut the middle man and just call this thread, Traveller General! Have Traveller Stories? Homebrew? Q&A? Or awesome ship pics or potential NPC/PC pics? Post here!
Anyone have any stories to share from their experiences playing scifi or traveller? Post dat shit son.

I've made it a kind of whenever-I-have-spare-time project to flesh out the Islands setting. It is as autismal as it sounds.
It always bothered me that the base MGT ruleset tends more often than not to mention any specifics about other bodies within a system or the composition of gas giants and whatnot. Sometimes I wonder if I couldn't model some of the systems in Space Engine or somesuch to see how they'd really move and where planets would have to be in relation to what type of star they orbit in order to be habitable.

I've never played Traveller, but I've poked around at MgT and rolled a few characters up. Or rather, I've done this with the OLD one. What's the story with the 2nd edition Mongoose has in development? Any major differences, or is it just minor tweaks and reorganizing things?

I actually began plotting out my traveller universe in Universe Sandbox 2. Though fuck thats a long project with how much my players move around.
>>45933533
I wonder from time to time if my old beater of a computer could handle Universe Sandbox 2... I remember it being a bit on the tedious side with the first one. >:

Is Classic or Mongoose better to get into as a new player?
>>45932673
Dropped it when I found out the ship design rules were split out to a separate book you'll have to buy later.
>>45934714
They're both pretty easy to get into on the player side. Most of the crunchier parts are just for the referee. Plus the two systems are very similar in most respects.
OP, if you want these threads to last, use image related. It helps.
Traveller General
Traveller is a classic science fiction system first released in 1976. In its original release it was a general purpose SF system, but a setting was soon developed called The Third Imperium, based on classic space opera tropes of the 60s, 70s, and 80s, with a slight noir tint.
Though it can support a wide range of game types, the classic campaign involves a group of retired veterans tooling around in a spaceship, taking whatever jobs they can find in a desperate bid to stay in business, a la Firefly or Cowboy Bebop.

Your copypasta needs updating. Several of the youtube videos are lost.

Yeah, it's been months since I was making generals. I've been on the cusp of giving up 4chan entirely due to time constraints and a general feeling that the board has been on a big downward slide into shitpost-oblivion over the past two years.
>>45935421
The shitposts are what they ever were. I've been coming to /tg/ off and on since 2012 and it's not significantly worse. Maybe Hiroshimoot will give us a quest board and we can boost the quality a little.
>>45935514
2010 for me, and I've noticed a significant drop. Some threads I used to like get attacked on sight now; fuckers have dedicated scripts for shitposting with, that can solve captchas and everything.
Quests never bothered me in the least, but I'm finding fewer and fewer good threads to follow. I used to encounter a broad range of people who could discuss system details and homebrew and things, and now it's like I keep running into the same five people posting the same five opinions. Gamefinder threads are a ghost town these days when there even is one. And when was the last time we had a Writefag Wednesday? Most of the writers apparently left when the smut thread got driven off, and now I can't remember the last WW that I actually saw.
Alexa rankings seem to bear it out, folks are packing up and leaving.
If it weren't for the OSR threads, I'd have left already too.
>>45935797
Gamefinder was awful as GM. I have only found like 2 of dozens and dozens of players I invited to my games that didn't have, uh, serious issues with everything and just 'poofed' at no justification.
