Building up a list of factions for an upcoming campaign and had the thought to add in a few songs I could see used in a montage to show off a particular trait and help get a good feeling for what that faction represents and how they play.

I'll post up some of my selections, but I was more curious what /tg would use for their armies or 40k in general?

TAU:
> Cossack's Song:
https://www.youtube.co/watch?v=26cr_rBQu74
> TAU = Communist in space, therefore why not pick one of the best Red army songs. Play it over a Devilfish assault with Crisis suit support. Make it loud, make it awesome.

ORKS:
> Legacy by the Gone Jackles
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1de0E3RZakg
> Hard, loud and perfect for some Speed Freaks on the prowl on their custom war bikes and buggies. Maybe a young warboss out to show he's the biggest, baddest Ork on the planet.

Imperial Guard:
> I was only 19 by Redgum:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Urtiyp-G6jY
> A grim depiction of the Vietnam war which fits in perfectly with what a Guardsman would be experiencing on an average day in the Imperium. Play over combat footage, patrols, anything that sells the grimness of it all. It ain't called grimdark for nothing mate.

I find the IG music too specific to a war that already happened. Their are no Chinooks in the year 49,999.

Here. Have literally every kind of orchestral music an Imperial Guard could ever need.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Akv4eVFXe8&index=1&list=PL502E01626E1F7592

Ya got your marchy-music, Battle-Music, ominous music, and glorious charge music on one playlist. Though admittedly lacking in faux-latin chanting.

-And here's the entire soundtrack on a single video, should you be too lazy to check the playlist on the original link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNTqWyoMWOg

You can easily replace the SLR's with lasguns, Chintooks with Valkyries. It's the tone of the song rather than the specific words that I'm focused on.

I'll give this a squint and maybe find a few choice gems in there. Thanks anon.

>creepy songs with lots if high pitched noises and weird, otherworldly melodies for tyranids
>obligatory sideshow circus music for harlequinns
>"mars bringer of war" by Gustav holst for every space battle ever
>
https://m.youtube.com/?#/watch?v=o5mIMUre5_w by fear factory is good for any chaos faction or ork speed freak group
>https://m.youtube.com/?#/watch?v=lDQ7hXMLxGc this for guardsmen going to war. If anything IG is more like commies than the tau are.

epic and the usual stuff but with a strong parodic edge but still being badass, an equilibrium of moods, like the first seconds of this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SG7VvMGw6w0

Harlequins:

Orks

Saw in in a 40k Ork video once and havent been able to break the association.

This was the music from the final mission of Dawn of War. I could easily see it used on an Imperial Shrine world.

Space Marine Soundtrack - Valkyrie Run
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzQFy7O_5V4
I've been using this for the occasional fast paced thing and imagine it would work well with anything involving a time limit.

I completely disagree with your choice of music for the Tau they are clearly inspired by Asian culture and their music should reflect that the communist song definitely reflects the Imperium better than the Tau

Agreed

this is tau

You can never go wrong with Vektor https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFEQNF-Lh-E

Eldar jetbike/ariel assaults always make me think of either https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3X4ez9HQ9ks orhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGdFHJXciAQ
Alternatively this song is in my mind >the song for Space Marines https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qJjKt0goUM

Those links be broken mate, but some good suggestions there. Mars is damn sweet to listen to.

>>45923928
As much as the Tau are the one trick weeaboo faction of 40k, they can do with a bit of variation when it comes to their music.
It's a good tune though, a good fit for more traditional Tau and Etherals.

>>45921582
I might use Saxon and Chant for my Marine faction, definite holier than though/menacing vibe there.

>>45924033
Strings and classical suits the Eldar pretty well I'd say. Nice picks.

>>45924497
> "I'm from Macragge and I say kill them all!"

As for SISTERS OF BATTLE, I think this would suite:
> Ave Maria
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYpsmna_M5A
> Focusing on the purity and faith of the Sisters, it would be perfect for a slo-mo combat scene depicting them massacring their enemies or perhaps even a last stand if you want to add in some martyrdom themes in there.
