>One World. In this model, there are no other planes of existence, but the Material Plane includes places like the bottomless Abyss, the shining Mount Celestia, the strange city of Mechanus, the fortress of Acheron, and so on. All the planes are locations in the world, reachable by ordinary means of travel - though extraordinary effort is required, for example, to sail across the sea to the blessed isles of Elysium.

You have 10 seconds to explain why this isn't the single best D&D setting ever written. It's from the 5e DMG.

It's all the best of the planes without any actual planar/dimensional/afterlife/portal bullshit, which ruins all immersion and setting integrity. The angels/demons/devils/modrons might even be mortals with human lifespans, not setting-destroying immortal bullshit.

Because owning a personal demi-plane is the shit.
>>
>>45847713
Extra planes and demiplanes basically destroy immersion and setting integrity.
>>
>>45847936
No they don't.
>>
>>45847361
So basically the Secret Wars redux of Marvel?
>>
>>45847936
>>45850166
I love rich multiverses rather than convenient worlds.
>>
>>45850195
Multiverses always sucked no matter what fiction they come up in
>>
>>45848014
Yes they do. Multiverses basically make the "real world" utter shit.

>>45850310
This is the truth.
>>
>>45847361
Just play Planescape. Functionally it's the same thing.
>>
>>45851855
>without any actual planar/dimensional/afterlife/portal bullshit
This is why anything with multiverses is shit.
>>
>>45850310
nope elric and hawkmoon are awsome for exemple but yeah majority of d&d multiverse sucks ..
>>
>>45847361
>actual planar/dimensional/afterlife/portal bullshit, which ruins all immersion and setting integrity.

How?
>>
>>45854284
cause every fucking good plan will be flooded by refugee in time of wars if logic serve, but no people prefer to live in hell cause D&D setting
>>
>>45854385
If the universe is multiplanar, most people won't even know about the other planes. Any refugees would be small groups of wizards.

If all the planes are on one planet, this is MUCH MORE LIKELY. You can't be this dumb.
>>
>>45854414
This anon makes a good point.
>>
>>45854414
>Any refugees would be small groups of wizards.
and their family and friends and friend's family....
>You can't be this dumb.
still more clever than someone that think everybody is a selfless prick as he is
>>
>>45854574
In most settings, even if every wizard capable of leaving a plane as a refugee does so, and they take all of their friends, family, and friends family, you're still only talking about a very very small portion of the population which is getting spread out over almost all of the other planes.
>>
>>45854284
Multiverses basically make the "real world" utter shit.
>>
>>45854736
let's say 1 people out of 1000 can leave the plan in an earth like world that mean 7 million of people if we divide that by 10 plan it's still enought to make a new capital city (in most fantaisy wolrd) in term of pop
>>
Planes and multiverses are cooler and actually help to establish a story than being told that demons from hell are actually just foreigners with stupid horns (at least until you throw in time travel and shit all over everything)

Also learn better english you mongrel
>>
>>45855604
>Planes and multiverses

Fucking bullshit. They ruin all integrity of the "real world."
>>
>>45855604
>demons from hell are actually just foreigners with stupid horns
This is actually pretty cool and RELATIVELY original nowadays.
>>
>>45855654
Well maybe that's because IT'S NOT THE REAL FUCKING WORLD ITS GODDAMN FANTASY
>>
>>45855748
The "real world" means the mortal world.
>>
A big part of what makes the Planes special is that they operate under different rules. A whole bunch of things change on your journey down through the Abyss or Baator, and the world works fundamentally differently on the Astral. Of course, Sigil also fucks this entire thing up (and removes "destroying the world" from possibility entirely, to say nothing of the Lady herself).

But really, what do you gain? What's worth losing all the intricacies and details of PS as a setting?
>>
>>45855814
Setting integrity and worldbuilding that isn't ruined by a fucking multiverse.
>>
>setting integrity
>setting integrity
>setting integrity
Please explain what you mean by this instead of simply repeating it.
>>
>>45855862
How exactly does a multiverse ruin anything?
