> learning about player's fetishes for homebrew game at work
>take notes, print pics, etc
I can't help but notice you did not specify that you asked for that information, only that you were "learning" their fetishes. I can only see you in their work space, browsing w/e shit that's there, printing it and taking notes on w/e weird shit's there (golden shower, goatsies, hardcore S/M, feet fetishes) on work time.

Even if you were learning it in a relatively polite conversation where everyone involved is comfortable and not within hearing range of customers, the "wtf" reaction seems legitimate.

I doubt there wasn't any warnings. Makes me curious.

It owns tabletop RPGs like Band-Aid owns bandages. You look at somebody and tell them you're reading the rules for a tabletop RPG you get the glassy eyes. Tell them you're reading "D&D stuff" and they nod, say bazinga, hail satan, and go on their way.

>"Studying hard, anon?"
That was a fun first week, yeah.

For some reason they like it when I respond to them with curt, occasionally sarcastic replies that feel like I'm suppressing irritation long enough to give them a bare bones answer and get back to my work. Attempts to do anything else by my colleagues who play has them just glassy eyed, making some vague comment and wandering off to not talk to them about it again.

It's not a bother, I'd honestly love to talk shop my whole lunch hour. It's just that the act has kept me from over-explaining, and I think since I'm generally helpful and lend a hand whenever I can if someone looks stressed/busy (keeping occupied makes my time go faster) they've built up some idea of me as something else when I really just don't want to sperg out and become a joke.

>>
>>45298682
It makes me wonder why normies avoid the friendly attempts by some to talk about it in favor of the people who pay them no mind.

People aren't really annoying, just a lot of people are hard to communicate with. I have to cut my words down (dear god, their reaction to anything with more than four syllables is downright paradoxical; they act superior and smug when they don't know it, or cheeky when they use a "don't you mean [layman's term]" reply) and spend a lot of effort finding ways to say things they won't take as overly blunt or too rude or not rude enough, and if I'm not informal enough I'm a prick but if I'm too informal I'm disrespectful.

It's like words mean totally different things for them than they mean while I'm here typing at you lot.

To someone who doesn't practice the mathematics we all learn in school (even if they could pick it back up within an hour or two) or who doesn't understand the purpose of charts or graphs, a lot of simple information can look complex as all hell.

After a while it basically turns into the "I don't even see the code anymore" scenario.

Uh... Did you think I was calling normal people stupid for using smaller words, or is this some elaborate joke?

I'm just used to using certain words and find the reaction they get offline confounding. Obviously they're not stupid just because they don't know some superfluous language or prefer to use smaller words than the ones I do.

Nah, bro. They're just a group of people I have trouble communicating with. I call that thing X, they call it Y. Doesn't change how well either of us understand it, just makes talking to one another about what it is difficult.

On the internet I rarely have that problem, except maybe here. Offline it happens all the time.

Bruh
>>
>>45300501
When you're hard at work on internet research, you want a browsing history so you can follow up on leads that you visited earlier but didn't really go over at the time. You can't bookmark everything that might be related to your topic. I know that, like most people, probably 90% of your searches are related to food, tv, sports, and porn, but some people actually do read other things online.
>>
>>45300699
What kind of person looks up food on the Internet on a regular basis?
>>
>>45300699
>you want a browsing history

Yeah, that's why you keep your non-embarassing searches on your normal browser history. That makes it less obvious that you're cleaning it up every now and then.
