Latecomer here.

People are discussing whether or not you can use blitz brigade to charge first turn?

Even though scouting prevents charging first turn?

Has somebody emailed GW to at least try to get a ruling on this instead of sperging about it?

Ive been running mono-slaneesh and Ive been doing fairly well, at 1500 I've played 5 games, 2 kill points 3 objectives, and im 4-1, only lost to tau once because I deepstriked poorly and ate supporting fire over watch. Im wondering how effective CSM are allied with slaneesh and how would I play them? I like CSM, Raptors and possessed models so I'd like to make a list around them that'd do pretty well. Any ideas?
>>
>>45119186
Better make sure you stop all those Battlewagons from declaring a charge then.
>>
>>45119014
Just because you can make a fucking infrographic doesn't mean you are reading the rules correctly.

Scouts rule says a unit that makes a scout move can't charge on the first game turn - a unit inside a transport that is scouting is moving - it can't fucking charge.

The rule was probably meant to say Game Turn but no one gives enough of a shit to correct it.

If I ever see a Blitz Brigade retard in the flesh I'm gonna purposefully start collecting Eldar just so I can Charge him with Jain Zar on the first turn out of my scouting corsairs venom.

This leap in logic is hilarious, so according to you units that moved in the movement phase also can't charge?

Also, are you even more retarded in that you don't understand that scout is not a movement? It's a redeployment? Don't answer that, you'll embarrass yourself further.

All this talk of Blitz Brigade just makes me sad for Ork players. I was playing my buddy today with my War Convocation (per his request) and he was running BB and I still tabled him on turn 3. I don't even argue BB because Orks are so piss awful it doesn't hurt to throw them a bone.
>>
>>45119181
Riptide is WS 2 with 3 attacks, while scouts are WS 4. Since it needs a 5 to hit, it's only going to be hitting one scout on average, and possibly not even killing it. It'll take at least 2 turns to punch through them all.
>>

Scout isn't a move.

Sup /tg/?

I'm getting back into the game for the first time in about a decade and am looking to rebuild my Nid army.

My old army wasn't much (I was an Eldar fanboy back in my teens), given that I started university and then couldn't afford GW products any more, but it had a Hive Tyrant, a unit of Tyranid Warriors (one of which has gone missing), about 20 Termagants, 20 Genestealers and 7 Hormagaunts.

All of the stuff I have is reasonably well suited for 6th/7th edition, but I'm looking to see what kind of things I'd need to round out a decent 1000 point army, just to get back into the swing of things with.

I've already picked up a new Hive Tyrant/Swarmlord and some Tyrant Guards. I figure that should cover my HQ needs well enough. What else should I be looking at?
>>
Blitz Brigade has a specific rule that prevents units from charging first turn. Even the fucking scout debate is worthless, because there is a SPECIFIC BLITZ BRIGADE RULE that prevents first turn charges. What the fuck is going on?

>Doesnt know the difference between Player Turns and Game Turns
>>
>>45119366
I'm no expert, but from what I've read there's a difference in consistency between model paints and craft paints. You'd need to water down craft paints a lot more and you'd likely get a worse paint job out of it at the end.
>>
>>45119366

It is largely a matter of taste - I use a combination of both. For my bulk colors like black, base white, etc, I use apple barrel. For my specific colors like metallics and shades and the like I use model paint.
>>
>>45119387
>mid tier
Not even with turn 1 charges are we that, formation costs more than 3 Riptides/ 2 Wraithknights
>>
>>45119357
The special rule prevents charges on the first player turn, not game turn. By going second, you can charge on your first turn, and you're still exposed to a turn of shooting, so you're not dodging anything this way.
>>
>>45119351
>wow this elfdar player is using a much weaker list than normal, best get mad so he brings wraithknights and skatbikes again.

I just think the formation sucks dick even with turn 1 charge - but I think it's pathetic that the entire Ork player population of 4chan systematically becomes RAW faggots just to push a formation that isn't even good in the first place, when the consequence of their RAW faggotry is Eldar and Space marines being 5x more powerful.

Yes, because vehicles, especially ones that get close to the enemy to do their job, are well renowned for being invincible in this edition.

When I run Blitz Brigade, and I've been running it since the supplement came out in 2014, I'm lucky if I have 2 Battlewagons left at the start of my first turn, if I go second. Assault armies like KDK just assault the transports after I scout, and shooting armies have access to piles of melta.

It does though beat the alternative as you rightly point out.

You're also about to learn something new. Chapter Master Orbital Bombardment does not prevent charges. Your Chapter Master can drop the hammer of the goddamn emperor on someone, and then charge them immediately to slam the survivors with his own LITERAL hammer.

Also, Smoke Launchers can be deployed even if a vehicle suffered a Crew Stunned result. It might not seem like much, but if you can't do anything else with the vehicle, a 5+ cover save can potentially let it live to see the next turn.

MFW when my brother in law and I are playing in a local tourney tomorrow, it what is usually a fairly casual meta.Drop by the shop to look at the final roster. 14 teams, 5 tau/tau teams, 2 eldar/eldar teams. Its his first tourney in a long time, and hes trying to get back into the game. It might be a long day

Because he fits the description of Big Boss perfectly. He's an operator of legendary skill and renown, such that he can lead a team of up to 30 people in FULL POWER ARMOUR to infiltrate any facility.

He is an outright god at marksmanship, being able to outdo anyone ever at shooting. Just like how big boss was able to defeat The End(The greatest sniper ever) in a sniper duel.

Oh, and in order for him to become the chapter master of the raptors, the previous chapter master obviously had to die in battle. He's obviously succeeded the previous master by honourable battle, thus succeeding his boss and becoming BIG BOSS.

Ok, 2 questions

1- A template hits everything underneath it, so on a multi-level ruin it hits everything under it on all floors, but can only kill what the firing model can see. Correct?

2- Each individual model in a unit must have range and line of sight to fire at another unit, correct? So if only half the unit is in range, and only 3 models have line of sight than only 3 models int he unit fire.

So I have browsed a few of these threads on and off since Christmas and decided this weekend I would stop by the local GW to actually watch a game and see some armies in person.

Up to this point I have read al the BRB fluff and am slowly learning a metric fuckton of rules.

The people playing at the store seemed really cool and there was a big 2v2 game of Space Marines and another table of Orks and Daemons. They let me observe both games and even slowed things down if I asked a question on someones off-turn. Their was also two more people painting who showed off some of their (very well painted) miniatures.

The problem was the GW salesperson, when I first showed up he was very overbearing and I let him know I didn't expect to buy anything yet and just wanted to watch. However he would interject a salespitch into any answer even if it wasnt a question directed at him. When I asked one of the painters what he liked about his Elder army he explained some of their fluff and was trying his best to explain a tank tactic he uses that went right over my head. (Wave Serpents, lots of them.) Next thing I know the salesperson is showing me where the Elder are and going on a spiel about the most cost effective purchase to start an army. Again I stopped him, told him I was just curious yet he did this again in one way or another FOUR more times. After models failed he tried to pitch the Big Rullebook and other novels he had afterwards he switched to hobby supplies.

It was nonstop and so overbearing. So now with that and seeing how well everyone else's armies are painted I am a bit put off by the hobby and the daunting task of entering it.

I'll be honest, before I start painting Lias, I'm going to file away much of the bling and replace it with more tacticool gear, such as extra ammo-pouches and grenade packs.

All of my marines eschew more traditional 'bling' in favor of tacticool stuff. Everyone in my entire army has a camo cloak, an extra grenade pack, bolt pistol holster, and extra ammo pouches. I'm constantly raiding bitz bins everywhere to obtain more tacticool bitz to bling out my operators more.

There is no need to start big. I wouldn't even recommend it because chances are you might dislike the hobby. I think sometimes the idea of Warhammer being super expensive comes from people who think that when you get into the hobby, you need to immediately buy 1500 points worth of minis and 200 paint pots and shit (not saying that you think like this).

But it is very easy to start with small purchases and very slowly to build your army that way. If you don't like it, you didn't make a big investment, no big deal. If you like it, you can start slowly expanding and buying more minis, new paints, army books etc.
>>

Don't worry. There's probably more spess muhrene formations out there than other factions have combined.
>>

Would this work for Blood Angels; take an allied Skyhammer formation, then a Baal Strike Force (minimum scouts), Dante, Priest /w Angel's Wing, Captain Karlean, and as many Death Company or Sanguinary Guard you can fit.

Skyhammer lays into them turn one and keeps shit tied down, turn two you have a gigantic chance of rolling deep strike and putting the deathstar on the board, turn three they kill whatever big priority target exists or start mopping up.
>>

The easiest way to get into this game is to download the Kill-Teams rules online, then go purchase an HQ and 2 troop choice boxes.

You'll get everything you need to play kill-teams for only 100$, or possibly even less if you buy them pre-owned. And you don't need to buy anything more, but it's possible to slowly expand your kill-team options and build an army up over time in the process.

>>45121855
Those look great! I obtained the camo cloaks from my army by ordering them from Chinaman. It was the easiest method, in terms of both time and money. They were 50 cents a cloak, so it was 50$ for me to outfit an entire company of 100 marines. Now I just need to find the marines for it..

My next investment will be to get 100 MkVI helmets, and 100 Seeker Bolters from chinaman. Raptors are still a raven guard successor, so canonically they favor the beakies. I'm also a sucker for bolters with red-dot sights, and I feel it would further help my marines with being marksmen.

What I meant when I said that the rest of your "Non-skyhammer" army was the rest of your space marines that don't fall under the skyhammer formation. Say you want to run a Gladius with 10 drop pods alongside the skyhammer? Well 5 of those drop pods would get a nifty reroll on their reserves.

It's just going to mean that you're almost guaranteed to get your reinforcements coming in on turn 2, instead of missing a few. This can be absolutely brutal for your opponent if you put too much on his plate all at once.

He's threatened to destroy forgeworld books and models on mulitple occasions. He's the worst waacfag I've ever known in my life(To a point where he outright refuses to play against anyone who isn't "Good enough" for him).. And he's just an all around insufferable dick.

I've run my vanguard veterans with 5 power fists, and never looked back.

Mantis warriors are actually pretty good.
Do you think it would be worth while to ally in some as shock troops for my IG?
A big squad of barebones marines to charge anyone who gets too close.
Furious charge, hammer of wrath and move through cover...

Wait, isn't furious charge blood angels thing? doesn't that make them blood angels but better?

Welcome to the hell of BA

+1 BS for the wielder, and the important bit, ignores cover for the whole squad.

Can we start a petition to drop the C: whenever referencing space marines? There's no other "SM" army in the game so there's no need for the extra letter, and if someone is referring to a non codex space marine chapter they do so with that chapters initials, BA, DA or SW are obvious.

t. CSM player that gets confused at a glance

Gives the whole squad ignores cover.

What do you get that from? I haven't read the Space Marine codex yet.

Can Krieg Company Command Squads take regimental standards? They don't seem to have the option in the book (Siege of Vraks).
